This was a perfect place for our short break. The cottage was spotlessly clean and wanted for nothing. The wood burning stove was an added bonus which created cosy nights after our days in the wintry weather. There was plenty of room for the two of us and our dog. A lovely peaceful location away from the hustle and bustle of Scarborough but within easy reach of both Scarborough and Whitby. It could not have been better - we will definitely be back.
Surprisingly spacious, immaculate, cosy and comfortable little place with everything we needed in a well kept private grounds. We found this the perfect spot to unwind as did our three year old Retreiver.
This is easily our favourite cottage! Seems in the middle of nowhere yet only 7 miles from Scarborough and 12 from Whitby, the cottage is set in extensive grounds overlooking beautiful Moors scenery. Inside it is so cozy, ideal for a couple, although it sleeps 4 two of the bedrooms are more suited to children I think. The cottage has been imaginatively restored from former farm buldings with quaint beams and a lovely wood burning stove, it has a smallish kitchen but one that is really well equipped with everything you could possibly need and no detail has been overlooked. It’s dog friendly too which is a bonus, The owners, who live on site, are lovely, so friendly and accommodating. This is our second visit and we hope to return one day.
The cottage was warm and comfortable and the owners (and their wonderful dog Ginny) were very welcoming and friendly. We love the area and hope to be back at Honey Bee Cottage in the future.
What a lovely cottage! The fixtures and fittings were superb; lovely cushions, pottery, pictures, curtains and upholstery. We felt as though we were staying in someone's house. The owner, was very friendly and welcoming. The cottage was well placed for the Cleveland Way and Whitby and Robin Hoods Bay. We will definitely go back!
This was a nice peaceful location, with comfortable beds and overall cleanliness was excellent. Owners were very friendly and helpful. We had a lovely weekend in an ideal location for visiting some of the many villages and towns on the Yorkshire coast.
A lovely cottage with great facilities and little extras too. In a wonderful location, an excellent base to get to the nearby towns, beaches and moors.
Absolutely fantastic holiday. Accommodation was superb. We have stayed twice now and will go again.
A lovely little cottage, and the owners were so friendly and helpful. Will certainly be returning.
The cottage lived up to the description and reviews and the scenery, local walks etc. are superb. The only reason I didn't give it 5/5 is because I managed to scrape the skin off my head (no hair for protection) on the low beams upstairs 3 times, the water taps in the kitchen sink turn the wrong way ending up in me getting rather wet a number of times and the pillows were rather firm. Despite this I would definitely return
Myself, wife and two children have just returned home from staying here for a week. As the title suggests this was a great place to stay. The peaceful location is fantastic and you have all the facilities you need. The house was spotless when we arrived with nice touches such as soap, milk and towels, which you don't always get. The cottage is compact but was big enough for us. The two single rooms are advertised as children's rooms and they were exactly that. The beams give the cottage character but if you are 6ft tall watch your head in places. I liked the WiFi and the digi tv and my daughter liked the ponies in the fields just outside. There are sheep and cattle nearby as well. There are a few pubs nearby and plenty of walks, however we spent most of our time touring about in the car. All in all it is an idyllic place to stay, just watch your head in places
The cottage, the owners and resident animals were all lovely. The area was great for coastal sightseeing and also for getting onto the moors for a walk. We encountered wildlife at every turn; from puffins and woodpeckers to barn owls, roe deer and highland cows. Spring has definitely sprung!
A cosy warm, well equipped cottage with beautiful views.
The cottage is so beautiful and surrounded by the most wonderful countryside. The owners were extremely helpful with local information and nothing was too much trouble. We were made very welcome and it was so nice to be able to walk our puppy safely in the lovely grounds. We would recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a nice tranquil break and give it 5 stars.
I am torn about making this entry because I would rather keep this place secret! Weekend visit before Christmas. family two kids and dog. Log burner roaring away it couldn't get much better. This is our second visit this year having spent a week here in the summer. The cottage itself is fantastic. Spotless upon arrival with everything you need no matter how long your stay is for. Dont be fooled that its a cottage it is surprisingly roomy.Graham and Pippa are fantastic hosts, There if needed but not hovering in the background. Its a fantastic location for any of the main east coast resorts or simply some walking on the beaches depending on the time of year.. I would have no problem whatsoever in wholeheartedly recommending Honey Bee Cottage (Unfortunately!)
