The Hook Peninsula attracts visitors to its beaches and activities including walking, golf and horse riding. Head up to New Ross and visit the JFK Arboretum or the Dunbrody Famine Ship, or travel over to Waterford in the west or Wexford in the east to take in all they have to offer.
Known as the "Sunny South East", the counties of Wicklow, Wexford, Waterford, and Tipperary offer everything you could need for a dream holiday in Ireland. Miles of sandy beach and scenic drives taking in mountains and coast are on your doorstep.
What a fantastic property set next to a tiny working harbour. The house is beautifully maintained and has a lounge on the first view which has an incredible view out to sea. We have never seen a vista like it. The owner was an extremely helpful lady arriving with home made cakes for us, we could not have felt more welcome. The scenery around the area is amazing, the small ferry taking you across to Waterford is interesting as well. Highly recommend this lovely holiday home
We enjoyed staying next to the coast; the location was beautiful, with the walks along the shore and the lighthouse. In Ireland we enjoyed the scenery, nature and the history. Also, the friendliness and helpfulness of the Irish people was striking!
The owners made us very welcome, as did all the local people we met. This is an outstanding location and the cottage was very clean and well furnished. There was nothing we would change or indeed suggest any improvements. We look forward to a return visit very soon. A holiday to remember!
Close to the sea, ideal for a fishing holiday which was the reason we chose this cottage and we plan to book the same place next year.
Our contact at the house was brilliant, she could not have been more helpful. She went to some lengths to make the stay as good as it could be, a great host who went out of her way. The house is in a great and, for us, fascinating location with good walks and interesting things around. It is a light, airy, clean and pleasant house to stay in.
Our contact at the house, Mary, was brilliant. She could not have been more helpful. She went to some lengths to make the stay as good as it could be. A great host who went out of her way - very typical of our Irish experiences in general but Mary took it to another level of thoughtfulness and generosity. The brilliant reputation the Irish have as wonderful hosts is well merited. The house is in a great and, for us, fascinating location with good walks and interesting things around. It is a light and airy, clean and pleasant house to stay in. We had plenty of room and were comfortable the whole time. I enjoyed Slade - found the working harbour and the characters around the hamlet interesting. The Hook area in general was entertaining, loved driving about the area - lots to do for us. The brilliant weather helped a lot. Some very good food at the Templars Inn not far away, probably the best pub food we ate in Ireland. The kitchen could have done with a sharp knife and a few more cooking essentials. We purchased a knife and left it there but there should be a decent chefs knife and a sharpener. We like to cook a lot and found it frustrating. I believe there will be wifi soon - missed not having it. Overall, I would recommend this cottage enthusiastically.
The cottage had sweeping views of the harbour and coast from the upstairs rooms and an inviting open fireplace in the kitchen. We especially appreciated the lovely tea that had been prepared for our arrival. We felt very welcome!
