This comfortable, well-maintained, semi-detached cottage is located next to the owners’ pub in the heart of Middleton near Wirksworth, close to historic village of Cromford. This wonderful Middleton cottage is perfect for groups of walkers, families, and groups of friends looking to enjoy the outdoors and explore this beautiful part of Derbyshire. This Middleton cottage has three lovely bedrooms boasting feature beams, including a delightful family bedroom with a double bed, a mezzanine level with twin beds, and an en-suite shower room. Downstairs, the cosy, open plan living area is the perfect space for everyone to gather and relax, and simply enjoy your time together. Outside, soak up the sunshine on the patio and on warm summer evenings, enjoy al fresco dining as you discuss the day’s adventures. Middleton is a charming little village. Next door, the owners’ own pub makes the perfect spot to unwind with a refreshing drink after a day of walking. The National Stone Centre is just a short walk from this delightful Middleton cottage, as is access to the sensational surrounding countryside and an abundance of wonderful walking trails. Explore the nearby Carsington Water and the High Peak Trail where rock climbing and cycling can be enjoyed at every level. Well Dressing is unique to Derbyshire, and the nearby market town of Wirksworth combines this tradition with lively carnivals. The beautiful Chatsworth House and Haddon Hall are within easy reach of this Middleton cottage, as well as Matlock Bath, with its spectacular cable car rides, the newly-restored Ecclesbourne Valley Railway, and Gulliver's Kingdom. Only two miles away from this Middleton cottage, the Derwent Valley Mills World Heritage Site in Cromford is certainly not to be missed. The former quarry and lead mining village of Middleton is set on a prominent hillside above the nearby towns of Wirksworth and Cromford, just eight miles from the popular destination of Matlock. The village layout is composed of a long main street leading into nearby Wirksworth, which is home to a village shop and a good local pub. The surrounding countryside offers wonderful walking and cycling routes throughout the region, with the disused High Peak Railway line close by recently converted into a path known as the High Peak Cycle Trail. The nearby town of Matlock provides a good range of shops and pubs, whilst the many National Trust properties and museums throughout the area are not to be missed.

Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Shop 2 miles, pub next door. Note: Limited headroom in mezzanine area, accessed by very narrow staircase, care to be taken. Note: Pub does not serve food.

The location was perfect for our needs, cycling, walking and socialising in lovely pubs! The locals were so friendly and helpful and we were made to feel welcome by the cottage owners and all the people we met in the village. The cottage kitchen is more than adequate to facilitate cooking on an evening of which we did and if that is too much trouble then many eating establishments are not too far away . We had a brilliant time.
The location in the heart of the village with lots of wonderful walks on the doorstep and very little traffic - it was like going back in time. The Cottage was comfortable and had everything you need.

A lovely cottage and great location. The owners couldn't have been more helpful and accommodating. We really enjoyed our stay! The real bonus was in the little touches, friendliness and the quality of the accommodation that, for us, made the difference. A great area for walking, sightseeing and just relaxing. The pub was excellent and was particularly enjoyed by the real ale drinkers of our family! Many, many thanks.
Pickle Cottage was in an excellent position for us in the Peak District, being central to most places. The cottage was well equipped and decorated to a high standard.
A fantastic, well equipped property which was deceptively big inside. We were made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived until we left and it was completely dog friendly.
The cottage smelt fresh and was very clean. Everyone was very friendly. The cottage was a good base in a nice village to explore the Dales.
A comfortable cottage finished to high standard and very well equipped, especially the kitchen. We were given a great welcome by the owners who run the adjacent pub which must rate as one of the friendliest in the country! Extremely dog friendly they even provided dog towels! Well located in attractive village with lots of great local walks for all levels, bike hire and trails, water sports in next valley and easy access to rest of the Dales.
