The cottage was really good but the cottage is off the beaten track and not ideal for us as it’s probably ideal for walkers
We stayed in The Goat Shed in mid September. It is a beautiful place to stay. We holidayed with our dog so it was very useful to have a secure dog exercise field on site. The Goat Shed has a secure pebbled garden area which has beautiful plants and flowers and is very private next to a field and you can park your car right outside the property which is helpful. From parts of the site you can see the sea and views down to Whitby and the Abbey. The Goat Shed is very well furnished and has everything you need for a very pleasant stay. Would highly recommend. Only 10 mins drive to Whitby and 5 mins drive down the country lanes to Robin Hoods Bay. A local pub in Fylingdale is only 30 minute walk down the hill or a couple of mins drive or you can get a taxi back with Bay Cars for £6.
Wow! This place is the perfect base for walks straight from the door step. Peaceful, clean and bright, well equipped and comfortable, warm and plenty of hot water. We were really surprised at the size of the place, with ample room outside including parking. Star gazing in bed...Just perfect! We loved it, our dog loved it! Only grumble....We didn't stay long enough - Will definitely be returning! Thank you for a lovely stay!
We stayed at the Goatshed for 3 blissful nights . It’s a little off the beaten track but within easy reach of Robin Hood’s Bay and Whitby . Walkable distance to Robin Hood’s Bay ( unless like me you are waiting for a new knee ). The Goatshed is spotless, super comfy and cosy with everything you could need, even a washing machine , iron and ironing board . The fenced off area out side of the cottage was brilliant for our Basset Hound , who follows his nose and tries to escape at every opportunity ! The field next door has alpacas which were really sweet ! During our stay , we visited the Fylingdale Inn in Fylingthorpe , just over a mile away, they do tasty soup and sandwiches from 2pm onwards and are dog friendly . I can not recommend the Goatshed enough , it was a lovely stay
Great location for Whitby and Scarborough.Pet friendly ,great hosts, beautiful scenery and peaceful allthough you are close to working farm. This holiday shed is very well, equipped for self catering, has plenty of space and an enclosed garden with table and chairs to relax in the sunshine.Plenty of places to to visit whether walking or driving. This has been our third visit there and will be returning next year
A lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the world. The cottage was dog friendly as was the site, with a dog walking paddock. We will definitely go back again!
The location was idyllic. There were some wonderful walks and lots to do in the locality. Will definitely be going back.
The location was idyllic. There were some wonderful walks and lots to do in the locality. We will definitely be going back.
The Goat Shed was excellent and very peaceful. The owners were very friendly and helpful. We will go again.
This is a cosy barn conversion with great views over Whitby. There is a nice private garden. The cottage is in a brilliant location.
The Goat shed is full of character & after some very chilly days out it was lovely to get back to a lovely warm cosy cottage at the end of each day. The cottage was in a perfect position to get to all the places we wanted to visit.
THe goat shed was lovely and very cosy,There are lovely views of whitby and the Abbey .I loved the alpacas in the field. It was so peaceful and It help us relax after a very eventful few months. The hosts were very friendly and helpful. It was very easy to follow the directions to the cottage and to pick up the keys to the cottage.would go back there again.
We stayed here for 3 nights at Easter. It was just what we needed calm and relaxing but with lots to do in the area. The cottage was lovely and we slept so well in the bedroom. The pub is at the bottom of the hill which means it is all up hill on the way back but the meals in the pub were worth it. Would definitely go back.
"The property was close to all the villages and towns that we wanted to visit. The owners were on hand if required and were very approachable; not that we needed them much. Very relaxing."
A very nice place to stay - clean and spacious accommodation that is also quiet and relaxed. The bedroom and bathroom are excellent. We have stayed twice and would return.
We had a lovely time. Very nice accommodation in a great position. The owners were very nice and friendly. We would definitely go again and recommend it to others.
I have never 'holi-dayed' in England before, however after getting a dog we decided to visit the Yorkshire Coast. We mainly chose this place due to the walks and being dog friendly. This converted goat shed was stunning. Going in October had the weather to deal with, however our shed kept us warm and dry. We really enjoyed our stay here, it was beautiful and relaxing with so many scenic walks. The owners were accommodating and fixed our one tiny problem (the battery in the fire alarm was bleeping!!) very quickly. Loved it here and enjoyed Robins Hood Bay too. Will be back next year :)
Fantastic place top stay, it was homely warm, comfortable and very clean, no problems at all. The owners were very friendly and accommodating.
Very private cottage with excellent facilities for dog owners. Very well presented and owners were friendly and helpful.
We loved staying at The Goat Shed, it was ideally place to access the East Coast of Yorkshire which is stunning any time of year.
An excellent location, friendly owners and a beautiful cottage.
