We stayed in the arches for two nights and what can I say, what a beautiful place this is, if I could give higher than a 5 I honestly would. The location is perfect and the views are absolutely stunning. We did the daffodil walk whilst here which was lovely and we popped into the church too in church houses which was lovely. The cottage is very homely and perfect for the 5 of us that were staying. Plenty of room for us all, I had the master bedroom which has the 4 poster bed and I loved it. Waking up the views has got to be my favourite part. There wasn’t any toilet roll on arrival but this was sorted straight away. Lovely other touches were wine and biscuits. Thank you for a lovely weekend in every way!!! We would definitely come back for sure.
Had a lovely relaxing week away, cottage is in a very peaceful location but right in the middle of the moors so plenty of places to walk.it was ideal for us and our 2 dogs had a great time.
We had a very relaxing and peaceful week away here. We had three young children who loved being on the farm with lots of animals and out door space. Ideal location to explore the Yorkshire Moors. Fabulous holiday.
What a great place to stay. Beautifully presented with a stunning backdrop. The house is a good size, with plenty of room in the bedrooms and is well equipped. We wanted a peaceful setting and this was perfect. The adjoining property had guests, but we did not hear them at all. I cannot rate The Arches highly enough and hope to be back next year.
In a beautiful setting, woke up to stunning views every morning. An ideal place to escape the rat race and a great base for walking.
Stayed here for 4 nights with our small dog, very relaxing and good for the soul. Great base to explore the region, thoroughly recommend it
Lovely 3 bedroom house next to a farm, within walking distance to a good pub (Feversham Arms). Open fire, fully equipped kitchen and a bottle of wine and teapot and biscuits waiting for us when we arrived! Firewood included. Liked the touch of leaving the torches for us!
A beautiful location, enjoyed sitting on the garden bench in the evening sunshine with a glass in hand drinking in the view. Loved being able to walk from the house, there were fabulous walks to do in every direction.
Fantastic place to stay, really good size, very clean and excellent facilities i.e. washing machine and dish washer. Very remote and quiet - loved it!
It was a lovely cottage in a perfect location. We loved the farm animals and I would definitely go back. I loved everything about the holiday.
The cottage is within a lovely and peaceful setting.
I heve been here many times and I enjoyed all my stays. Probably everything written about this cottage is true.
Absolutely fantastic, stopped here 2 years ago as well, fantastic views, location and value for money. Set on a working farm so sheep in field in front of our lounge window, I've loved watching the sheep and calves playing and running. What a wonderful place. Massive thanks. :-)
A very relaxing holiday in the truly stunning surroundings of Farndale. A wonderfully comfortable cottage in an ideal location for touring the area.
Fabulous place to stay right in the middle of nowhere!! Lovely walks to be had. Lovely house, beautiful bedrooms and the host was great.
There were lots of little 'extras' included in the property - a welcome bottle of wine, tea & biscuits etc. Also pleased at how well appointed the property was.
Our 6th visit and we love this place as much as ever! Cannot fault the cottage and all it provides. If you want peace, beautiful views and a taste of the good life, then this is the place to be. Andy,Julie and Lee are the delightful owners who welcome you into their world and let you become part of their working sheep farm.Always lots to see going on and very willing to explain countrylife to us townies!! Just a short walk away is the local Feversham Arms run by the lovely Rachel and her husband,Richard. Warm, welcoming pub with great home cooked food, good beer and very dog friendly! Also worth a visit is The Lion pub, just above the cottage at Blakey Ridge, especially at Christmas. You will not find a more beautifully decorated pub and cannot fail to feel festive when you explore all the rooms. Great atmosphere, fantastic food and loads of great beers to try! Would recommend the Arches and the larger attached cottage,The Old Carthouse, to anyone who simply wants to get away from it all and enjoy a peaceful, relaxed time with family and friends and dogs - magical!! We will be back!!
The location was amazing. The cottage was amazing too, stylish, cosy, lovely decor and kept immaculately. Fantastic farming family and the views were incredible! Probably would not have explored the Yorkshire Moors if hadn't stayed in such a rural location. Every turn was breathtaking and the local pubs were fantastic. The local Farndale show on bank holiday Monday was a wonderful unexpected pleasure.
We love Farndale and have stayed at The Arches before. The owners are very friendly and helpful but keep a low profile. It's very nice being on a working farm, and the views from the property are wonderful.
The cottage was beautiful with superb views. Our oldest child loved the fact we were so close to the animals. The family who own the cottages were absolutely brilliant they couldn't do enough for us.
The owners family were very friendly and helped us with everything we asked. The cottage was in great condition in a wonderful location.
A lovely place with fabulous views. It was very quiet and peaceful and the pub nearby was great.
We have stayed here three times and it's a great little hideaway from which to explore North Yorkshire.
The views from the cottage were amazing and there were many great walks around. The owners were very friendly and helpful. Local pub was dog friendly.
