A bustling, pretty fishing village with an attractive harbour, situated on the beautiful Northumbrian coast in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Seahouses offers a variety of shops and a good selection of inns, pubs and eating places. Nearby are miles and miles of splendid sandy beaches and the opportunity to visit the bird sanctuary or seal colony on the famous Farne Islands with boat trips running daily from Seahouses, not to be missed. The Northumberland Coast Path offers stunning walking and hiking opportunities where you can soak in the scenic coastal trails with breath-taking views, whilst the nearby Seahouses Golf Club offers a wonderful spot to practice your swing or play a round or two amidst the coastal backdrop. There are numerous castles and great houses to explore, such as the magnificent castles at Bamburgh, Cragside, and Alnwick, well-known for its appearances in the much-loved Harry Potter films, to mention just a few. With fishing, birdwatching, and boating opportunities on offer, in addition to the Grace Darling Museum, and market towns of Berwick-upon-Tweed and Morpeth within reach, you'll have plenty to fill your stay!
I have absolutely LOVED my stay at The Nook. The location is fantastic; less than 5 minutes from Seahouses by car, or an easy 15-20 minute walk. Berwick-Upon-Tweed, Lindisfarne, Bamburgh, Craster and Dunstanburgh Castle are just a few of many locations within less than an hour's drive. I am a keen walker and St Oswald's Way is literally a few hundred yards up the road so I was able to do a couple of lovely walks without needing to get in the car. Please note, if you want plenty of pubs, restaurants and nightlife within walking distance then this may not be for you, especially off-season. Personally I like to have somewhere quiet to come back to in the evening and just chill; and for that, The Nook is perfect. The accommodation is of an extremely high standard, and has clearly been done with a lot of attention to detail. The layout has been very well planned to make the most of the available space. The open-plan kitchen/ living area feels really spacious (it's actually a lot more spacious than the photos suggest) and the bedroom is lovely with an extremely comfortable bed. Everything was spotlessly clean when I arrived. The bathroom has a walk-in shower which is piping hot with good water pressure and temperature control. I've been on a couple of long hikes and this was much appreciated when I came back cold, damp and muddy. Heating is on a timer controlled from the owners' house next door, it comes on mornings and evenings. But there is a very effective fan heater in the living room if you need extra warmth outside these times. Radiators have individual thermostats which I really appreciated as I like my living area warm but my bedroom cool. The kitchen is well equipped with all the basics. You won't be cooking a gourmet 4-course meal here but it has everything you need for a self-catering holiday. When I arrived the owner had provided tea, coffee, milk and biscuits which I wasn't expecting, and I certainly wasn't expecting the bottle of wine in the fridge. A really nice touch that made me feel very welcome. Overall, I've absolutely loved my stay at The Nook and I will definitely be back!