Friendly owners, a relaxed atmosphere and lovely location - a true home from home.
Location good Plenty places to visit, and beautiful walking country Would certainly consider coming back
From the moment we arrived everything was perfect; the location and the first impressions of Honey Bee. The linen provided was fresh, clean and very luxurious, all beds were made and Egyptian cotton towels laid out on the bed for us. There's everything you need at Honey Bee - from tea towels to cooking tongs, pint glasses to wine glasses.
We liked the lot, beautiful cottage scenery was stunning. Great owner, so friendly.
Beautiful location, great weather and a friendly welcoming cottage.
The cottage was in a beautiful setting, gardens/grounds were very well looked after. A very professional set up.
Summer Bee cottage has everything you would want situated in a quiet secluded valley not far from Robin Hoods Bay and is dog friendly. It has 2 bedrooms, central heating. The kitchen is well appointed with washer/drier, dish washer etc and even has a log burner in the living area. The owners are extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble for them. When you arrive there is a small tray of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits to welcome you. there is 1 double bed room with a comfy bed but you do have to mind your head as i found to my cost as the beams are very low. the second bedroom is 2 single beds. we have stayed regularly over the past few years and it has always been excellent. Thanks
Friendly people owned the property. Really good location for walking and good pubs within a short drive or reasonable walking distance. The immediate area was really good for getting out with our dog rather than having to drive somewhere first to walk him. We all liked this property and will be looking to return later.
Great location. Friendly owners, comfy cottage, warm, good for kids, good access to Scarborough and Whitby and a lovely wood fire. Fantastic views of the stars through the skylights in the bedrooms!
Lovely clean and cosy cottage. Loved the comfy main bed and bedding. All home comforts. Lovely touch of tea tray and Champagne for New Year! Small bedrooms are as described for small children only. Great starting point for access to fantastic walks. Lovely friendly owners. Love the farm animals!
The setting and peace. Location ideal, even for poor walkers, as access to Scarborough / Whitby and the Eskdale villages is excellent via car and still able to return to peace and quiet. Owners completely approachable for any help or information needed.
A very well appointed, cosy cottage in a lovely part of the countryside. We had everything we needed, apart from sunshine! A thoughtful touch was the welcome tray with local cookies, much appreciated. Very handy location for trips out into the stunning countryside and not too far to the shops. The owners were very friendly and helpful and their lovely dog,Ginny provided daily entertainment for our Staffy,Harry. His first holiday romance!! We will definitely return. Loved the Guinea fowl, sheep and Highland cattle too.
This was our third visit to Honeybee cottage; proof enough that we are always comfortable and well satisfied staying there.
The Cottage was first class. The views were beautiful. This is the best cottage I have ever stayed in.
Cottage was very well equipped. Owners were very helpful, and provided excellent information for surrounding area. The cottage was set in a very nice, quiet part of Yorkshire with easy access to Whitby, Scarborough and the Moors.
We had a 6 night stay in October and found the cottage to be clean and cosy. It was very extensively equipped with everything you could need - a real home from home. The views were beautiful, we loved the low window in the main bedroom where you could lie in bed and view the countryside. The other bedrooms very small but adequate, even for an adult we thought. Some low beams though so watch your head if you are tall - I was OK at 5 foot 2! We didnt try the log burner as the weather was beautiful! The owners are very approachable and offered good advice on local pubs and walks etc. Loved the guinae fowl peeping in through the bathroom window! Would recommend this cottage to anyone.
The hosts were very welcoming and approachable. We felt very comfortable. The cottage was very clean and cosy.
The cottage is cosy and warm, with a great bath to unwind in after all that walking.
A lovely cottage in a stunning location. Everything we needed for a fabulous holiday. Situated in a lovely part of Yorkshire within easy reach of lots of interesting places. We would highly recommend Honey Bee Cottage and hope to return soon.