The property and location is absolutely fantastic. One could not wish for a more beautiful setting. Lovely scenic, peaceful and remote location with friendly farmers and locals alike where ever you go. Wonderful place.
Booking the holiday with Sykes was very easy. The accommodation was great and the views even better than I had imagined. We were surrounded by green fields, sheep and ducks. Very friendly owners and much appreciated welcoming wine, biscuits and milk. I would not hesitate to return to the The Arches at Hall Farm. An excellent first experience with Sykes!
The cottage was as described in the brochure. The owners were very helpful. There are lots of places of interest in Yorkshire.
The location of The Arches was great; close to the coast and great small villages. The local pub, a slow 10 minute walk away, is well worth a few visits. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. The accommodation and views were stunning. Our family will be returning to The Arches and we will be using Sykes to look and book our next holidays.
Clean, comfortable, dog friendly cottage with stunning scenery right outside the door. It is on a working farm, lots to see, peaceful location, good pubs nearby and the local people are friendly and welcoming. There was live music on the Friday at the Band room at Low Mill. The location is good for both Moors and the coast. This was our second visit. The property owners were welcoming, friendly and helpful.
I loved the feel of this property from the outset. I loved that it had sheep, lambs, cows and chickens on the farm where we stayed. The rooms are very spacious and the property overall was very clean and well kept. I would definitely recommend it!
We had a fantastic welcome to the property as a bottle of wine was left for us. The cottage was very comfortable, fantastic views and we had a fantastic time. We will definitely return!
A lovely family welcome you to this very warm cottage. The view from the picture window of this quiet pretty dale would be hard to beat. There is a huge variety of places to go within reach by car and lots of wonderful walks, and a very friendly pub in the tiny village! You will be aware of all the changes in the weather!
Despite the troubles with our car (5 days garage, shame on you r.a.c.) we still managed to make our holiday a success, thanks to the helpfull owner who didn't mind taking us to the store and even arranged us a visit to the country life museum. Thanks andy!!!
Perfect for ramblers. Lovely for beautiful scenery.
Stunning location and very comfortable. Owners were very friendly. Nice to have 'welcome' wine and tea etc.
Spectacular views. Very friendly owners.
The location, the views, the peace and quiet ensured a fantastic week away.
We had the perfect Christmas experience. Deep snow meant it was tricky getting down the valley to The Arches but, once there, it was an ideal location to enjoy the white-out scenery, sledging in front of the cottage and various walks, including a particularly rewarding trek up the valley side to the Lion inn on Blakey Moor. The Arches itself is a fine converted carthouse, well equipped and warm. The farming family who own it are very friendly and helpful.
The beautiful surroundings of this remote cottage, especially in the snow. The friendly assistance of the farmer and his family.
Booking and arrival at the cottage was easy and hassle free. The cottage was clean, tidy and well maintained. The warm, cosy atmosphere inside was very welcoming after a cool windy day out and about. Despite being located a fair way up Farndale, the cottage was easy to get to from the moor top road. Many walks were had along the lane, up onto the moor tops and also in neighbouring Rosedale on the old railway line. The local pubs looked inviting, but we didn't get round to trying them out.
We found this remote cottage up Farndale to be equipped in every way for our needs. Our family consisted of grandparents, parents and two youngsters aged 11 and 8. Out and about we visited York, Scarborough and Whitby and particularly enjoyed the Folk Museum at nearby Hutton-le-Hole. The autumn colours were stunning. Our son-in-law was all over the steep lanes and tracks on his mountain back while the children enjoyed the farm. We even got a log fire going in the evening. Would recommend either of the spacious cottages on this site to anybody.
The location was excellent near to the Feversham Inn and lots of walks for dog owners especially. The cottage was well renovated to a very high standard.
Beautiful setting off the beaten track, property was spacious and warm.
A great place and good people. What more do you need?
Beautiful situation for getting away from it all, was very relaxing.
Very quiet and relaxing, beautiful scenery.
Ideal for an 'away from it all' holiday.
We had a very comfortable stay surrounded by wonderful scenery and plenty of wildlife. It was very peaceful.
The cottage was everything we hoped for and more. Stunning views. Kids had a wonderful time watching the chickens, sheep, ducks and geese. Good pub grub (massive portions) served at pub 10 min walk away. Owners very friendly.
Very peaceful and quiet. Fantastic wildlife, great pubs.
The cottage is located in a peaceful, remote, picturesque dale with lovely views, which made for a very enjoyable holiday - plenty of walking was done in the local area.
What a wonderful place to spend a week's holiday, well equipped, very clean and comfortable. We would sit at the table gazing at the beautiful views across this amazing valley watching the lambs, pheasants, chicken and ducks. So peaceful. Perfect walking area, with scenic drives around the daffodil lined hedgerows.
Lovely cottage, perfect retreat and base for both walking and touring. Whitby and the coast only 30 minutes away.
A much needed restful break away from everyday life, the cottage, garden and the hosts . . perfect, the scenery . . breathtaking, and best of all the peace and quiet . . lovely. Would we return? . .of course! Cannot wait to go again.

