Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
Gorgeous accommodation, everything you need, we have loved our time here, so have our young children and dog. Cottage itself is located opposite lovely stream, local shop and you can see the local Engine Inn from front room window family and dog friendly! Comfy beds, 2nd bedroom is a good sized twin which is perfect for us with 2small kids, living space is great size and big enough for large dog bed without taking over our space. Fully equipped kitchen, bathroom looks like it's recently been refurbished, along with separate toilet. Really have no faults at all and couldn't be happier with the cottage. Owners live upstairs and were kind enough to let us know we didn't need to rush out as cleaners are coming later in the day, really appreciated that. Cark itself is beautiful, very small little village, pretty much one road running through it and could easily be missed, but once you get off the road there are beautiful walks, could go on for miles. Plenty of info in cottage for walks and places of interest. Already recommended to family and friends and would love to come back in the summer.
Just returned from a week at this lovely cottage, it is in a beautiful situation in the quiet little village of Cark with the river Eea running just in front of the house. Very comfy and modern interior. Very thoughtfully furnished and all that one needs to make it home from home. The wine and crisps on arrival were a special treat. The food at both the Engine Inn and the Rose and Crown was good and there are plenty of places to go nearby and lots of great walks. After over thirty years of staying in holiday cottages have to say this comes top of my list. Thank you for a great holiday.
We have just returned from this stylish well laid out apartment. It was so clean and comfortable, especially the beds, which we very much appreciated after an active day exploring the lakes. It had everything you needed and the bonus of a utility room with a washer, separate dryer and a freezer so we could stock up on all the local goodies in the area to take home. A real home from home.
The Old Mill is a fantastic holiday cottage. Every detail has been thought of, with the guest in mind. Idyllic setting. An excellent base to explore South and North Lakes. Will highly recommend.
We stayed over the Christmas period and the cottage had a lovely Christmas tree and table decoration, very welcoming!
An excellent stay in well laid out accommodation, in a lovely village. We would highly recommend this property.
It was really welcoming, with lovely little touches. We would definitely come again!
This was a fantastic cottage, hence we have booked again next year.
The holiday home was superb in every way. The village location is excellent with great pubs, bakery and corner shop. A very relaxing holiday.
Quiet, peaceful location. Just metres from river Eea. Top quality furnishing and fittings. Within easy walking distance of. Engine Inn, good ale and CAMRA discount, and Rose and Crown, good food. Perfect base for Southern Lakes.
It was first class, no complaints what-so-ever. The best holiday let we have ever rented. It was in a good location and quiet.
The cottage was perfect in every way. The village was very quiet and we were able to relax and enjoy the short break, only wish it could have been longer. We would love to return in the future.
We particularly like the standard of The Old Mill, location and proximity to two very nice pubs. Lovely walks on door step.
This is a lovely ground floor apartment, extremely well furnished and equipped. Two well furnished and comfortable bedrooms, ideal for four adults. Large modern kitchen and dining area, large lounge and flat screen television, comfortable seating , all in all a very smart and cosy rental showing good taste by the owners. No dishwasher, but fridge and separate freezer which was very useful.
We loved this property. In a superb position for touring the Lakes, this area is really lovely, so nice to have the sea. Morecambe Bay views were beautiful in the Winter sunshine. All in all a great holiday!
The ground floor 2 bedroomed apartment was ideal for us and our two pooches. First visit to Lake District and its amazing. Apartment is well placed to explore the area. The apartment has all you need including a good utility room for muddy boots! And a fab coffee machine! Would have liked an enclosed garden for the pooches but that definitely didn't spoil anything. Cartmel has the best cream tea too! The pub on the hill did slightly better food that the Engine Inn over the road but both served good ale! We've had a fabulous week, despite a couple of rainy days and the apartment was part of that!! (A bottle of white wine was left for us too which was a nice touch).
Beautiful apartment. Well equipped - even had a freezer which was great when we wanted to take meat home from an award winning butcher in Grange. Quiet. very good neighbours who are like your own personal tourist info guides. We didn't meet the owners until the day before we left when they happened to be out talking to the neighbours. Would definitely go there again. Our dogs were very welcome especially in the local pub across the road.
The entire holiday was better than we expected. Couldn't fault the cottage at all. Very good location.
Location was perfect, property was excellent, seemed to be no expense spared on the decor and furniture in property. Really, really, really excellent.
The property is immaculately clean, we could not find fault. Everything you need is here. We will highly recommend this property to friends and family.
The cottage is in an excellent location and very comfortable. We were blessed with good weather but had it not been we would still have enjoyed our stay. It is the best dog friendly we have stayed in to date and will no doubt return.
Cold outside; cosy and warm inside. Close to a great pub.
Wonderful ground floor property, warm and private. Lovely walks from the door. The Engine Pub has cask ales and lovely meals. Very good, lovely holiday.
The whole property was brilliant, and the beds were extremely comfortable. It was a pleasure staying there.
Really enjoyable. Would highly recommend the property. Two good pubs for food, well placed accommodation for tourists, enjoyed the steam train and boat trip.
We enjoyed the whole experience. good pub up the road. lots of places to visit. plenty of room in the cottage. facilities inside the cottage were excellent. good for disabled as its all on one level. the only downside was that we would have liked a little bit more outside space, as we had two dogs with us.
Lovely cottage in a lovely area. Nice village with nice pubs for food and drink, and a good local shop. There are some nice local walks.
Excellently appointed, very clean and extremely comfortable beds. wonderful hot water and heating.
Good base in a lovely area. The village had a couple of good pubs and pleasant walks straight from the door.
The flat was lovely and very comfortable. It was in a good position for exploring the lakes and coast.
A beautiful place kept to a high standard. We had a lovely time and the area was perfect.
Cottage was very warm and cosy. It was in an area we had not explored before, it also was in a good position for the southern lakes. Being all ground floor accommodation it was good for the elderly.
Cottage more then we expected, was more like a 4 star hotel, location beautiful, people very friendly, local pub & shop all you needed. Dogs enjoyed it to. Great Base for touring. Will definitely be going back next year.
The location was great and the cottage was superb. The welcome wine and cookies were an added treat to start our holiday off. Very relaxing.
The cottage is in a lovely location with easy road access to all places we wanted to visit. We particularly liked Cartmel race course which was just a 5 minute drive away. There were lots of other nice walks close by for us to take the dogs. The cottage was beautiful, very comfortable and well equipped. There was good food at the pub across the road and a shop straight across the road too for anything we needed. This was an excellent holiday.
The location was great, and the village lovely. Holiday was better then we expected so very pleased. Loved the utilities and loved everything about the mill. Even the river outside was soothing to hear at night.
Spacious, comfortable and very tastefully decorated. All that you needed was there. Train station 5 minutes away. Shop and pub 1 minute away - serves great food. Super situation and lovely property.
The house felt as if it had freshly been decorated, with nicely co-ordinated furnishings in both the bedrooms. The welcome present of wine and biscuits were very nice, and the nespresso machine and pods were highly appreciated.