Fantastic cottage, hosts, scenery, and as it turned out, weather. The owners were very friendly and informative, and the cottage was stunning. There are very few places in the UK, or the world, that can hold a candle to the beauty of this location. And if you like animals, this place is a perfect menagerie with various farm animals, and enough wildlife to keep David Attenborough happy.
Honey Bee cottage is a superbly situated cottage, well equipped and beautifully decorated. The location while peaceful is still within easy reach of Robin Hood's Bay, Scarborough and Whitby. Plenty of areas for walks and children to play. The cottage itself was very cosy with lovely comfy beds and the luxury of a choice of a bath or a shower at the end of a busy day. Pippa and Graham who own the cottage were very friendly and helpful and both the children loved Ginny (the dog).
We stayed for one week in July , the cottage was of a great standard cosy and charming and passed our expectations . In a great setting and ideal for exploring the surrounding countryside , the owners graham and pippa were extremely helpful . We had two eleven year olds with us and there was plenty room outside to play and visit the ponies on the farm . We would definitely go back again .
Stayed in this cottage in February. Was a lovely, cosy cottage in beautiful surroundings. Ill definitely be coming back and staying here again and would recommend it to anyone.
What a beautiful cottage with wonderful owners and we were made very welcome The standard of detail was fantastic, very dog friendly too; I have a Border Collie who loves to look round. Very peaceful location. My mum loved the sky lights in the main bedroom as she just looked at the stars all night.
Stayed in Honey Bee in early 2013. The property is lovely, spotlessly clean and well presented. Nothing was too much trouble for the owners - even digging our car out of the snow! Would go again without question.
I have just stayed at this beautiful and delightful cottage with my wife, daughter and dog for 3 nights. We were made very welcome by the owners who were also very helpful and forthcoming concerning what to do and places to eat and visit. The cottage is a stunnung little farmhouse style cottage. The amenities in the cottage are excellent and the tray with biscuits on arrival is a very nice touch. The location is perfect, tremendous views, peace and quiet and is not far from many wonderful walks. Ideally situated for visiting Whitby, Robin Hood's Bay, Goathland and various other places. Will definitely be going back, 10/10
Peaceful location, away from it all. Playing with the log burner, 8 bags of logs burnt in one week!
The general standard of the cottage was excellent. We were met by the owner, who spent a considerable time helping get our car out of a snow drift, and carrying our belongings to the cottage.
The location was perfect, tremendous views, peace and quiet and not far from many places of outstanding beauty and national interest. The accommadation was very compact, the main bedroom was fine but the two singles were quite claustrophobic which was such a pity. It was difficult to even get dressed in them! and no storage. The owners were lovely, and very helpful, always around in case we needed anything. Ideal for a couple with two small children! Also great that they accepted pets.
We liked the cottage and location - there was plenty to do.
The holiday was just wonderful. The house was gorgeous, the garden was just amazing and so safe for our children. The cows, horses and sheep were an added attraction and the area was so peaceful.
We enjoyed the peace and quiet and we were central to Whitby and Scarborough.
Lovely property in a excellent area with great views. Very friendly and welcoming owners. We certainly had a relaxing holiday. Would love to go again.
Our choice of Honey Bee Cottage made our holiday. While never at a loss for things to do in the area, we were always so happy to come home. It was lovely to be able to walk to Hayburn Wyke for Sunday lunch, or turn the other way out the door and access footpaths through wild flowers and down to streams. Whenever we missed our pets back home, the ponies were happy to fill in, but the highlight for my son had to be brushing the gentle Highland Cattle! I was delighted with the quality of all the work and choices of our hosts. We will always treasure the memory of our stay there. It is a special place.
Fantastic setting in beautiful gardens. Spring flowers everywhere. Walks on and beyond the owners grounds. Property was 5* rating!
A beautiful cottage and an amazing location! We will be returning and recommending to friends and family.
The location and surroundings as well as the cottage were superb! Discreet but friendly owners. A tranquil but very interesting area to enjoy.
