Lovely place to stay. The owners are lovely and advised us of some great places to visit. This is the best Sykes cottage we have had so far it is beautifully laid out with everything that you could need for your stay. It is a great distance to travel to sterling, Falkirk and we even did Edinburgh on the park and ride. Loch Lomond is also not far for a great day out on the water. Would highly recommend you won’t be disappointed. We will definitely be back.

We've seldom stayed in places which simply exceed expectations - Muirmailing did just that. Absolutely delightful. We visited for a week to catch up with friends and family, including our son who's at the University of Stirling (10 mins drive). The cottage has beautifully finished decor, fantastically comfortable beds, comfy sitting room, well equipped kitchen - everything great. Peaceful and very rural yet within easy striking distance of all amenities and lovely places to eat, and the cities of Glasgow and Edinburgh if you want that sort of experience. Great hill walking area, too.

We stayed at Muirmailing Cottage for 3 nights mid-week in June with our 1 year old boy and would highly recommended it to couples and families. We booked the cottage online based on the photos we had seen and it did not disappoint. From the outside, the cottage is beautiful and in a lovely country setting. There are horses and sheep nearby which our baby just loved! The cottage interior is fresh and modern and finished to a high standard. It had everything we needed. One of the main excursions we had planned was a trip to Blairdrummond Safari Park and it only took us 15 minutes to drive there from the cottage. It is also only 15/20 minutes to drive to Falkirk or Stirling and it took us approx 40 minutes to drive to Edinburgh, so a very central location. The owners were very welcoming and friendly, taking the time to introduce themselves and let us know we could just knock on their door (their house is situated next door to the cottage) if we needed anything. They had also ensured there was a high chair and stair gates for our baby which was very helpful as it saved us bringing our own. We felt 'at home' straight away and were disappointed when our 3 nights came to an end. We'll definitely be back!

Thank you Wendy for your very warm welcome to your lovely cottage. It is modern, very warm and welcoming and very clean. We had everything we needed and more besides. It is very close to Stirling and major roads. But situated very well so it's very quite.Very easy to get out and about from there. Within walking distance of Plean Country Park. There is a shop and pub a mile down the road. Most main shops are in Stirling, but there is an M&S in Stirling services just down the road. It has lovely views over countryside. Even though we stayed over the New Year period the underfloor heating was superb we actually had to turn it down as we got to warm. There was four of us staying in the cottage and have to say having two bathrooms one with a shower in and one with a bath with shower over it was very useful. We had plenty of room. Bedrooms superb and comfortable beds plenty of storage. Large lounge yet very cosy. Lovely kitchen/dining room. Decoration very well thought out. We certainly wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thank you again Wendy.

Superb Cottage, great location and a perfect place to explore surrounding area.

Rated by Mrs Townsend reviewed on 8th May 2016

Of the many cottages in Britain & Ireland we have stayed in over the years, Muirmailing Cottage is easily the best. It is spacious, beautifully furnished and maintained with everything we needed for a comfortable week's stay provided. Wendy was very welcoming and helpful and always available if we needed anything but we never had any problems. We chose this accommodation mainly because of it's location, which is close to the motorway network. This allows easy access to Stirling, Glasgow, The Trossachs, Perth, Fife, St Andrews, the Lothians & Edinburgh. Many major tourist attractions are therefore achievable as a day-trip. Although close to the motorways, the cottage itself is in a quiet rural area with nice views. There is a plant growing business on the site but this caused us no disruption. There are also friendly cats, dogs and horses on the site, which is a bonus for animal lovers.

First impressions of the cottage were super. We had travelled 300 miles through strong winds, heavy rain and sleet, and arrived in a warm and cosy cottage which was immaculately clean well and equipped. It felt as if we were coming home. Though the cottage is in a rural area it is close to the motorway and several places of interest are easily accessible. The owners are most helpful with directions and are on hand should there be any problem. We could recommend this cottage whole heartedly.

Rated by Mr Way reviewed on 20th June 2015

We could not fault our stay here! The standard to which Muirmailing Cottage has been renovated is lovely! We had a warm welcome and a wonderful time there, it has everything you would need for a tranquil holiday, or if you prefer an active holiday then there are plenty of activities in easy reach! Can't recommend this property enough!

