Reviews

We stayed here for the week- the first time we’d been anywhere since the craziness that is 2020. Every attention to detail has been payed by the owners- not just to the accommodation but also to reassure people in these current Covid crazy days. Courtyard Cottage oozes charming history everywhere and yet there are all modern comforts. It’s warm- even without lighting the fire and the hosts are warm, welcoming and friendly and generously share their beautiful grounds with guests.

This is a gorgeous character cottage, perfect for a relaxing stay and a good base to explore the area. A welcome pack including fresh eggs was a nice touch. Lovely to sit in the Courtyard or stroll around the grounds. The owners gave us a tour of the main house too during our stay.

We booked Courtyard cottage as a close friend had stayed and loved it. The cottage did not disappoint at all and we had a really enjoyable stay. The Courtyard setting of the cottage, attached to a beautiful country house hotel was so lovely. The owners Mark and Adrian gave us a very warm welcome and there was a welcome pack of essential food all set out for us. The cottage was well equipped and very well appointed and had everything we needed. It was a beautifully renovated historic building and was ideally located for sightseeing in this very interesting area. Would recommend Courtyard cottage to anyone wanting a get away from it all and who appreciates their home comforts whilst on holiday in an area with such a lot to see and do even in winter.

This is the best holiday cottage I have ever stayed in. It was spotless, beautifully furnished, and in a stunning location.

Rated by Ms Winters reviewed on 4th June 2016

There is nothing I can fault about this property. It is in beautiful condition with many thoughtful touches. The gardens are lovely and the sense of history is everywhere; it is impossible to tell what century you are in when you look out of any of the windows. The owners warmth and genuine manner is terrific and made the whole vacation even more special.

Rated by Mrs Cohen reviewed on 24th April 2016

All the good reviews are accurate. There is so much you can write to praise not only the cottage but the lovely owners who leave nothing to chance to make sure you enjoy your stay. I would like to mention Sue the housekeeper too. The cottage is a haven of peace and lovely to come back to when you have been to the surrounding places. There was a lovely welcome pack of goodies, super comfortable bed with the added bonus of a walk in wardrobe so you could tuck your cases away. The lounge is beautiful and compliments Meeson Hall. Ample space everywhere with a kitchen that has everything you need for your holiday. There are plenty of places to eat nearby but we loved the atmosphere of the cottage so cooked for ourselves. Everything was spotless and you just felt very relaxed while you were there. We didn't need to light the wood burner but you can just help yourself to more logs once your supply had run out. If you want a truly relaxing holiday then this is the place to stay. Well done and thank you Adrian and Mark, you have achieved something very special

The cottage is very welcoming and full of character, with good size rooms and a very relaxed feel. It was absolutely spotless with everything you needed to cater for yourself while you are on holiday. The owners are so helpful and on hand if you need anything, we were made to feel very welcome. We especially liked having a walk in wardrobe in the bedroom with room to store cases and bags. It makes a wonderful base for a holiday with freedom to walk around the grounds. Really must praise the owners for creating something special. There was plenty of parking space and a variety of places to visit. The best place we have ever stayed.

Rated by Mr Daniels reviewed on 18th April 2016

We have stayed at some fine cottages, but this topped the lot! It had everything you could imagine. The cottage was the right amount of cosy but still spacious. It was beautifully decorated to feel rustic and authentic with lots of antiques and character and yet without being old and dated. In the kitchen, drawers were filled with many extras, all the conveniences of home, which so many places lack. The grounds are beautiful, many strolls and more adventurous hikes on the doorstep. Plenty of attractions to keep you busy, but you will find it hard to tear yourself away from the property. The icing on the cake though are the owners. You can see that they have taken a lot of time and care to make everything perfect. We do a lot of research picking the right cottage for a lovely stay away, this one is something really special.

A fantastic cottage, like waking up in your own well appointed piece of history. The owners are brilliant hosts, their enthusiasm for their house and the area adds a whole new dimension to the holiday - attentive but not intrusive. If you can find any availability in the already booking up calendar - go!

