Comfortable and homely, the property retains much charm and character, with exposed timbers, sash windows and boarded doors with Suffolk latches. The spacious farmhouse-style kitchen has a lovely warming Rayburn, complete with fireside chairs, with the dining table in the middle - creating a very sociable space to enjoy family meals together. In the sitting room is a lovely warming woodburning stove to toast the toes by, and stunning views over the green, while steep cottage stairs lead up to the two bedrooms, both with fine views over the village beck. To the rear of the cottage, across a shared driveway, is an enclosed lawned garden, providing the perfect opportunity for dining alfresco! From the doorstep, there are a network of public footpaths through beautiful countryside and moorland, whilst the less energetic will delight in strolling around this exceptionally pretty village. Close by are the historic market towns of Kirkbymoorside and Pickering, with weekly market days, quaint tea rooms and traditional village inns. Visit the castle at Pickering, or take a nostalgic trip on the steam railway, that winds its way to Grosmont village near Whitby. With the coastal towns of Whitby and Scarborough within easy reach, Primrose Hill Farmhouse makes an ideal base for a relaxing holiday at any time of year.

Reviews

A very good experience. Settled into the cottage and felt comfortable very quickly. The owners, Nigel and Jo, are very friendly and made us most welcome along with their dogs and horses. The chocolate cake legend continues and it was very tasty. The bathroom had been refitted since we booked and now has a good modern shower cubicle rather than a bath. We enjoyed the farmhouse kitchen when in during the day and warmed ourselves by the multi-fuel stove in the cosy lounge at night. There are ample footpaths into the countryside from the village. Plenty of variety for walking the dog. The Crown offers a good dining experience for an evening meal out. We enjoyed The Forge Cafe for breakfast a few times. We are looking forward to a return visit.

What a great place to stay. The cottage is beautiful and the owners Nigel and Jo are so friendly, helpful and kind. A chocolate cake had been baked for our arrival. So kind and thoughtful. So much to do in this area. Walking, cycling, museums, art gallery's etc. The moors are so stunning at the moment and you can walk from the cottage straight on to the moors.

Primrose Hill Farm is a charming cottage with oodles of character, in a lovely, picturesque, location. The Rayburn kept it warm and cosy, and we had everything we needed. We had a most enjoyable holiday there, and were sad to leave it. Would definitely recommend it, and will probably go back.

This is probably the oldest property we've ever stayed in and it certainly did have a very cottagey feel to it that conversions don't always have. The proximity of a good pub with an excellent menu and local walks meant we didn't need the car as much once there.

The owners of the property where very welcoming and made our two year olds holiday very memorable as they took time to show her their little lamb and horses.

The welcome that the owners gave us was really nice, also their inclusion of our children in feeding the sheep, walking dogs etc. The house and surroundings were lovely and the owners were very helpful with local information and suggestions for days out etc.

We liked waking up to the sounds of the countryside. It was nice being able to do things without having to drive anywhere. The friendliness of the cottage owners, who involved our children in feeding the sheep and horse!
