Cons: cleanliness is very, very poor.. we ended up leaving this booking after 4 nights due to the poor hygiene of the property. When we arrived, there was a lump of fat in the sink, hair in the shower, hair around the bathroom sink, stains in the toilet, grease and food down the oven door, mould in the cooking pans, rusty pizza trays, half eaten pizza under the sofa, chocolate wrappers under the bed, dirt and coffee down the side of the sofa, pet hair on the rug & more. We managed four nights until we decided to go... we did not contact the owner before leaving as they would not have been able to solve all these issues for us in our stay and we actually would have felt very uncomfortable having them come into the property and clean it whilst my mum was in bed with a migraine from stress. There was a dirty cloth left in one of the bins when we arrived. They need to upgrade massively - the place needs a huge deep clean. Id say they need to buy a new kettle (it was disgusting), new pans, a new oven.. if you aren’t bothered about cleanliness then yes this cottage is fine. My mum had such bad anxiety over the stay she ended up poorly in bed for a day and it really did ruin our trip. She paid for this as a treat for us both. I contacted the owner via Sykes and they decided not to refund us for the nights we left as we had left a review sykes and they weren’t given change to sort the issues whilst we were there.. but it shouldn’t be like this. We shouldn’t have to be removing other people’s hair from a shower and half eaten pizza from the floor.. I think this is awful! Please avoid if you can, - we have been going to North Yorkshire for 20+ years and there are much much nicer places to stay! The Bay holiday park was cleaner than here! Pros: it’s close to Filey, they left a nice welcome basket with treats in. The garden was also nice and there was a very small parking space out the front.
Love this lovely cosy warm and welcoming cottage. Handy location for Filey Scarborough and Bridlington. Good food at the Ship and Harry American Diner Good for Takeaways. Extremely Clean Well kept cottage
We had a lovely stay at Sunnyside, the cottage was fabulous (the website photos don't give it justice). The cleanliness was outstanding and the Covid guidelines were all in place. We felt very comfortable. The owners are very helpful and friendly and all the extras were very much appreciated. My husband had an accident before our holiday and the owners went above and beyond in accommodating his needs. We would highly recommend a holiday at Sunnyside and we will definitely stay again.
Another lovely stay at this lovely little cottage in muston near Filey. Always clean and well kept! Ideal for owners with pets as there is a small courtyard but also a secluded garden at the back which is great for dogs to roam securely . Ideal location to visit different places including Filey which is close by either around 10 mins in the car or for walkers about 40 - 50 mins. Lovely village pub the ship inn which serves lovely home made pub food and always very welcoming! Walk to hunmanby village is about 30 mins which has a path all the way along the road where you will find few pubs again the white swan serving good food which is very cheap !! Would recommend the Downcliffe hotel along Filey front for a nice beverage or two and to sit and watch the world go by ! Would definitely recommend this cottage for an ideal base to explore the area!! The Clark family x
We really enjoyed staying at Sunnyside cottage. It was ideally situated for exploring nearby Filey, Scarborough and Whitby. The cottage itself we found to be very clean, and well stocked with everything we needed. We will definitely be coming back to Sunnyside
The location of Sunnyside Cottage was good, and it is a cosy cottage. The owner was very helpful and responsive to query about operation of shower. We had a lovely few days at Sunnyside Cottage.
Sunnyside Cottage is a real home from home with everything we needed, great location too.

Excellent cottage in a very nice friendly village.
We actually discovered Sunnyside Cottage for the first time this year in March and enjoyed our stay so much we returned in October too. This cottage is maintained by the owners and you can tell, there's just a little bit more care that goes into getting it ready for guests arrival, no dust anywhere etc! Plus on both occasions we were greeted with a cute welcome basket, including bread, eggs and treats for our dog. Loved the range cooker and we had all the amenities to cook as if at home, far too much time spent around the kitchen table in the evenings! That said, that was partly down to the fact we got the log burner going so well it was a bit too warm in the living room at points. The cottage is in a lovely little village with a character packed (dog friendly) pub just a few doors along. Happy to recommend the Ship Inn, ate there a number of times including Sunday lunch but be warned do arrive hungry! The locals were really very welcoming too. Muston is a great location for dog walking, we went across the meadows to Gristhorpe, parked at Reighton for a meadow walk to Hunmanby Gap and then a beach walk back. There are lots of locations to enjoy walks and pub lunches, if you choose to stay here so many are mentioned in the visitors book in the cottage. We'll definitely be booking again.
The location was perfect for walking in to Filey & a short drive to Scarborough & Bridlington. The Local pub, The Ship in Muston served very good food & allowed dogs in. The garden was a real treasure & the provisions left by the owners were a lovely surprise. A very comfortable cottage & would love to visit again.
The cottage was just what we wanted and allowed us to bring our dog along. The location gave us a great central base for days out and some great walks in and around the village. We would highly recommend the pub in the village, well within the 2 minutes walking distance you advise and good valve quality food at a reasonable price.
We loved the cottage as it was so cosy and the owners seemed to of thought of everything! We loved the close proximity to Filey Beach, it was perfect there for our dog & the walks in the country park! We really loved the log burner in the lounge!
Very well equipped. Great location for exploring the surrounding beaches. A lovely cottage... Home from home

Cottage was very well equipped, the owners have really thought of everything, down to dog bowls and treats. Local beaches were spectacular.
The cottage was in an excellent location for touring the area. It was warm and very comfortable. There was also welcome gifts which were a very thoughtful touch. The cottage was spacious and very clean on arrival. The local people in Muston & Hunmandby were ever so helpful too. Wouldn't hesitate to stay again in the future.
We loved the wood-burner, and the cottage in general. Very homely and cosy.
Cottage was absolutely beautiful and extremely comfortable. All amenities were excellent and the welcome received from the owners extremely warm and friendly. A first class holiday home that I would definitely use again and recommend to friends and family. The location was ideal for touring the local area.
We found this cottage to be the best we have ever stayed in and the garden was also excellent. Try the 'Cottage Inn' in Hunmanby - the food was excellent. Will definitely go back!
Very comfortable beds and it felt like home to the family.
It was very clean with plenty of towels.
Had a thoroughly enjoyable stay in this comfortable cosy cottage which is situated in an ideal location for touring the East coast and North Yorkshire moors. Would recommend to all family and friends.
The property was comfortable, clean and warm. Adequate parking. Ideal location for local holiday centres and food stores. We will stay again without doubt.
Convenient location for walking around the local area, quiet but not remote. The property is a comfortable and homely base. Enjoyed the break immensely.
House was really lovely, in a lovely location, near to everything.
The owners were very friendly and welcoming. Cottage very cosy, homely, clean and tastefully decorated with everything you need.
We appreciated the villages being close by and the pub only a short walk away. The cottage was beautiful, we will definitely be stopping there again.
The property has an excellent kitchen, we were able to cook meals like at home - the cooker was very good. The main bedroom was very spacious, and the property is in a good location with off road parking also. One of the best cottages we have stayed at in North Yorkshire!