Perfect setting, near to lots of lovely places to visit, perfect quiet retreat for a relaxing holiday, overall a very nice cottage to stay in. we will definitely be returning!
Beautiful, well equipped cottage, location was stunning with lovely views of countryside & seascape . Owner made us feel very welcome on arrival.
A very clean and roomy place to stay, the bedroom and bathroom were outstanding. The location was superb, very quiet yet just a few miles from Robin Hood's Bay and nearby Whitby.
A lovely and cosy cottage in a wonderful, rural location. Owners very friendly and approachable.
Superb location. It felt like you were miles away from anyone and everyone but yet you're only a few miles from Whitby and a hilly walk from Robin Hood's Bay. The accomodation itself was superb for us and a lovely place to relax and unwind after exploring the Moors. I hope to get back one day.
We stayed for a week in august, at The Goatshed, and really enjoyed our holiday, as did our Portuguese Water Dog artchie. The accommodation was ideal for anyone with a dog, with all you could possibly need. A lovely walk into Robin Hood's Bay, but beware it's uphill on the way back. We would definitely stay here again, on our next visit to the Whitby area. The owners are very approachable, and live on the farm adjacent.
Very nice property, very close to all towns, and in a lovely setting. It was ideal for our dogs, and the owners were very friendly.
I particularly liked the area of the cottage and the quietness when in at night. It is in a good location for visiting the coast in Whitby and also Sandsend. Also not too far to visit the moors.
Very comfortable and warm. The photos on your website do not do the cottage justice.
The property was exactly as described. It was very tastefully decorated, comfortable and very warm. The small yard was enclosed and safe for the dog.
We liked how cosy and relaxing the cottage was. We like the area anyway and go to Whitby often; we will return to cottage, it was lovely.
We had a fantastic time. The Goat Shed was absolutely lovely, very comfy and clean and was in a beautiful location with lovely views. It was so peaceful. The owners were very friendly and helpful, we felt very welcome.
Location for Whitby and surrounding area was excellent.
Wonderful cottage, everything on hand inside, only downside, lack of view from windows, but otherwise very nice indeed.
Excellent, warm and snug and I suppose very lovely in the summer. Safe compound for the dog - would go again and we would recommend.
We travelled to The Goatshed from Sale in Cheshire on a very cold, wet and wintry Monday morning in October! There was fog, sleet and driving rain as we drove up the M62 and I was wondering what on earth had possessed me to book a week away in Yorkshire in October! However, as we arrived at the cottage in the farm grounds - the sun was shining and the sky had turned to a beautiful clear blue with not a cloud in sight! The owner - Mrs Peberdy - came to meet us with the cottage keys and gave us a very friendly welcome. She asked us to let her know if we needed anything and told us she would be available to help at any time. The cottage has been lovingly renovated. It was very spacious and comfortable and well equipped.Central heating radiators timed to come on early morning and evening meant we were always warm and cosy! The weather was kind to us all week and we were able to take advantage of the Goatshed's fabulous location every day! It was ideally located for us - just a 10 minute drive into Whitby or 15 minutes or so to Robin Hood's Bay - both really great places with lots of exploring and things to see. Sandsend - just a little outside Whitby was charming - the cottages by the river are picture postcard material! Scarborough, Filey, and Bridlington were all easily accessible and worth visiting as was Goatland - the home of Itv's 'Heartbeat'! Staithes (lovely old fishing harbour) was very interesting - our dog Ben spent hours running and swimming in the sea there! We really loved exploring the old Whitby town and hiking up all the steps to the abbey - the views made the effort worthwhile! Our stay at the Goatshed was excellent-we could not have wished for anything better.I would certainly recommend it and will be looking to go again next year!
The cottage was very warm, clean, functional and you could see that there had been a lot of thought and planning put into it to make sure you were very comfortable. A good location for touring the areas around Whitby and Yorkshire Moors. It is also a very private cottage, and the owners were very pleasant and helpful. I loved it and would certainly return.
A lovely warm cottage, very spacious and a great location for getting out and about. Robin Hoods Bay and Sandsend are delightful places to visit. We never knew there was so much to see and do in and around Whitby.
A perfect location to explore the coast and moors inland, and for anyone wanting a peaceful holiday.
The Goat Shed was the perfect place to spend our 10 year wedding anniversary. Lovely walks close by and friendly pubs (which welcomed our dog Busta!)...all in all a perfect place to spend a week relaxing. Highly recommend the Goat Shed for couples wanting to get away from it all.
Really nice spot to stay in quiet area very nice close to many places which are worth visiting like whitby, pickering, robin hoods bay and the north yorkshire moors
The cottage was well equipped and in a good location for touring the Moors and surrounding district. An excellent location for the above purpose. Freedom to suit oneself and enjoy the beauty of Yorkshire.
