Hayloft Cottage, Staintondale

A lovely cottage - very cosy and had everything we needed. It was very clean and tidy with a well equipped kitchen.

The cottage was very spacious, in a beautiful quiet location and everything about the cottage was more than we expected. Overall, a brilliant holiday.

The location was very good; within a short driving distance to main seaside resorts, the views were beautiful, and the walks around the area were excellent. The cottage was really lovely, very clean, well furnished and very cosy. Would definitely recommend.

This was a return visit to this property and we found the accommodation as comfortable and welcoming as on the previous occasion. Excellent base from which to explore this part of North Yorkshire. Hosts very friendly including Abby the dog.

A beautifully appointed cottage with a very helpful owner in a fantastic location.

The cottage was warm, clean and welcoming. Everything you would need was supplied in the kitchen. Real Christmas tree was a lovely touch to our New Year break. Owners and their lovely dog were very friendly. Great location for many walks but remember essentials as no local shops. We travelled in to Whitby to Sainsburys to stock up for our stay. Would stay again

The cottage had all the amenities of home and the location was fantastic. Very friendly owners and ample car parking in front of the cottage. Lots of information provided on local walks and attractions.

The owners of the cottages lived right opposite so if you needed anything they were available. Our 2 small dogs loved the cottage and enclosed garden. The cottage was immaculate.

The bathroom and kitchen were sparkling and well fitted out - we couldn't ask for more in terms of amenities either. It has everything you need and is very pet friendly. Definitely 4 star at least. The locals were very welcoming and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our visits to the local pubs and walks around the area. For exploring the North Yorkshire Moors this was a perfect location to stay. Would definitely go back.

Charming cottage in a beautiful rural location, with great views and great access to many tourist areas. Lots of dog friendly places that were of a high standard close by.

The cottage was positioned well so it was easy access to scarborough and whitby. It was spotlessly clean well equipped however it did not have a DVD player as stated in the information. This was not a problem as we read and watched TV, the only minor complaint would be , I could have done with a wall mirror in the double bedroom there was a small free standing mirror but it was difficult to see to dry my hair . All in all it was great and we would recommend the cottage to other prospective holidaymakers

The enclosed garden was a real bonus especially for a dog friendly place. The décor and furnishings were lovely, I especially liked the master bedroom. Fantastic kitchen facilities, nothing was forgotten.

It was was nice to come back after a long day of walking with the dogs. The house was a welcoming place to come back to, warm and cosy.

The Hayloft is a lovely cottage with excellent standards of decor and facilities. The interior mixes clean and modern with a traditional building fantastically. Location is very well placed for Whitby and Scarborough, with local beaches even closer. The owners were friendly and welcoming, and the farm dog even more so! The booking process through Sykes Cottages was easy and friendly, and the documentation, directions, etc all very good.

The owners have done an excellent job in converting this former hayloft into a very comfortable and well equipeed holiday cottage. The ground floor is open plan with a spacious kitchen area and a sitting and dining area. Upstairs there are two bedrooms and a bathroom. Outside the back door there is an enclosed patio/garden with picnic bench. The owners and their dog are ver friendly and helpful. They only live just across the courtyard so are easy to contact if any problems. The cottage is great for dog owners as they allow up to two dogs to stay and reading through the guest book this was very much appreciated. Their is a lot of useful information in the cottage for dog owners as well. It is very well situated, close to the coast and a short drive to Scarborough and Whitby. Would certainly recommend this cottage and would like to come back here.

The Hayloft was a lovely cottage with a great combination of character but fully modern inside. We received a warm welcome from the owners and even more from the farm dog! The cottage location was excellent for Whitby and the coast, and the info provided directed us to a wonderful beach and a dog-friendly pub with great food.

The cottage for me was excellent, it was spotless. 5 stars. The surrounding area was lovely with a view down to the sea. Nice friendly owners and dog. It was so peaceful, we couldn't hear any traffic what so ever.

Ideally based for getting to nearby tourist spots.

In a quiet location within easy access of the coast and the forest. Comfortable furnishings and beds.

A very peaceful and tranquil property in the heart of North Yorkshire. Fantastic views from the farm and very quiet location. Ideal for getting away from it all, yet only twenty minutes from Scarborough or Whitby.