The building is gorgeous, old and full of character, totally refurbished to a high standard and modernised where it matters. The setting is very private with off road parking and is very relaxing. It felt like our home whilst we were there. It was cosy and warm and wood burner was great. The owners are really lovely people. We love it here, this was our second visit.

This is a great cottage, in a wonderful location, set in the very nice grounds of Meeson Hall. Our welcome was great, the owners are very welcoming and happy to help answering any questions and offering advice on things to do in the area. This was the most delightful cottage that we have ever stayed in, and that's in about 40 years of using self-catering cottages. We were given a warm welcome, an excellent and were made to feel at home. The setting is beautiful, the cottage has been beautifully restored and is very comfortable.

We chanced upon a cancellation for our stay. We couldn't quite believe our luck! The property is beautiful and the owners obviously wanted us to have a great time which meant we were very well looked after. We arrived late after a gruesome road trip and found a farm shop in the village who sold everything we needed for a steak dinner except wine - and our fab hosts provided that! It is so lovely to be able to walk in the grounds (the grass is so soft it had to be barefoot!) We fed the chickens and were given a tour of the main Hall which has been lovingly restored and is a haven of genteel living! It is an ideal location for lots of visits like the Ironbridge museums, Hawkstone Follies and the RAF museum ar Cosford.

The beds were so comfortable we didn't want to get up in the mornings. This is such a peaceful and tranquil location with so much to see and do if you want to. Everything was provided for a comfortable stay a home from home. We booked this as a birthday surprise for my mum and she was absolutely delighted. We had an amazing weekend at Meeson cottage. It was our wedding anniversary and we were spoilt with a bottle of bubbly on arrival! A beautiful welcome pack of goodies was there as well with freshly laid eggs, fresh bread and the most delicious home made Jam. The cottage itself is gorgeous. The pictures do not do it justice. The log burner was wonderful on the cold winter nights too. The owners were so helpful and welcoming. We even got a guided tour of their amazing home. We would recommend this place to everybody wanting a romantic get away. We hope to be back again soon . Oh and the recommended Indian restaurant in the next village was fab! Thanks for a lovely weekend.

We chose Courtyard Cottage after viewing it on line and after reading the excellent reviews. The cottage was certainly 5 star the cottage is attached to the owners property which is a listed house in lovely gardens. We have traveled extensively in Austria and Switzerland and it was certainly on par with the hotels which have very high standards. The cottage is for three people, so there was my husband and myself and my mother in law. We had plenty of space and the owners had thought of everything we needed. We had a basket on arrival of bread, milk, eggs (from their own chickens) and their home made jam which was excellent. With the month being February it was very cold but on arrival Mark had lit a lovely log fire to welcome us. Courtyard cottage is indeed one of the loveliest ,homely peaceful cottages in the Shropshire countryside. Thoroughly recommended! The owners Mark and Adrian are excellent hosts.(Adrian's jam was fab)

We stayed at Courtyard Cottage for 3 fantastic nights. What a find, it is a two bedroom cottage that sleeps 3, it has an ensuite on the master bedroom and a family bathroom. it is fully fitted with everything that you need for your stay and the owners Mark and Adrian even make sure you have all the essentials to start your stay, bread, milk, home made jam and free range eggs etc. The cottage is straight off a chocolate box, all exposed beams, log burner, the most luxurious and comfortable bed and first floor gallery overlooking the lounge area.It is beautiful and there is a never ending supply of logs and coal for the fire. You are free to roam the estate as you please and the owners also showed us around the main house which is stunning and will also soon be available for bed and breakfast. We had a perfect weekend here, it was very quiet and relaxing but also an ideal base to visit Ludlow, Ironbridge etc. If you are looking for a completely stress free weekend or longer break then this is definatly the place, we have already rebooked for later in the year.