This the third time that we have booked our holiday with Sykes and we can't speak highly enough of the company as a whole, from the customer services staff when you book your holiday, all the way throught to the owners of the cottages themselves. They are always friendly and willing to go the extra mile to make sure that you have a fantastic holiday. Honey Bee cottage is a little treasure, set next to the owners home and in acres of farm land, it was beautifully decorated and scrupiously clean, the decor was well thought out and in keeping with the age of the cottage. The owners were very friendly and offered up suggestions of where the best pubs and eating places were. The location of the cottage meant that we were between Scarbough and Whitby, so we were ideally placed to visit their beachs or drive over to the moors too Goathland and the Hole of Horcum. The best part of the holidays was waking up to the sound of cows mooing in the field behind the cottage, the breathtaking sunsets and sunrises and finding the owners dog Ginny outside the front door waiting for her home cooked breakfast sausage every morning and not forgetting the Highland cattle and the owners ponies that would gallop up the field to greet us whenever we left or came back to the cottage.
The location of the cottage was excellent as was the view. The owners were friendly and very helpful. The cottage itself was warm, cosy, beautifully furnished and the comfort factor of the double bed is to die for! The owners obviously have put a lot of thought and effort into making it a real home-from-home.
Cottage was the best equipped and most comfortable place we have stayed in. Owners were very nice and really friendly.
There were lovely views of the countryside, good for the dog as he had lots of room to run around the property. There were lots of pubs that are dog friendly. Great fish and chips in Whitby.
The cottage owners where very accommodating and nice. The holiday was fantastic and the whole family loved it!
The cottage was very well equipped and the views from the property were stunning. The owners were very welcoming, a very relaxing break.
Loved everything. The whole holiday was absolutely fantastic. The owners were the best hosts, generous, friendly and helpful. Couldn't have asked for anything more perfect. The cottage was gorgeous and has everything you could need. It's location is superb and it's a perfect base for any location along the east coast. We will definitely return for another visit. It was difficult to get a mobile phone signal but we wanted to get away from it all so this was not a problem!
We loved the cottage. It was very clean and decorated to a very high standard. The cottage had everything you would need for a short stay, there was even a welcome basket with tea and biscuits and a fresh pint of milk in the fridge. My husband and I took advantage of the amazing scenery and walks in the area while the others went to visit nearby whitby and scarborough. Recommended for a relaxing break.
Honey Bee Cottage was outstanding, the owners were very attentive to all of our needs and the surrounding areas were full of opportunities for all ages and abilities. The highlight was seeing seals on the rocks at Ravenscar.
The cottage was beautiful, the location was fantastic for walking and for visiting local beaches. Lots of friendly local pubs or 20 mins in the car to Scarborough or Whitby meant we never ran out of things to do.
Warmth and cosiness of the place and the wood burner!
The cottage was idyllic and the surroundings beautiful.
A very dog-friendly holiday - lots of great walks and friendly welcoming owners.
It was so peaceful and there was no traffic - it was just what we needed. We would like to go back again, we loved it all.
Excellent cottage, beautiful place, fantastic hosts. Just the relaxing break we all needed.
The owners were most welcoming with a wealth of local information. The location was very peaceful and we had a most relaxing holiday.
Garden is great for children - swings and all. Isolated - but that is a virtue to us. Excellent view across valley and down to the coast at Hayburn Wyke. Good public footpath from the farm.
Warm welcome nice to have owners on the spot; fab location.
An excellent cottage in a truly fantastic location. Very peaceful!
Our second visit to this remote and wonderful retreat. Snow ensured we had to walk the final quarter of a mile to the property. The owners who live adjacent were wonderful, helping with our every need. The cottage was warm and cosy, we had the log burner going very well. We enjoyed the snow, skiing and sledging. We will be back.
Good views from cottage over surrounding countryside. Being very close to the sea.
Cottage is an escape from the rat-race. Superb walking countryside and peaceful location. Log fires and comfortable accommodation helped us enjoy our stay here again
This was our second visit to the cottage and it was equally as good as the first.. The owners were fantastic helping us out when we needed it... We will definitely return.
