Just got back from a week away in this beautiful little cottage. Perfect quiet location to get away from it all. Cottage was clean and functional, living room seating a little uncomfortable for enjoying a night in though, but lovely and cosy otherwise. Other than taking your own towels the cottage is very well equipped for everything you need. Great location to go for days out and great walks with the dog. However, do be careful with the online penselwood walks, lacking in detail which you only discover once you're out there, take your phone for GPS. Lovely garden area across the lane for enjoying your morning cup of tea or an evening tipple. Farm fresh eggs, a small jug of milk and a vase of garden flowers were a lovely welcome.
Having a holiday on a working farm is excellent for small children, and our son really enjoyed being introduced to the animals by the friendly owners of the property. The Old Bull Stall is also perfectly situated for visiting various sites of interest in the local area.
A beautiful cottage in a lovely location. It was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. It is close to Wincanton which has large supermarkets. There are lovely walks in the local area and it is close to lots of great attractions. We were really sad to leave.
Should be a higher star grade, it was amazing. It is such a beautiful place to be, it's a life I dream of.
Very peaceful location. Cute and cosy little cottage with adequate supplies (it is made clear you need to bring your own towels). Small and uncomfortable sofa and chairs with wooden railings hard to relax on. Wifi advertised but signal literally non-existent and no mobile phone signal either so awkward if you do need to keep in touch. Ideal for a couple of walkers looking to get away from it all. Not so good for dog owners due to 'garden' being overgrown field across muddy lane so a mission to let dog out every time.
The Old Bull Stall is a lovely place for a relaxing holiday, but is also a good base for visiting places in Somerset and surrounding counties. It is ideally located for walking and the cottage is actually part of the farm. The owners are very friendly and helpful, but not intrusive, and the farm eggs are delicious!
The cottage was in a lovely peaceful setting. The owners were very accommodating and our two children loved seeing the animals on the farm especially bottle feeding the calf. It was a fantastic location for sightseeing but there was also the added bonus of having so many places to walk surrounding the farm.
We received a warm welcome from the owners. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable. The location was perfect for us: quiet, pretty and had plenty of excellent walks for us and our dog. To say it has a garden is misrepresentation (see the given title above). However we didn't need one and it was perfect for our needs. The only drawbacks were that the gas wood burner was broken (awaiting a part) but we were still warm enough from heaters and the tv remote had been lost so there was some manual adjustments to be made (good exercise though!)
The hosts were great. Loved being on a farm. Great rural atmosphere and central to Bath and Stonehenge.
The cottage is located on a working farm in what initially feels like a remote hamlet of Pen Selwood but infact is close to all Major attractions: Glastonbury, Stonehenge, Bath, Wells, Castle Cary, Cheddar Gorge ect ect. The cottage is very cosy with all necessary amenities and the owners were friendly and in obtrusive. My wife is a devout animal lover and she took great pleasure in petting the horses, donkey, cats, farm dog Alfie and seeing the sheep, ducks and geese. A very relaxing and pleasurable stay - will certainly come again.
A lovely welcome tray (+eggs!) and flowers. Next door to owners, very friendly and who were exceedingly helpful to us as we suffered a family bereavement when we were there. The cottage was clean and very comfortable, as were the beds. Beautiful and very quiet area, lovely retreat, lots of country walks from the cottage. Near small towns and a303 if you wanted to go further afield. Best thing was beauty of countryside and cottage setting. least liked was low mobile phone signal!
Great location, quiet but not to far from anywhere.. we have already booked again for 2014.
Loved the very nice owners. They tried to involve the children and us into the living on a farm by talking and explaining how it's works and to join them in their world. We've loved it. Further, we enjoyed the beautiful surroundings, the animals and the peaceful environment.
The position, both in the countryside and on the farmyard was great. The owners went out of their way in terms of friendliness. The kitchen worked, the water was hot, and wi-fi was useful.
The owners were fantastic. They made us feel very welcome and our children loved the fact that they were made to feel involved at Pear Ash Farm - two budding young farmers as a result!
A very well appointed cottage in a lovely rural location. All facilities included, such as WiFi access and a real flame fire. The owners were very friendly, but not intrusive. Well located just a short drive from easy transport links to Bath, Glastonbury and Wells.
The peace and quiet, lovely farmyard setting, beautiful countryside, quiet roads and interesting places to visit. The cottage accommodation was first class. Clean, comfortable, well equipped and furnished. Plus, it was warm on cool nights as it had heating.
Lovely cottage very comfortable. The owners were very helpful but not intrussive.Would recommend.
Lovely, remote, rural location. The owners were very friendly and approachable, but not at all intrusive. It was a really genuine working farm. Lots of animals around the farmyard that would appeal to children. It was a lovely comfortable cottage well appointed.
Very happy with the accommodation and the local walks we had with the dog. Owners were very friendly. Price was affordable and suitable for the accommodation. Would stay there again.
We were made to feel so welcome by the farm owners and were invited to participate with various farming activities. Our daughter (and us!) loved collecting eggs, riding with Shire horses and herding the sheep and cows. A very reasonable price too!
