Location Details

Whiddon Down has a fine pub, it's just minutes away from Okehampton which is one of the main gateways to Dartmoor, and in the other direction rests Chagford. A picturesque town at the northern point of Dartmoor National Park in Devon, Chagford is small in size but is packed with amenities and things to do. There is a wide range of shops as well as four pubs. Chagford also has more active facilities such as a public tennis court and a seasonal, open-air swimming pool to enjoy at your leisure. Its wonderful setting, beautiful 15th and 16th century buildings, stylish independent shops, arts and crafts, world-class festivals and restaurants make it an absolute must-see for any visitor to Dartmoor. Fine dining, unique pubs and places to stay plus literary links, a wealth of Dartmoor legend and friendly locals are certainly worth a visit. The town is full of history and stories.

Devon, with its quiet country lanes, patchwork of lush green fields and sleepy villages is not to be missed. Stately home lovers will be spoiled and why not finish with a scrumptious Devonshire cream tea?
