Liverton, a village in the ceremonial county of North Yorkshire is a great rural base from which to explore both the coast and the countryside of Yorkshire. Being on the edge of the North York Moors National Park, a variety of scenic beauty may be found all around. The hamlet itself has the air of a modest farming town, with its tradition seen in the extensive countryside and attractive cottages, as well as in the church's font, arch, and doorway, which date back to the 12th century. Both a Post Office with a neighbourhood shop and a warm inn, The Waterwheel, are available to visitors of Liverton.
The North York Moors National Park covers 554 square miles, with landscape ranging from heather-clad moorland and deep secluded dales, to the cliffs and coves of the magnificent coastline making it a haven for walkers.

Absolutely amazing week here at Handale banks farm Lodge. Ranging from with our family break ranging form age 9 to 73 years, We have loved our stay, brilliant base for exploring the area too. Lucky enough to have bumped into the owner at the local pub The Water Wheel..he was an absolutedelight. Jamie the farmer who is lookingafter the propertyis fab, polite, kind, accessible if needed and a lovelynwelcome basket for us on arrival (the water wheel will be having a separate trip advisor shout out! If you stay at the lodge, do go and pop in, Ian is fab and the food and atmosphere is so welcoming and homemade food is just yummy) The wild life has been a joy to watch. Pheasants, hares, birds of alsorts, bats and topped off with a family of Barn Owls coming and going living in the farm owners tree, far reaching country views from one direction and sea views the other. SO QUIET, SO PEACEFUL. we will definitely be back next year...if not before. Thank you to all at Handale Banks. Its been a true joy and a lovely re set.