The cottage was lovely, had everything we needed and more. The views were stunning and the owners were some of the nicest people we have met - very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed coming back from our busy days out to the peacefulness of our surroundings and watching all the different animals.

The cottage is one of the nicest we have ever stayed in.The views from the cottage were tremendous. The external furnishings were really unusual and added to the external views of the property.
The cottage. The wonderful setting. Friendliness of the people.
The location and cosy home. The friendly unobtrusive owner. It was brilliant - we would love to vist again.
We all had a fabulous week at The Arches. The highlight was seeing the new born lambs from the kitchen window less than 25 metres! We will definitely be going back.

Excellent view, peace & quiet and comfort.
We had a lovely stay. The cottage is in a really lovely rural location and would definitely return.
Fantastic accommodation. The extra touches on arrival were most welcome.
Stuning views from the cottage. We opened the door and were hit with the wow factor, we could not find a fault with this cottage and would recommend it to everyone and anyone.
Hospitally from the owner was excellent, the kettle had been boiled and a plate of biscuits had been left, and there was also a bottle of wine for when we arrived. Beautiful views, peaceful and relaxing. Would stay again.
A beautiful cottage in an idyllic setting. A fantastic holiday had by all - we would certainly recommend to anyone.
Quietness, scenery and friendly owners. Also when we arrived, we found a tray set ready for a cup of tea with biscuits and a bottle of wine on the table to be enjoyed with our dinner. This was a lovely touch and much appreciated.
The cottage provided an ideal place to relax, the views were stunning and the accommodation to a high standard representing excellent value for money. The owner was very welcoming and friendly and having the kettle boiled, tea, milk, biscuits and a bottle of wine ready for us was a very thoughtful gesture.
The hosts were really friendly. The setting was lovely and the views were outstanding.
Really nice property, lovely touches (bottle of wine on arrival) and absolutely stunning views out of the living room window.
The standard of the accommodation. The diversity of the walking options ~ riverside, mud slopes, woodland, lakes and seaside!
It was a very comfortable cottage in beautiful surroundings with easy walking straight from the door.
The property overlooks an unspoilt valley in the North Yorkshire Moors which was fantastic. The local pub is only 5 min walk away which served great beer and was very welcoming. We enjoyed the local woodland, returning to admire the views settling down in front of the open fire.
The location and the service received from the owner. This is the third time we have used this property and will use it again.
The property was immaculate and the log fire was very welcoming when it was cold outside!

First time with Sykes, we would certainly consider booking with you again. Thanks.
The location of the property is excellent. We just wanted somewhere to "get away from it all" and we got just that!
The location of the property was in a remote area of the Moors with good access to surrounding areas, on foot or by car. The views from the cottage were fantastic. The owners gave us a warm welcome and were extremely hospitable. We would definitely return in the future.
Wonderful cottage, ideal location for a walking holiday in the North York Moors. The views from the cottage down into Farndale were exceptional.

Hospitality of the farmer/ family was first class, nothing too much trouble. Fantastic setting and a wide variety of places to visit in every direction.