Rated by Miss Higgins reviewed on 26th April 2015

My husband and I stayed at Muirmailing with our young children (2.5 years and 1 year old) for a week in March. The cottage is a lovely mix of the old building with lots of modern yet homely features inside. It's set up very well for children - we were able to request a highchair, stair gates and cot which saved us packing those bulky extras! It is also stocked with everything you could need - all kitchen and bathroom products - with a system that you replace what you finish. This works brilliantly. Wendy and Graham are very welcoming and gave us lots of tips on places to visit, where to park and which roads to take (thank you!). And we were delighted to see the ponies and dogs every day. It feels like you are part of the working nursery. Muirmailing is in a great location, very peaceful but with good links to towns and cities. We enjoyed trips to Stirling, Bridge of Allan, Loch Lomond and Edinburgh, all easily accessible. We could not fault it at all, it was the perfect break!

Rated by VickiC673 reviewed on 28th March 2015

My sister and I had a relaxing break based in this very comfortable cottage. It is based in a very convenient situation close enough to towns and attractions but in a pleasant and quiet rural setting. The accommodation is lovely - beautiful bathrooms, quality furnishings etc. We were made to feel very welcome by the owners.

Rated by Mrs Rimell reviewed on 19th March 2015

The location and cottage itself was breath taking. The owner was extremely friendly and accommodating. There was nothing more we could have wanted.

Rated by Miss Broad reviewed on 12th November 2014

The cottage was beautiful. The owner was very welcoming and had clearly taken a great deal of trouble over the refurbishment of the property. We absolutely loved it and would have no hesitation in recommending it to friends and family. The location was ideal for us, close to motorway links but with all the peace and quiet that would be expected from a country cottage.

Rated by Mr Sharp reviewed on 11th November 2014

Muirmailing Cottage is a magnificent Cottage. One could fault nothing and the owner was a pleasure to deal with and most obliging.

Rated by Mr Hepper reviewed on 6th November 2014

Our hosts were extremely helpful and kind when we had family to visit us and provided baby chair as well. The cottage was well situated for travelling about and is set in fantastic countryside,.

Rated by Mrs Collimore reviewed on 12th October 2014

The cottage, beyond its quaint stone exterior, was like new - immaculate and so comfortable. The rural setting is very peaceful and we enjoyed the gardens and pets. The Muirmailing cottages were perfectly located, so we could set out each day in a different direction and discover Scotland. We could not have been more pleased!

Rated by Mrs Scott reviewed on 9th October 2014

We only stayed here for a couple of days while visiting friends up for the Ryder cup so didn't really get a flavour of the area. But it is only 15 minutes from Stirling, and we passed by the Kelpies and Falkirk wheel on the way so there are certainly attractions in the area. The cottage itself was just lovely. Very clean as might be expected from something only just opened this year. It was also very well equipped and furnished. The location was very quiet for our visit with lovely views across the country side. It is however in the grounds of the owners nursery business so might get busier in the spring. That said I don't think a few visiting gardeners is too much to cope with and our 20month old daughter loved wandering amongst the plants almost as much as she loved visiting Mimi and Penny the resident horses. In all a really relaxing stay in a lovely part of the country.

Scotland is a very beautiful and interesting country. Our kids loved the many beautiful playgrounds. The cottage was beautifully furnished and decorated. The owners are nice and helpful people.

Rated by Mrs Treppe reviewed on 31st August 2014

That was our first stay in Scotland and we really enjoyed it. In particular because the cottage was very very pleasant. The cottage was thoroughly and recently entirely renovated. Everything is well done and thought out. The owners are very kind. There are a lot of things to do around no more than one hour driving. We recommend it!

Just about everything you want in a letting is present. You are in the middle of nowhere with only the birds "disturbing" of the silence.

Rated by Mr Van Wijk reviewed on 3rd August 2014

The location was perfect - it felt to be in the middle of nowhere but the Cottage was 15 minutes from Stirling and less than an hour from both Glasgow and Edinburgh. The Cottage itself was beautiful and the the owners were helpful and lovely.

Rated by Mr Aylin reviewed on 3rd August 2014

The Cottage was far better than expected, this was easily the best cottage we have stayed in and the owner was always keen to help with anything we needed. Thankyou for a great holiday.