The cottage is well equipped and we had a 'home from home' experience. We thought the real Christmas tree and the box of chocolates left by the owners was a nice touch. The cottage is ideally located as it is literally half way between Scarborough and Whitby - two of our favourite places. We actually spent some of Christmas day on the beach, something we have all wanted to do but have never managed until now.

The location for ourselves was excellent as we like to get out and about. The cottage was fantastic in a lovely area with so much to explore. The owners were very nice, very welcoming people and with very nice children. I do have to mention Abby there wonderful dog, she was fantastic.Sykes did us proud!

Excellent location. The owners were very friendly and helpful. A must do is to go to Stoupe Beck beach, it is great for dogs and also try The Falcon Inn for food.

The location of the cottage was very peaceful and good for walks. Our hostess was very helpful and recommended dog friendly places to eat and also the wonderful Stoupe Beck beach - which we would never have found without her directions!

We have three dogs ao are always looking for cottages where we can take the dogs. The cottage was very clean and had a secure rear garden where we could let the dogs out. It was ideally situated for local walks or getting out to see the eastern part of the North York Moors. We will definately be going back again

Our stay at Hayloft cottage was excellent. The cottage itself was picture postcard perfect and it's location was idyllic with fantastic views down the yorkshire coast to the sea. With a young family we were able to safely take long walks down the country roads as there was little if any traffic for most of the time. It served us as a great base to visit all the beautiful fishing villages dotted along the coast as well as the larger towns of Whitby and Scarborough. The kids loved the holiday and our youngest fell in love with the owners pet dog, who is quite possibely the most patient and gentle dog I have ever come in contact with. All in all a fantastic place to stay.

Very friendly owners and helpful welcome pack. Cottage was well equipped. Good meals at the 'Oak Wheel' in Burmston and Bryherstones in Staintondale.

The cottage has a lovely setting and is a wonderfully quiet and relaxed place to stay. The decor is modern and fresh while retaining the comfy country cottage feel. The owners couldn't have been more friendly and helpful, especially with local knowledge on the best beaches and places to eat. We loved it and will recommend to our friends.

The totally enclosed rear patio/garden was perfect for the children and dogs. A very good base for visiting all areas, local pubs and shops. Good walkers roads.

The property was well maintained and was kept immaculately clean. Good information on the surrounding area was provided and the owner was very helpful. We really enjoyed Robin Hood Bay and that stretch of coast was both beautiful and unspoiled.

Cottage was beautiful,very clean plenty of nice touches, bedding towels lily white, chocolates on arrival, nice back with table, washing line, great when you got kids.

The host & the cottage were perfect; we quickly felt at home, it has everything you need for a home from home holiday with views of the sea. Walks, pub with good food near by, plenty of places on coast or in land to visit. We have been to the area for many years and can safely say this is one of the nicest cottages we have stayed in.

We have in the past stayed at a number of cottages and this was probably the best cottage we have stayed in. The conversion was to a high standard and was decorated tastefully. The cottage was conveniently situated for both Scarborough and Whitby. We found the Yorkshire coast dramatic and the beaches sandy and clean, with plenty of places to visit in the area.

Although the cottage was in a lovely and very peaceful location, it was only a couple of miles from the A171 road so it was easy to get to the main road for our various journeys throughout the week. Had a great time and the owner welcomed our 2 dogs, which is sometimes a problem as some only allow 1.

Central location for the beach, moors and towns. It was really useful having stairgates, cots and highchairs available. A very comfortable cottage that was a joy to return to after a full day of activities.

The accommodation was excellent. Very comfortable and it had everything you could need. Fantastic that they provided a cot, high chair and stair gates - meant we had room in the car for the suitcases! The location was superb for exploring Scarborough, Whitby and Robin Hood's Bay. We liked the quiet location on a lovely farm with the North Sea visible in the distance. The property was fitted out quite recently and is very modern. It has a large patio/garden with a picnic table. We were blessed with great weather. The location was convenient for visiting much of the Yorkshire Moors especially along the coast.

An absolutely fabulous time. The cottage exceeded all expectations and was so close to all areas of attraction. Very close to 'The Falcon'- an excellent pub. Had a thoroughly fantastic time and the cottage was just ideal. A truly beautiful part of the world.
