Cottage is perfectly situated for Hive Beach, but lacks investment and is next to a very busy costal road which you have to cross to get to the beach. Vehicles flash past at 50mph only a couple of metres from the front door. If you aren’t used to it road noise definitely affects sleeping. The garden is poorly maintained and runs parallel to the road. If you plan to spend very little time in the house or garden you may find it a suitable bolt hole for exploring locally. But spend much time there and it isn’t relaxing. I would have concerns about taking small children and pets given the proximity of the road and speeding vehicles. The bathroom and kitchen facilities are pretty good but the decoration, furnishings and carpets are tired and dirty. There was a very strong damp/musty smell on our arrival which permeated all our belongings. We had to wash absolutely everything on our return. There was a pipe leak during our stay as well which wet the lounge ceiling and walls. Repaired promptly but no form of compensation has been offered. Hefty rental price reflects the location only. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend.
