Meadow Bay, Appledore

We spent a week at Meadow Bank on the 15th June. The house was in a lovely location with private parking. The weather was hot & sunny so we were really looking forward to our week ahead The house itself was lovely, beautifully furnished with EVERYTHING we could possibly need. Lovely comfy bed, brilliant over the bath shower & a kitchen full of everything we needed. A lovely surprise was the welcome pack which was the best we've ever received. But.......on the Monday morning at 7.30am we were woken by massive lorries driving past the house delivering materials to the building site less than 100 yards from the house,it continued throughout the day,heavy machinery,drilling,hammering ,workmen shouting to one another,big 100 foot crane arriving it went on all day from 7.30am to 5pm Mon -Friday. With the weather being so lovely we went out early to do our sightseeing etc & we'd return mid afternoon hoping to sit in the sunny back garden with a glass of wine & to relax, this unfortunately wasn't possible because of the noise,we literally couldn't hear ourselves talk . We're not a couple that lie in bed till late but to be woken at 7.30am on your holiday is awful. We had noticed on Sykes website on one of the reviews that a past visitor had experienced the same as us & their website stated that work was due to be completed by the end of May 2024, which obviously wasn't so.This is why we booked a week on the 15th June thinking all works would be finished. I checked with the sales office & was told that the building works wouldn't be completed till at least end of January 2025, which is a massive difference from May 2024. We would in no way booked if we'd have known this. We just feel sorry for any guests that have booked for the rest of this year. It's such a shame as Meadow bank is lovely in a lovely countryside location. We have made a complaint but are still awaiting ......
