The historic, South Lakeland village of Cartmel is renowned as the prettiest village in the Lake District. The Priory Church, one of the finest ecclesiastical buildings in the north of England, remains the heart of the community with its gatehouse forming the entrance to the village. The village features pretty streamside walks, quaint cobbled streets littered with antique shops, a charming gift shop, welcoming, traditional pubs serving real ale, the nationally acclaimed, Michelin Star awarded L'Enclume restaurant, and the Cartmel Village shop, which sells the famous sticky toffee pudding. Take advantage of excellent walking opportunities amidst beautiful, unspoilt countryside, visit Cartmel Racecourse, Campbell Legend Bluebird Exhibition, Lakeland Motor Museum and Holker Hall with its spectacular gardens, all of which are close by. The quiet seaside retreat of Grange-over-Sands, with its Edwardian buildings and mountain backdrop, is a mere 2 miles away, whilst Windermere, with its panoramic views over England's longest lake, is within a thirty minute drive. A superb holiday destination, at any time of year.

Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.

This was our third time at watchtree lodge it is without a doubt the most outstanding lodge that we stay in Steve and Jayne are always on hand if required and made my wife’s 70th birthday very special for her when we arrived with balloons and a lovely bottle of champagne.i would recommend this lodge as it has very high standard of cleanliness and a great hot tub. We will certainly be back

The lodge is welcoming, luxurious and equipped to a very high standard. It is situated in a quiet position, surrounded by trees. Much thought has gone in to providing everything necessary for a comfortable stay. We had such a restful time there after exploring the nearby towns and lakes. Our stay was so enjoyable that we have booked in again for next spring.

Excellent lodge , good private hot tub , a sun trap decking to the front . Nothing on site for children but other than that a great stay .

A beautifully presented lodge, looked just like the photos, which quite often is not the case. Fabulous location, so relaxing, the week went far too quickly. Steve, the host, was so nice, and helpful. Hope to return one day.

This lodge is 5 star in every way. Tastefully decorated, incredibly comfortable and has everything you could need during your stay. It is close to the village and restaurants in Cartmel but when you are sitting in the hot tub it feels like you're miles from anyone else, so peaceful. Would highly recommend.

What an amazing place! The Lodge is in a perfect spot, private with a large front balcony to enjoy the views. The Lodge is furnished and equipped to the highest standard with quality fixtures and fittings. The accommodation is perfect for two adult guests as each has their own king-size bed and ensuite. The hot-tub is a welcome addition and like the Lodge, was cleaned and maintained to the highest standard. Steve and Jayne go out of their way to ensure all their guests are made to feel welcome - even to leaving me a birthday card and gift. Would highly recommend and will definitely be returning.

This is the perfect getaway nearby the beautiful village of Cartmel! The lodge is 5 star throughout, finished to a very high spec, everything you could need and more! The hot tub is perfect after a day exploring the lakes. We stayed here for 5 nights over new year and we will definitely be returning, the owners were on hand should we need anything and were really friendly and helpful. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a relaxing retreat, within easy access to Windermere and beyond. We stayed as a family of 4 but this would suit not only families but couples and groups of friends as well.

This is a beautiful lodge with so many lovely touches to make it feel like a home from home. The owners have gone to great lengths to make sure everything is catered for in a modern clean lodge. The site is peaceful and not overlooked in a beautiful location. I have stayed in a number of lodges before and this one was definitely the best.

Superb modern yet warm & cosy lodge with everything you could possibly need. Quality fittings and fixtures throughout. Lovely comfortable bed, pillows and soft bedding. The hot tub was brilliant, clean and well attended to daily by Steve & Jayne. The lodge is situated in private, quiet spot on the park surrounded by a variety of different trees. Saw lots of squirrels and birds.Good touring centre within easy reach of lots of interesting places.

We visited the lodge last weekend and couldn’t be more impressed. From before we even got there, Steve and Jayne helping us with local bonfire information weeks before, to when we arrived and every single one of us agreed after staying in multiple lodges previously, we’d never stayed in a lodge as nice, none of us could fault it, it was beautiful and had everything we could have needed. Everything was spotless and it just felt like a second home. Steve and Jayne were on hand to help if we needed anything and only ever a text away. The location is great, not far from the local town where the locals we met at the premier shop and the sandwich shop were so friendly! We had the most amazing weekend and would 100% recommend to anyone, we are definitely thinking of going back in future. Thankyou so much Steve and Jayne, we loved our stay at watch tree lodge!

We had everything we could think of including the hot tub which made it a real luxury treat. Perfectly peaceful, but a nice walk into Cartmel, some really nice pubs. Can’t recommend enough, can’t wait to visit again, thanks Steve & Jayne for being lovely hosts x

Steve and Jayne provide an exceptional home from home. Personal greeting and explanation of the local area was an added bonus, not often experienced with a holiday rental. I’ve never stayed in a lodge before and this far surpassed my expectations. It was absolutely spotless and had every comfort you could ask for. It’s well positioned and feels private amongst the trees. I would highly recommend you get it booked!
