This cottage was just what we wanted from a holiday home. It was clean, comfy and in an ideal location.
We particularly liked the peace and tranquility of the location, the friendly welcome of the owner and high standard of accommodation.
The Generals Cottage was beautiful and in a beautiful setting and the views were amazing. We loved the woods which were at the end of the drive.
Visited August 2015. Approach was accessed down long deep pot-holed drive. Stone steps up to accommodation had no hand-rail - a must when steps wet, and outside-lighting dim so precarious to climb when arriving back at night. Lounge very small for 4 people.TV small with free=view box. Dining table in corner very difficult for 2 people to sit comfortably, let alone 4. 5 bar ceiling pendant in lounge with only 1 of 5 bulbs working, Welcome tray consisted of tea bags and vinegar sachets! Outside space very small - table for 2 under washing line/overlooking large green tank - little view and dark due to being in wooded area. Very remote and quiet. No flowers on table as depicted on web site - indeed no welcome except a reminder that you signed to leave the place in good order and the consequences of not doing so, in a typed sheet on the dining table! OK for 2 people for a long weekend, but the drive approach to the cottage was very, very poor. Wifi signal was good.
The peace and quiet and the wild life
Lovely cosy cottage. Peaceful and quiet, with an abundance of wildlife and stunning views from the property. Lots of walks from the front door, beautiful countryside and local quality pubs.
We seldom leave reviews, but thought it worth leaving this one as we loved our stay. Lovely location in the valley with beautiful views from all the windows. Short drive to a good local pub and the cottage had all the things you need to make the stay relaxing & comfortable. Hosts were helpful and intrusive.
One of the best cottages we have stayed in, we loved the seclusion and the views. The cottage has everything you could possibly need, is warm and comfortable and is ideally placed to visit the area.
We loved the cosy cottage and the lovely views. The cottage is remote and quiet, just how we like a holiday cottage to be. The owners were friendly but not intrusive.
Good property, good weather, good views, best holiday in twenty years.
