Location Details

The Irish-speaking district of Gweedore or 'Gaoth Dobhair' consists of the villages Bunbeg, Derrybeg, Dunlewey, Crolly and Brinlack. Located below Mount Errigal, Donegal's tallest mountain, Gweedore is framed by mountainous scenery on one side, while on the other is the Atlantic Ocean with a coastline made up of sandy beaches and rugged cliffs. Close by, Ards Forest Park and Glenveagh National Park, Ireland's largest National Park, both provide great days out, and with a golf course and river, lake and sea fishing, there is something for everybody in the district of Gweedore.

The West of Ireland conjures up many images; thatched, whitewashed cottages, a flock of sheep on a narrow road, an emerald green field with a stone wall, or the Atlantic waves crashing into towering cliffs and rocky shores.

Stayed in Derrybeg Apartments with my daughter, dad and brother at the end of May. Excellent accommodation, everything you could need or want. Superb location, very handy to Molloy's and Gallagher's supermarket, both within walking distance. Beaches are amazing, I know the area very well, but well located for travellers. Would definitely recommend - first class.

Rated by Mrs Cook reviewed on 31st May 2015

This apartment was airy and spacious, with everything you needed to make it a home from home. The owners were very obliging and nothing was too much trouble, explaining the best places to visit nearby etc. The location was perfect for exploring nearby places. A must is the beach with beautiful scenery that stretched for miles. Will definitely recommend and hopefully will be going back for another visit.

A beautiful apartment in a lovely part of the country.

Rated by Mr McCafferty reviewed on 6th April 2015

We (two adults and a six month old) stayed here for a week in October. The welcome was fantastic, as was the apartment. It's also well-located for travelling around Donegal. Modern, well equipped, well decorated, well furnished, clean, comfortable - what's not to like? Best not mention the Donegal October weather!

Rated by WarrenD402 reviewed on 5th December 2014

This property was five star and the location was excellent, ticked all the boxes.

Rated by Mr Short reviewed on 30th November 2014

Peaceful and quiet with the smell of turf from the beautiful hills of Donegal and the lakes, it was heaven. There was nil traffic and lovely friendly people.

Rated by Mr Abbott reviewed on 23rd November 2014

Absolutely superb accommodation cannot fault the comfort, décor or the personal touches made by our hosts which together made our stay perfect. The apartment was beautiful and the location so peaceful, exactly what we were looking and hoping for for our short stay.

Rated by Mr Burt reviewed on 6th November 2014

Lovely apartment, great welcome - nothing negative to say.

Rated by Mr Davison reviewed on 26th October 2014

The owners were exceptionally friendly and we can not convey how welcome they made us feel. The flat had everything we needed and was well kitted out even to the extent that the owner ensured I had the Wifi. I wish the owners every success and hope to be over again. I have certainly highlighted this to my friends on your website. The position of the property is great for touring the area with beautiful beaches not far. We recommend for a bracing walk you take in the beaches and enjoy the scenery.

Rated by Mr Burns reviewed on 17th August 2014

Apartment is wonderful, well equiped and comfortable. Just a pity the coastline is spoiled...yes stunning, but overun with empty properties, boom and definitely bust.

What a beautiful apartment. There were lovely comfy beds and lots of towels. Everything you could possibly want is supplied.

Rated by Mr Furness reviewed on 30th June 2014

This apartment is beautiful, fitted out to a very high standard with everything we needed and more. The owners were very friendly and had left a little welcome package of bread, milk, biscuits etc. Things like washing up liquid, salt, pepper etc were all provided as were bed linen, towels, kitchen utensils and cutlery. The furniture is comfortable, modern and high quality, and the place has been kept spotless. There was loads of information on things to do in the local area. We would recommend Glenveagh National Park and castle, the local beaches and a drive over to Giant's Causeway. Banks, shops, restaurants and a gorgeous sandy beach are all within walking distance. The only thing that can't be planned for is the weather, we had torrential rain but also warm Sunshine. The apartment was perfect for a couple, and would also be brilliant for a small group of friends or family. Highly recommended by us!
