Location Details

The picturesque Northumberland village of Belford lies in the heart of Heritage countryside, midway between the popular walled towns of Alnwick and Berwick-upon-Tweed. The pretty coastal village of Bamburgh, with its sweeping beaches and dramatic castle, is only a short drive away. Belford itself is an old coaching village with a pleasant square and offers a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants. It is ideally placed for exploring the Northumbrian Coastal Route, Cheviots, the renowned Northumberland Coastline and the Scottish Borders. The opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from nearby Seahouses, is not to be missed. Alternatively check the tide times and cross to Holy Island to visit the historic Lindisfarne Priory.

Reviews

What a lovely cottage. Everything is fresh modern and clean but without loosing character if a cottage. The kitchen had everything we could have possibly needed with tea and milk etc on arrival. Loads of crockery etc. The dining room was a little dark but had some fab lights above the large dining table. The lounge had the comfiest big leather sofa that me and the kids all fit to snuggle up on a night with a smart tv where you can login to Netflix etc and a big coffee table for jigsaws and games (which were provided along with lots of dvds and books too). Bedrooms were big for a cottage and beds and linen was comfy. There’s a massive carpark at the back with lots of parking for all the cottages. But room for at least two cars each. The garden was great for the dog and is fenced in so they can’t get out. The cottage is a 20min walk down the road to get to Belford. But easy to drive with access to pubs, chippy and a coop etc. We had a fab holiday. Only downside I can think of is that we had to drive out of places everyday. But this doesn’t bother us and much preferred this to the stress of parking in somewhere like Bamburgh or sea houses centre everyday. We would have probably used our car to visit places anyway so again didn’t affect us much at all. But if you want peace and quiet and a great view over the countryside with easy access to the A1 it’s great.
