Reviews

We stayed as a group of 12 friends for a long weekend in September. We arrived and had a look around, we had no electricity on the first or second floors. We checked the fuse box and it had tripped so we turned it back on. We went out to the hot tub and there was a rotten piece of wood covering what appeared to be a drain hole by the back door. The hot tub was freezing and there was no way to alter this. There was also rubbish around the garden. Back door was hard to lock, also no spare front door keys as advertised so only one between 12. The back living room had damp in the walls and smelled very musty. The middle bedroom on the first floor was also damp. The shared bathroom on the second floor leaked into that bedroom too. Water pressure across the board is poor - likely an area thing I suppose rather than specific to this property. We did contact the owner to let them know, but could not get through. We contacted the booking company who said they’d pass the message on. Positives were the dining room area, great for socialising and playing games (though some of the chairs are a bit wobbly!). WiFi is decent, Parking wasn’t an issue either. The location was great. It was clean and tidy, plenty of towels and crockery etc. big fridge freezer and decent oven. Cupboard full of games, we didn’t use as we’d bought our own, but a nice touch. If the damp was sorted we’d definitely recommend to friends and come back. The hot tub was a shame, but not a deal breaker. The rubbish, though disappointing was likely thrown over the back fence, so I’m not sure what can be done if that happens after the cleaners attend.

Arrived at 4pm nothing has been cleaned, floors dirty, carpets and sofas all had hair over them, cooker fridge dirty, hot tub wasn't working , pool/air hockey table had no equipment baring the balls and missing some of the bolts to lock the legs, break glass fire push broken, half the chairs around the dinner table broken or needs re tightened, Contacted owner and said they would said someone around but we couldn't give a time , we started cleaning as couldn't do anything until place was livable. 8pm come and someone shows up to clean by this time we were having dinner and getting young kids to bed , the cleaners knocked on the door and said you have a problem we said yes but its late and we are going to sort it all this conversation was while they were vaping and highly uninterested. The owner has the excuses was because it was bank holiday. Even though the latest Sykes review is the same as ours . It took nearly 24 hours to get it livable. We asked for a nights refund which was declined things got worse toaster tripping electrics this was known about from the tenants before us sparking and turning of electrics. Child safety cords hanging off the walls. Draining cover cracked and covered by a chair This is only limited information I could go on. Plugs not working in bathroom , guest house next door can see into bathroom while sitting on toilet as no blind. It's a shame as the house has potential a great location and size I have a video that shows more but can't upload Owner unhelpful and cocky it was never his fault
