Reviews

Stayed here for a week, to try glamping. It's still camping! Setting unique, so peaceful and secluded. Surrounding area fabulous. When yurt was new it would have been spectacular, but aside from creepy crawlies (it's on a lake, in a forest, so we expected those!), there were other areas which let it down. Spot cleaning excellent, lovely clean bedding and towels, loads of hot water. But place looks tired and run down, chipped paint on radiator, plus lots of dust, a patch of mushrooms growing inside yurt, dusty drawers under bed (only clothes storage area so we lived out of our suitcase), bathroom damp with lots of mouldy paint around skirting. Kitchen sink sealant peeling, a dead woodlouse in bathroom cabinet which was noted on a review last month, alongside an empty can, so this has not been cleaned for some time. Small details, easily rectified which have been overlooked and which spoilt it for me. With a little more care and attention thus could be a wonderful place again. Sykes have chosen not to publish my review to date which was similar to this, and I have tried unsuccessfully to contact them. I believe it to be a fair assessment, I am fussy about details!

Decided to do something a little different for our anniversary this year. And so glad we did what a great getaway very secluded and private our yurt was clean and tidy. A large comfortable bed large bath tub and a well stocked kitchen. The under floor heating was Brilliant. The hot tub was beautifully hot and after a day out walking we chilled in it. The sauna was a great way to relax aching muscles. Even in December the yurt was in a sheltered area that meant we spent time outside having bbqs feeding swans ducks and geese. The owners we met at the start were very helpful and showed us around and how to work things. Would highly recommend for anyone who wants a getaway to relax. Some beautiful walks and places to visit

The pictures do not do this place justice! I have never stayed in a yurt before, but I’m already looking into visiting more yurts! Clean, well presented and all the amenities you would need. Comfortable bed and a very cute touch with a pull down screen and projector with a wide range of dvds to chose from, perfect to watch in the evenings with the door open feeling the fresh air. The hot tub made the evenings perfect for when the outside temperature would drop, to sit in there with a glass of wine and watch the ducks on the lake. The lake itself made our experience. Quiet and calm lake with all different ducks, swans, geese etc. rowing around the lake was not only fun but so romantic. We took a stroll into the village and it is so clean and so quiet, the pub was lovely and welcoming and serves good quality food. I really do recommend this place I would love to return and spend a week instead of a couple days! So much to explore and see. Me and my partner had the best time what a lovely tranquil setting.... thankyou!

There is only one word for this place and that is AMAZING :) booked this for my fiance's birthday we did not know what to expect as we have never stayed in a yurt before, but omg was we blown away!! From the yurt to the surrounding area and the wildlife, it's just the most perfect place for you to relax, unwind and recharge your battery's. My fiance was in his element, fishing and out on the private boat, also the private hot tub and sauna make it that extra special, the underfloor heating made the yurt so warm and cosy and had the most comfortable bed, we enjoyed our 3 night stay here and will definitely be back:)

We liked the overall feeling of being totally alone and buried in beautiful surroundings. It was so peaceful and with daily visitors from our duck families. We had a few days with rain but didn't spoil the experience. Didn't expect the yurt to be so big, then the extra outdoor part just makes it plenty. We used the rowing boat at least once a day to visit all the wonderful hidden pockets around the lake. Lovely people that own the yurts too!

So peaceful and relaxing. They really have thought of everything and have gone the extra mile to make this little place spectacular. We loved it and will be back!

Rated by Miss Rutter reviewed on 11th July 2015

We loved this holiday, it was so secluded, idyllic and away from it all, waking up to the lake and surrounding greenery, in particular the wildlife on the lake. We also had use of the owners rowing boat, parked right outside our Yurt and we went for a Yurt that had its own hot tub and sauna. This was better than we imagined and we would do it again. Being able to fish in the lake whenever you want is also a great plus.

Rated by Mrs Marples reviewed on 13th June 2015

Great location with fishing, nice walks and peaceful surroundings.

Rated by Mr Neville reviewed on 16th May 2015

"We liked being away from all the hustle and bustle but still surrounded by home comforts. The hot tub was just divine to relax in with views of the lake. The local birds were so friendly and the rowing boat was romantic. The home cinema inside the Yurt was such fun too. All in all we couldn't have wanted for more!"