The cottage was ideally situated: down a quiet country lane with fantastic views over Whitby Bay as you approach the property. Only a 10 minute drive from Whitby, very close to Robin Hood's Bay and plenty of coastal walking with amazing views. If you want to get away from it all, this is definitely the place to stay.
We had a wonderful stay at the Goat Shed. We found it warm, snug and it had everything for a Romantic week away from the normal hussle and bussle of life. We enjoyed walks out around the area, Fishing in Whitby and Robin Hood Bay and plenty of drinks and meals at the inviting Flyindales Inn in Robin Hood Bay. It's a place that we'll return to for sure.
The Goat Shed was very cosy and warm, and we enjoyed our stay.
Cosy, peaceful and warm cottage.
It's right what people say once you've been to the Yorkshire coast you'll want to go back. The Goat Shed is perfectly placed for exploring the surrounding areas. It is set in the beautiful hills with views of the coast. The accomadation was excellent, comfy and clean. The owners were friendly and helpful which always makes your stay even better. We will be going again and recommending it to our friends and family.
Great location, very private.
It was a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Visited so many places during the week. The owner was helpful and very warm and welcoming. A smashing holiday ideally located close to several beaches. Cottage was very comfy, clean with all the necessaries provided to begin a super holiday.
Lovely area. Local pubs allowed dogs in the bar so we could eat out even when the weather was not suitable for sitting outside. North Yorks Railway was a great day out (again dog friendly) with very well kept stations - a delight. Local beaches also allowed dogs, in the main. In summary, we did not feel as restricted in what we could do as dog owners as elswhere in the country e.g. Devon.
The location was beautiful and within easy reach of the must see places. The owners were lovely and really helpful.
A really cosy cottage that was warm and clean in a excellent location for exploring both the North Yorkshire Coast and Moors.
Had a fantastic few days at The Goat Shed. Lovely place, lovely decor and our Jack Russell, Millie, had a fantastic time. Thanks to the owners and their daughter for being so hospitable. Would recommend to anybody.
Although the cottage was well furnished and had all the necessary equiptment and ultensils which were spotlessly clean the floors had not been swept properly especially the edges i had to do them again and they were thick with dust and dog hairs which we found unpleasant and upset our dog as he couldnt stop smelling around the room until i had swept and mopped all the floors. Also the courtyard wasnt really small dog friendly but we did have use of a small paddock but we had to carry our dog as the stones underfoot was uncomfortable for him.
Freindly, helpful and fresh eggs and milk on arrival. spacious living, good location. Due to nature of barn conversion there are few windows so no view- definitely a cottage for those who want to go out for the day- cosy in the evening, good central heating, adequate bathroom facilities,(good towels). had and issue with the velux window over the bed- it was midsummer and there was no blind so had to make do with a bin bag and some stickytape.kitchen equipment was very sparse, definitely a cottage for those who want to eat out and not cook at home. would suit a couple but really not so good with a child.Shame as the farm animals good. be prepared to hop out to open the gate a lot.
A very warm and cosy cottage in a good location.
The Goat Shed was warm, cosy and welcoming. The owners were very friendly and helpful. A lovely little cottage.
The paddock for the dog was great. This is a good centre to travel to attractions. The owners were very helpful. The courtesy pack was welcome.
The Yorkshire coast on the whole and being able to return to a clean, comfy, cosy Goat Shed!
Excellent up to date brochures in cottage. Lovely walks from the cottage - from Raw able to get onto the moors. Flyingdale Inn did excellent meals. Good butcher/baker in Flyingdale.
Most things were fine - the property was of a high quality and the location was good.
It was lovely to get away from the rush of Nottingham. Getting up in the morning and looking at the view was great. It was situated in a great location so that most of the coast could be covered.
A very comfortable place to stay.
We liked the fact that the property was in the countryside and the proximity of the animals. The air was fresh, the rural setting was very pleasant. We were near to lots of properties and places to visit which was an asset. We had a very pleasant holiday.
It's location is perfect near the sea and easily accessible. It's our second visit to the Goat Shed and it was as enjoyable, if not more so, than our first visit. It has a warm and friendly atmosphere. Every morning and evening my daughters could help feed all the animals. My eldest said 'it's better than Disneyland!' Would definitely return and recommend to friends.
Beautifully & thoughtfully converted, deceptively spacious.
Lovely bedroom and bathrooms. Large paddock area to exercise dog in which is completely enclosed and safe. Cottage open plan and very warm. 5 mins drive to Robin Hoods Bay.
A lovely clean cottage and very nice owner. Very quiet and perfect for a romantic break.
Beautiful location and surroundings.
I liked all of our short stay, even the stormy weather!
Fantastic location. Animals on site, alpacas, sheep and chickens.
An ideal location and a welcoming host.
Excellent value, comfortable, homely and very peaceful. Most commendable.