Loved the remoteness - and the snow. Close to the coast which was lovely. The space was just great outside and the children loved going to see the ponies and sheep. The snow was a bonus and the loan of the sledge was great!
The location was fab, it was a brilliant hideaway for a romantic getaway - we loved it!!!
Great location, comfortable accommodation well presented, dog friendly, overall a great place to stay.
Suberb little farmhouse style cottage. Pub within walking distance and lots of walks available to entertain the dog. Suberb!
The cottage was in a lovely setting, with beautiful views. The village it was located in was charming. We were met by the owners when we arrived, and they were very friendly. The cottage was charming but rather small. It did have three bedrooms but the two single rooms were tiny. The living space also was rather small for four people. The garden area attached to the cottage was very nice. The amenities in the cottage were good, but there was no drying space for clothing.
A excellent cottage in a superb location. The owners were very helpfull nothing was to much trouble. Our dog was also made very welcome. If you like walking this location is also excellent, many walks within 2 miles which are also dog friendly. If you pick this cottage you will return as many have done
Owners' local knowledge was very useful and they suggested great places not generally found in tourist information. Nice to walk in and find milk, sugar and tea ready to have after a long journey. First time in a cottage and we would definitely do again next year.
Beautiful location to base our holiday, in an outstanding area. Kids loved the beaches & fossil exploring on the coast and loved the cottage with the horses.
Fantastic views, great location, had an enjoyable holiday.
This was an excellent cottage in a superb location, the owners were very helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
Fantastic location, beautiful countryside with lots to keep you active. Great for exploring the outdoors.
In overall terms the property was perfect.
Thank you for a wonderful holiday! We had a very relaxing time, the garden and views where fantastic, with a lovely warm atmosphere indoors.
Loved the cottage and it's location...charming country cottage within driving distance of many tourist hot spots, as well as some fab secluded spots.
All very good. Generally the reason we use Sykes.
The location was lovely. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.
The location was idyllic, the owners were extremely welcoming and graciously hospitable and the cottage itself was beatifully appointed and finished to a very high standard.
This was our 2nd stay at Honey Bee Cottage this year, we love everything about it. The cottage is in a perfect location for a quiet and relaxing break but also close enough to large towns should you decide to venture out. Welcoming and friendly owners who leave you alone to enjoy your break but always offer their services should they be required which in itself is a comfort.
Great location, seclusion, log fire, parking
We received a very warm welcome on arrival. The cottage was very comfortable and extremely well equipped.
Very well equipped cottage in a great location.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Honeybee Cottage, the owners were very welcoming without being oppressive. The cottage was clean and every need was catered for. We have booked to go to back to Swallow Cottage next year.
We thought the cottage was very charming and in beautiful surroundings.
The cottage is ideal for a young family and we have enjoyed our stay immensely.
Honey Bee cottage is excellent in every sense of the word! The views are breathtaking, the cottage fab. and the hosts lovely. My 16 month old had such fun looking at the animals. We'll be back!
This cottage is excellent in every way. The owners are very friendly and welcoming and go out of their way to talk to you
Location absolutely to die for Weather fab (does this come guaranteed?) Cottage absolutely gorgeous. Very accessable to beautiful places to visit The owners are fabulous hosts - they are genuinely very interested in your holiday and are very enjoyable company. They are obviously proud of what they do, and deservedly so, they were a huge bonus to my stay Dont hesitate to book this beautiful cottage it is exceptional value for money
Beautiful cottage in a stunning location.
The surroundings were delightful, as was the cottage. The people looking after the cottage were very friendly and helpful.
A haven of peace and tranquillity. Thoroughly recommend it.
We loved the peaceful location, the scenery, the log fire, the quaint look of the property and all of the little extras. Also, we appreciated the books, playing cards etc. The cottage was warm and cosy and it had all home comforts, like a dishwasher, microwave etc. The area had lots to see and do, plus lots of lovely restaurants and pub meals within a few miles radius. We will definitely return.
