Location Details

Beadnell is a pretty harbour village which is situated in a peaceful location beside Beadnell Bay - a stunning stretch of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. Beadnell was once an important fishing village and a 'smugglers' place of safety. It is still a fishing village, and now visitors also flock to Beadnell for its picturesque harbour and soft sandy beaches. Beadnell offers local conveniences including a shop and two pubs which serve food. A supermarket and restaurants are on offer at Seahouses a little over a mile away, and from this popular seaside town you can also hop aboard a boat trip from the harbour to the spectacular Farne Islands for some wonderful bird watching opportunities. Bamburgh is close by, whilst the market town of Alnwick with its castle and gardens are also within easy reach of Beadnell.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Reviews

Cottage was easy to find and exactly as shown on ‘google earth’. If using the Arriva bus service - can take the X15 (from Alnwick) or X18 (coastal zone) and get off at The Haven in Beadnell. The cottage is then about a 10 to 15 mins walk along the harbour road. Next to Fraggle Rock - art decor house. Good facilities - didn’t need for anything in the kitchen (instructions to work the hob and oven were in the cottage folder). Warm shower (heated towel rail - switch in the bedroom by the bathroom door). Excellent view of the Farne Islands and Longstone Lighthouse. Can’t fault it at all, but it was chilly and a log burner would have been the icing on the cake. Good location if you want to leave the car at home - on excellent bus routes, and generally flat walking. Cottage well stocked. Good WiFi.

This was our 5th visit to Northumberland in 18 months and White Rock Cottage is most definitely the best property we've stayed in yet. As soon as we arrived it just felt like real a home from home; warm, comfortable and what a fantastic view through those french windows!!! Cottage is well appointed with all mod cons and parking is great, just outside the front door. Great spot for plenty of walks...Beadnell to High/Low Newton or catch the bus to Craster and walk to Dunstanburgh Castle then onto Embleton. Try the 'Greys Inn' (Embleton) for a nice pint and good food. All in all, a great little bolthole where you can lose yourself in the fantastic Northumberland coast. Well worth a return visit for us.

We have always fancied a week at White Rock ever since we saw it built, and yes at last we have managed it, the weather was perfect all week, though very breezy on the Weds. This little cottage is very bijou, and ideal for two people, you have sea views from both the side windows in the lounge, and patio doors at the rear. When it got dark it was magic to just laze on the settee and watch the Farne Islands lighthouses winking away, and magical sky where you could see thousands of stars due to very little light pollution. The cottage was immaculately clean, a brand new bed had been delivered the day we arrived, and was sooo comfy. Furnishings were of very good quality, and underfloor heating with extra heaters provided if needed, but we certainly did not. The owner called to see if everything was alright, living in the village, and said if any problems to ring him, there were not. We loved our stay, and could not fault this beautiful cottage in any way, and do hope to return in the future.

It was absolutely as described, the attention to detail & cleanliness was excellent. The sea view was lovely & you can hear the sea almost all of the time as it was so quiet. It was a short walk to the harbour & beach without needing to move the car.

From the minute we stepped into this wonderfully formed little cottage it was love at first sight!! Everything was spotlessly clean with high quality furniture and fittings throughout. It is a perfect cottage for two, ideally situated for fantastic walks along the coastline or just relaxing on the sunny patio with a glass of wine or two!! Would recommend to family and friends and we cannot wait to return.