Rated by Ms Bell reviewed on 12th April 2015

We had a warm welcome from the owner, the location of Lakeview Yurt was perfect, very warm and cosy. The views and peaceful setting was one of the best things, with lots of different wildlife around! The outdoor chiminea was nice of an evening (especially for toasting marshmallows)! The hot tub is always a nice bonus too! Overall was a nice relaxing break away!

Very peaceful and private, underfloor heating was brilliant and the location was beautiful. Very friendly welcome given by the owner! The private hot tub was a delight on cold evenings and the lake was busy with wildlife and looked stunning.

Rated by Miss Challen reviewed on 10th January 2015

This was the most relaxing holiday we have had in a long time. The Yurt was great and the area is beautiful - so peaceful and relaxing. The lake is fabulous as are the geese, ducks and swans. Loved every minute of it.

Rated by Miss Rogers reviewed on 5th January 2015

It was the position of the Yurt. The quietness, lots of different wildlife and the fact you are more or less totally isolated in the most beautiful of surroundings. Hot tub and Sauna for your own private use was an added bonus. We loved it!

Rated by Mrs Thomas reviewed on 16th December 2014

Exactly as it was described - a perfect secluded retreat with everything that we could want, all supplied.

Rated by Mr Allen reviewed on 10th December 2014

Fantastic lakeside location secluded and peaceful. Enjoyed a row on the lake followed by relaxing in the hot tub even in the cold of november and then supper sat outside cooked in the chiminea oven with a glass of wine. Couldn't get any better. We loved it.

Rated by Mr Litherland reviewed on 25th November 2014

The Yurt was fantastic - so relaxing and such a unique experience. We used the hot tub everyday and even cooked pizza and baked potatoes on the chiminea!

Rated by Mr Goodridge reviewed on 19th November 2014

We loved staying in the Yurt, the bed was very comfortable. The kitchen was lovely and just the right size for two, it was nice to have a dishwasher. There is now an indoor toilet and the bath was huge. The under floor heating soon had the whole Yurt cosy and warm. We spent our evenings in the hot tub and sauna, it was lovely to lay back and look up at the stars. We will be booking again.

Rated by Mr Ulla reviewed on 14th October 2014

Peaceful and quiet in a secluded location but lots of places to visit easily reached. Able to relax and enjoy the hot tub & sauna, and the lakeside. The extra comfy bed made sleeping so easy. No TV or internet made relaxing even easier, listened to lots of music instead.

Rated by Mrs Oyem reviewed on 11th October 2014

Peace and quiet; pheasants on the decking and a visiting kingfisher. A wonderful setting.Toasting marshmallows in the fire pit and sitting in the hot tub after a days walking. We will definitely go back.

Rated by Mrs Wheatley reviewed on 13th September 2014

My husband and I had one of the best week's holiday ever at Lakeview Yurt. The beautiful setting and peaceful surroundings were a big bonus. We loved the lake and the wildfowl, made lots of new friends with ducks, swans, geese and especially two baby Moorhens! The accommodation was ideal, spacious, classy and had one of the most comfortable beds I've ever slept in! The owners were lovely and made us very welcome. Can't fault it, and we will certainly book Lakeside Yurt again in the very near future.

Rated by Mrs Jenkins reviewed on 28th August 2014

Myself and my wife of 2 days decided to spend our 'Mini moon' at the yurt and absolutely loved it! Hidden away and perfectly secluded it gave us exactly what we were looking for after a busy couple of months leading up to the wedding. Admittedly from the outside when you arrive (and we arrived in pouring rain) you could be a little put off but once you step through the door you couldn't be in a more welcoming and homely place. Everything inside was clean and modern and the underfloor heating and stove were added bonuses. Even during a fairly miserable week in October we managed to be out in the brilliant hot tub at least twice a day and made use of the pizza oven and electric grill plate on the veranda which overlooked the lake. We even managed to jump in the little rowing boat and enjoy a late afternoon row across with the three resident geese in tow! The position of the yurt makes it perfect to explore the local area and we spent a day at the races in Cheltenham and saw all sorts of other sites. The local pub in Beckford is reasonable but for a really great pub meal jump in the car and head to the Royal Oak in Gretton. Fortunately we discovered this place early on in the week and returned several times. If you can manage to get in to the Lakeview Yurt then you won't be dissappointed. The guy who built the first 2 yurts was in the process of building a third which now appears to be open.