An excellent cottage in a great location. There is plenty to do and visit near to the property. It is a quiet, safe and tranquil area.
The owners were very, very friendly. There are many different animals at the farm. It is very quiet and it's a really nice cosy cottage. It was possible to use the owners garden.
We had a great family holiday at The Old Bull Stall and we were made to feel very welcome. We were looked after and the owners let our little two year old collect the eggs and gave her a tour of the farm. This is a great cottage and its well worth booking!
The owners were a very friendly couple. Fresh farm eggs, milk and flapjacks on arrival and a vase of flowers on the table. A lovely holiday.
An excellent, peaceful location, well placed for walking and interesting days out.
Lovely rural location. Woodland fields and country lanes surround this property. The Mildmay Arms in Queens Camel for good food and drink, staff helpful and friendly (accepts pets in pub also). Delighted with this property. Enjoyed our time there, very restful holiday. Beautiful location.
Just returned from our visit to Old Bull Stall in Somerset. We all had a great time. The family were very kind and helpful. Lovely part of the country. Thank you all very much.
Would happily go back again! The property was great and in a great location. The owners were friendly and sell the best free range eggs we have ever tasted!
The accommodation was excellent and the owners very welcoming. A wonderful week away.
Old fashioned working farm and you were able to walk around the fields and see the animals. Good base for visiting attractions in both Somerset and Dorset. Owners very friendly and welcomed you.
Location was excellent and the owners were very accommodating and helpful. The tea tray with flapjacks on arrival was a lovely touch.
Very comfortable cottage and the owners very helpful. The surrounding area was central to our needs and to a nice relaxing holiday.
The area was lovely and easily accessible for many attractions. The farm owners were very friendly and made us feel really at home. It was lovely and peaceful.
What a delightful converted Bull stall we stayed in. Set in the tiny village of Penselwood in a peaceful rural location with next to no traffic and plenty of country walks right outside the front door. The proprietors were very welcoming and kind. They even presented us with half a dozen freshly laid eggs as a welcome gift. The property was clean with all amenities supplied. No complaints whatsoever with the cottage. Being a working farm we were often encouraged to help out and we were allowed the run of the farm. Our daughter particularly enjoyed fussing over all the animals. Stacking bales of hay last thing in the day was pretty exhausting but enjoyable at the same time. And as for herding the sheep. They tend to have a mind of their own. I'm trying very hard to think of what we didn't like about the Bull Stall. Cannot think of one thing :)
The cottage is pretty much in the middle of the farmyard. The children absolutely loved seeing all the animals on the farm. The owners were particularly helpful and friendly.
The kids particularly liked being on a Farm & the owners were very friendly & helpful.
We had a wonderful holiday with the owners on their glorious farm. Not only was it the quietest and at night time the darkest location we have ever stayed at, but we also had the activities of the farm animals as an interest. We used this as a base to visit other sites in Southern England which was ideal with the good major road connections close to the farm, as well as reasonable access to shops to get our supplies. We loved the stay and will always have fond memories of this visit. Mike,Joan and Christopher Marsh
A lovely and quiet cottage. The owners very friendly and welcoming.
Lovely location with great friendly owners. Being allowed access to all the farm and animals. Couldn't have asked for a better holiday. FABULOUS!
A paradise on a farm, led by wonderful hosts. We all (including 2 boys) loved it and hope to come back!
This little cottage is a dream come true if you're looking for a place to relax and unwind! Lovely owners, very friendly. We will definitely stay there again if we're down that way!
The owners are wonderful and could not have been more helpful. The children loved staying on a real farm and seeing all the animals. The eggs from the owners' own hens are the best I have ever tasted.
The friendliness of the owners who made us feel extremely welcome and left tea and flapjacks ready for us in the cottage when we arrived. The cottage was quiet, secluded and peaceful.
Very nice cottage and people.
Very friendly owners, great help and lovely eggs. Perfect holiday to take.
Excellent location for Longleat and Stonehenge.
The location was ideal, so many things to do and see. Couldn't get it all in in a week. Also the cottage was in a wonderful and quiet area. Thoroughly enjoyed the fare. Recommend The Old Bull Stall anytime to anyone.
Owners very friendly and helpful. Facilities perfectly adequate for a family of four.
We loved the cottage and the area.
The Owners were lovely and put themselves out to include the children.
A great time had by all, especially the children - loved "helping out" with the animals on the farm!
All the animals on the farm are good for children.
Rustic, very friendly with lovely walks.
We had a great time. Very nice people.
Had no problems at all. Thank you to the owners and girls. The owners were very hospitable, friendly and made us feel our holiday enjoyment was important to them. They were also great with our children and involved them with activities around the farm. Must be recommended.
Lovely owners.
Welcoming owners, peace and quiet.
Relaxing.
The owners were very friendly and helpful. A very good place to stay with children of all ages.
It wasn't just the property that made our holiday, it was the friendliness and warmth shown to all five of us by the owners. It was a perfect holiday, which could only be improved in one way, by spending another week there.
