Reviews

5 Howe End is right in the middle of the delightful small town of Kirkbymoorside with its supermarkets, shops, pubs etc..This is an excellent base for exploring the Moors and also sampling fantastic village pubs as we did in Gillamor and Appleton-le-Moors. The three bedroom mid terrace property is on three floors with two bathrooms. The kitchen is very well equipped with washing machine, dishwasher, microwave and fridge freezer. There is a drier in the upper bathroom. The owner was extremely accommodating and provided details of local walks, restaurants, pubs and recommended food shops together with local places of interest. There is a small, very private, courtyard garden to the rear with table and chairs and barbecue .

It's the second year my family have visited, along with our four legged friend, and it really is our home away from home! Everything about this cottage is wonderful; location is great with so many great little shops, and the market, in Kirbymooreside, the lovely patio area that creates a secluded sun spot on the best days, the amenities - washing machine, dishwasher, tumbledryer, bath and shower and lots of fantastic information on the local area. This time I also asked the owner to arrange a card to be placed in the house upon our arrival for my family. She was so accommodating and the card was perfect, really appreciated as was a cheeky ask and it was so lovely as was made to feel like it was no hassle at all. Can't wait to be back!

This cottage has everything we needed for a great week's stay. It was comfortable and homely and close to the amenities of the North York Moors and the East coast. Great for walking holidays.

What a wonderful place! We are 5 adults and 1 dog that travel every year to Yorkshire and we have found the perfect family cottage! The enclosed courtyard is fantastic for our four legged friend and lent itself beautifully to a BBQ. The cottage itself is homely with all the facilities you require. Location is great, an hour from key places such as Whitby and Goathland. Would definitely recommend the Wednesday morning market and the local art gallery! Can’t wait to be back next year!!

We had a great week in this cottage. Beautifully kept and all the touches you need for a home away from home. It is ideally located for visiting the coast and the cities. Would recommend any family to stay here and if back in the region would definitely come back.

THE COTTAGE WAS VERY CLEAN,COMFORTABLE AND HAD EVERYTHING WE NEEDED TO HAVE A RELAXING BREAK. THE COTTAGE HAD A VERY GOOD INFORMATION PACK ABOUT THE LOCAL AREA AND RECOMMENDATIONS FOR GOOD PLACES TO EAT,VISIT ETC. THE COTTAGE WAS WITHIN WALKING DISTANCE TO ALL THE LOCAL SHOPS,CAFE'S AND PUBS IN KIRKBYMOORSIDE AND HAD A LOVELY PLAY PARK AT THE END OF THE ROAD. THERE WERE PLENTY OF WALKS CLOSE BY OR JUST A SHORT DRIVE AWAY.

We loved the 3 floors so both sets of adults had their own space. We loved the location - village life, a lovely park and all our favourite places on the doorstep. Had a wonderful family time. Loved the sheltered garden area too, and the rustic charm of the décor.

A great property in a lovely village. It was particularly good for taking a dog and family on holiday. There was lots to do in the surrounding area and a lovely enclosed and private garden to relax in.

Rated by Mr Davidson reviewed on 13th July 2015

This cottage is situated in a quiet side road just off the (quiet) main street so you will not be disturbed and the rear garden is totally private and secure. The property has just about everything you could need and is in very good condition. We found the owners to be particularly helpful, friendly and professional. The village has a brilliant local butcher - Wainds and convenience stores as well as pubs. As a base to explore the North Yorkshire Moors it is superb and there is so much to see that we needed more time. The locals are very friendly and dogs are abundant both as residents and visitors. No hesitation in recommending this one.

The owners had maintained a lot of the original features in the cottage which gave it a homely, comfortable feel, though it had all the modern appliances. The town of Kirkbymoorside is so friendly which was great for me as I had quite a few days there on my own.

Our daughter and family enjoyed their stay in this cottage. The location, close to the centre of Kirkbymoorside, was very convenient and the playing field was just around the corner. The cottage was well equipped and comfortable.

Howe End is situated in the lovely village of Kirkbymoorside. The village is walking distance to local shops and a great play park for the kids. The cottage itself is of a high standard. Everything you could need and more was available and as we went over the festive season we were delighted to find not only biscuits, milk, tea, coffee, spices and sugar on our arrival but also beautiful decorations. The cottage has a very cosy, homely feel and it is obvious that the owners love the place. The owners in fact were very friendly and helpful prior to the holiday giving us all the detail we could wish for about the cottage and surrounding attractions. The cottage has games, toys, books, dvds and films but is in such a lovely area you'll never be in. As a family we had great days out visiting York, Whitby and The Deep in Hull. We also brought along our dog as the cottage has a very safe, pretty, back yard. On the odd occasion we left the dog at the cottage we could leave the back door open and contain him in the kitchen/garden area which was very useful. The cottage overall is fantastically equipped, immaculately clean, cosy, comfortable and a pleasure to stay in. Very reasonably priced and as a family we would love to go back.

The cottage was beautiful. More than usual kitchen equipment and a supply of spices, coffee, tea and such. A lovely homely feel and plenty of information about local places to visit.

Well appointed cottage with all the comforts of home. In the centre of a traditional market town but also in a peaceful spot. A thousand and one places to visit within a half hours drive. Or you can leave the car and be off on country walks within 5 minutes. Quintessential England. Wish I was back there now.

Great holiday, well fitted out with plenty of amenities on your doorstep, pet friendly but wouldn't consider if you aren't spritely as there are three storeys of rather steep steps , highly recommend the top floor bath with a view through the dormer window, would definitely stay again.

Kirkbymoorside is a lovely town to visit. There are excellent facilities on the doorstep and the cottage is well placed to explore the Yorkshire Moors and all its many attractions. Howe End Cottage is deceptively large, particularly upstairs. It is lovely and clean and is very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. This is the second time we have been and we had a great time, no doubt we will be back. Thanks
