The bustling fishing village of Burtonport is on Ireland's north west coast. From here you can catch a ferry to Arranmore or Rutland Island, for a fun day trip, or make the short journey to Dungloe, home of the famous 'Mary from Dungloe' festival, an annual event not to be missed. In the surrounding towns and villages there are several traditional music and family festivals throughout the calendar year. Burtonport and its surrounding areas are ideal for lovers of fishing; try sea fishing in Burtonport, catch a charter boat out to sea and try your hand at deep sea fishing, or make the most of one of the 130 lakes or rivers this area has to offer. Those who love golf can delight in the many courses in the area, while nature lovers can try and spot wildlife in the bogs and reed beds, plus mountaineering and mountain climbing can be enjoyed nearby. No matter what you love to enjoy, Burtonport is a great base.
The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

We recently stayed at the Wheelhouse pods. The pods themselves are bright, airy, spotless clean with a cosy decor. The bed was very comfortable. We dined in the cafe which was very convenient. The view was beautiful. Overall a very relaxing stay. The owner John was there to welcome us, he had lots of advice on places to visit. He is man who is really passionate about offering the best experience to his guests and that really comes across. Can't wait to come back!! Maeve (Cork)
