One of the town's most famous residents was Stan Laurel and Ulverston is now home to the only Laurel and Hardy museum in the world. Other facilities and points of interest include a wide range of shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs, a cinema and a leisure centre. Ulverston has managed to maintain an authentic feel and community spirit, despite its popularity as a tourist destination. The renowned Lake District National Park is within easy driving distance and the Furness Coast boasts sandy beaches and good birdwatching.
Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination.