This is the last night of our 3 night stay. We have been blown away, the yurt and location is perfect. We met the owner who was very friendly, we followed him to the yurt and he showed us around, an indoor toilet has been added 2 weeks ago which is good, there is also a new Japanese BBQ which we used a lot. We cannot fault anything, the bed is most comfortable we have ever slept in and the bath is gorgeous. The local pub The Beckford Inn does amazing food. Sitting out on the decking overlooking the lake with a glass of wine and the chimenea burning has been the most peaceful thing I've ever done. We have adopted lots of duck and swan friends, bring a lot of bread :) There is a visitors book in the yurt filled with amazing reviews so not sure why people haven't also done TripAdvisor reviews. We are sad to go home tomorrow, it's been the most relaxing 3 days of our lives. Enjoy xx

Rated by Mr Lamont reviewed on 12th July 2014

Totally relaxing seclusion from the busy world and escapism into wonderful yurt world! This is our third visit to the the owners retreats and each time it is indeed a treat! The lake is just outstandingly beautiful to wake up to each morning and can be enjoyed from the hot tub too! The geese, the ducks and the excellent fishing make this a truly back to nature experience, but perfectly complimented by modern luxury.

Rated by Ms Phipps reviewed on 10th May 2014

Love the Yurt. It's a great original idea and alternative to camping. The scenery from the yurt is beautiful and the facilities make it; the hot tub is great. Love the chiminea and watching the stars at night. The wildlife were great to watch and feed. The chicks are very cute and fluffy. It's a great place to chill out relax and watch the world go by.

Rated by Miss Wilson reviewed on 22nd April 2014

Loved the isolated spot, the privacy, the interior of the Yurt - it looks amazing and is bigger than expected! Underfloor heating and attention to detail with quality furnishings. Bed and bedding were lovely, good roll-top bath, bioethanol fire and steam oven. Hidden away from the rest of the world, enjoyed the long, lazy days doing nothing!

Rated by Miss Clarke reviewed on 14th January 2014

Liked everything about the Yurt. The peace and quiet was great to re-charge the batteries. The hot tub and sauna were amazing.

Rated by Mr John reviewed on 8th November 2013

The yurt is located on the far edge of a lake. No passers by, no other buildings visible. It is so peaceful we were able to completely unwind. The decking outside the yurt overhangs the lake and we were able to sit out in the evening next to the chiminea listening to music, sipping some wine, bliss! The yurt is well equipped, with a very comfortable bed and roll top bath next to the bed! We loved the hot tub and used it every day. Close to Cheltenham, steam railway at Toddington, great retro cinema in Evesham. We would certainly re-book! The owner was very friendly.

Rated by Mrs Mathews reviewed on 14th December 2012

A weekend at this wonderful oasis was a surprise from my partner for my 30th birthday and I can honestly say it was nothing short of amazing! This place is a hidden gem, private and in a stunning setting. Located just beside a lake off the beaten track it is the perfect getaway for a romantic weekend. A private hot tub means great nights under the stars (don't forget your champagne) and the candles around the edge are a nice touch. The private sauna looks across the lake and you can dine al fresco in the morning with a heated table to sit at. The owner was very friendly and helpful and obviously cares a great deal about the property and the environment using a compostable toilet which is a lovely feature. There's not much around the area unless you have a car but it is perfect for leisurely drives around The Cotswolds and is 20 minutes to Bourton on the Water which is worth a visit (with afternoon tea highly recommended). The Gardeners Arms in nearby Alderton does a lovely quiet meal and nice local ales. Will definitely have to visit again sometime for romantic relaxation!!

Rated by Del L reviewed on 12th December 2012

Away from it all in the most beautiful of settings and yet just 5 minutes walk to the village. The Yurt is lovely, clean, warm well equipped and the view across the lake amazing. The solitude made it the most restful time of my life. Loved the sauna and lazing in the hot tub, just being able to do exactly what I wanted with no-one else around was wonderful. Lots of local facilities when needed but a complete get away from it all heaven.

Lakeview Yurt is the most peaceful, tranquil amazing place I have ever stayed. The owners have taken their time to find the best spot on the edge of a beautiful fishing lake with fantastic views. The Yurt itself is well thought out with everything you need. The best part for us was being in the hot tub on a clear starry night listening to the wildlife, you couldn't ask for anything better. We will be back again!

The facilities were fabulous especially the hot tub and the sauna. As hard as it was to wake up from the most comfortable bed we have ever slept in, the views we did wake up to were spectacular. We had an amazing time. We will be back and will be recommending it to all of our friends.
