Mablethorpe, in the county of Lincolnshire, is a charming coastal resort. The village has a beach and sand dunes where you may go for a stroll and take in the salty air of the ocean. Besides a few chain establishments, you'll find a nice variety of locally owned boutiques, eateries, and watering holes in Mablethorpe. In town, you can visit the Mablethorpe Seal Sanctuary and hang out with seals and other tame creatures. Skegness, a more traditional seaside resort just a few miles down the coast, with many activities and attractions that the whole family may enjoy. Alternatively, you could travel inland to the town of Louth, which is home to Georgian streets lined with Grade II listed buildings, St. James Church, a theatre, an art deco cinema, a museum, a golf course, a modern leisure centre complex, excellent shopping (including weekly market days), and a wide variety of eateries to suit any palate. An ideal home base from which to explore the scenic countryside and coastline of Lincolnshire.
From rolling countryside to historic cathedral cities and traditional seaside resorts, Lincolnshire offers a peaceful alternative to the discerning holidaymaker.
Very poor and dirty property. On arrival the electrics, water and heating were all switched off, house was cold. We found the consumer unit to turn the electrics on. The boiler was hidden behind a concealed bookcase unit in the lounge so it was 5 hours before we had any contact from the owner and therefore had any heat or hot water. All the following problems were encountered as per photographs below, just so people know we are not being fussy or complaining for the sake of it. 1. Broken, cracked and dirty floor tiles on kitchen floor. 2. Missing tiles and holes on kitchen wall tiles. 3. Broken and mucky tiles in bathroom. 4. Cobwebs on light fittings. 5. Grease on pans and lids & some utensils. 6. Threadbare mat and carpet in entrance hall, and door badly fitting. 7. No central heating upstairs and no bathroom upstairs. 8. Upvc door in upstairs bedroom taken off & propped against the wall ! 9. Rusty door hinge/arm just left jutting out into the room. 10. Shower in bathroom useless, no water pressure. 11. Shower room mucky and not very sanitary. 12. Settee badly patched and congealed glue all over the arm in lounge. This is by no means a complete list but gives you an idea of the condition of the property. How Sykes have rated this as 4 star is beyond me. Sykes Cottages and the owner not interested in offering us compensation afterwards, as a Blue Badge Disabled guest, cleanliness is quite important, as it should be for all guests.