Excellent location, very warm welcome from owners and cottage in fantastic condition!
The cleanliness of the cottage and standard of furnishings and decor were excellent. It was good to come back to a warm place and to always have hot water. The cottage also offered good value for money.
The cottage was beautiful and well maintained, the owners very welcoming and great thought had obviously gone into the cottage to make it a really enjoyable break.
The owners of the property were friendly and helpful. The cottage was stunning! Could quite happily live there! Easy access to surrounding places of interest and stunning scenery surrounding the cottage.
The owners were extremely friendly and made us very welcome. Our daughter loved the animals they had and was delighted when a couple of baby highland cattle arrived during our stay, even more so when she saw them because they looked like little teddy bears.
The setting and location of the property were excellent, the garden was very child-friendly and the children were able to play outside in a safe environment.
Great second visit to this lovely property and even the weather was glorious. A very relaxing break, perfect location for walks and access to the North Yorkshire coast.
Lovely owners, Cottage and area.
Sykes were very efficient and helpful. The cottage was lovely and the owners friendly. Area was gorgeous, beautiful views from the cottage, lots to see and do fairly nearby.
A beautiful property in an excellent location - lovely walking and cycling routes very close by. The cottage was fitted to a very high standard and everything we could have wished for was provided.
The cottage was in a really stunning location - sea/country views. With a toddler it was brilliant having the animals on site and small walks to do straight from the property. The cottage was beautifully decorated and very clean. It felt like a really special rural retreat.
Loved the location, a very homely cottage to come back to. Views were stunning. Felt this cottage was excellent value for money. The owners were very friendly but left us to our own devices. Although quite an isolated spot nothing was too far away. Wonderful for a week of rest and relaxation, we wouldnt hesitate to recommend it.
Just a lovely place to be, very friendly and homely. Can't wait to come again. Thanks very much.
Very nice cottage, high standard.
An excellent property which we will be visiting again.
Tables in garden and BBQ for use. A very pleasant area and owners very helpful.
The small bedrooms are magical for young girls...real princess bedrooms.
The cottage was fabulous. There was so much land and the cottage was so far from the road that the dog was perfectly safe. The views from the cottage were breathtaking.
The cottage was first class and excellent value for money.
A great location for visiting the local attractions/sights. Owners very welcoming!
The cottage was beautiful. Appreciated welcome tea tray, really nice touch.
Amazing scenery.
A friendly welcome. Away from it all and off the beaten track, literally. My granddaughter loved the animals close at hand, and we could have just sat outside the cottage and enjoyed, rather than touring it was so peaceful. The cottage was clean and cosy.
We've never stayed in a cottage for a holiday before, we usually spend all day sight-seeing and only sleep wherever we've booked accommodation! It was lovely to relax and enjoy the cottage as much as we enjoyed seeing what we'd come to robin hood's bay/whitby for. It was fantastic value (we'd pay this to stay bed&breakfast), and similar to other peoples' comments in the visitor's book...we had lots planned to do outdoors but felt so happy inside that we spent quite a bit of time there. A fantastic short break!
An excellent cottage for a quiet relaxing holiday. Superb views and very friendly helpful owners.
The cottage was in a beautiful setting and had been renovated to an excellent standard. We'll certainly visit again and would recommend the cottage to friends and family.
The cottage had a lovely homely feel about it and the owners were very kind and helpful. The level of equipment was excellent. Sat in the lounge with the log burning stove on as the snow and wild howled around the cottage, we felt really snug!
The cottage was absolutely beautiful and surrounding area superb. A great time was had by all. Thank you very much.
A lovely cottage with superb views and very friendly owners. An excellent weekend.
The cottage was ideally situated for walking and exploring the area. The cottage was very comfortable with beautiful views of the valley.
Tastefully furnished cottage in lovely setting. Walks from the door. Perfect getaway.
We were surprised to be welcomed with a tray of tea and biscuits and the fresh flower arrangements, the cottage was more than we expected. Our children loved their bedrooms and that they were near to the horses and rabbits. We liked to thank you for your big help to book our holiday with you within a few days.
