A comfortable, well appointed cottage in a peaceful location with stunning views of the moors from the garden. Sitting in the garden looking at the stars (I have never seen so many) while enjoying a glass of wine was very special. The location made it easy to get to Hadrian's Wall, Alnwick and Cragside. Looking forward to visiting again.

My wife and i plus a small dog had a wonderful weeks holiday, the cottage was well maintained and John and Ann the owners where so friendly and helpful without being intrusive , the scenery was outstanding the forest and mountain, the cottage is only 11 miles to Scottish boarder there where so many places to visit we didn't fit them all in so hopefully we will be back next year, thank you Ann and John .from Heather and Les .

Cosy cottage with expansive views of the surrounding countryside. Otterburn is only 3 miles away where you can buy supplies in the village shop then visit Otterburn Mill, the cafe is well worth a visit and you can take dogs in the shop and cafe. Hexham and Hadrians Wall is about a 30 minute drive on quiet roads, Hexham Abbey is well worth a visit as is the market. Keillor Forest is a short drive and there are footpaths all over the place. The cottage itself is owned by the very helpful, friendly Ann and John. It is light, very clean, welcoming and has everything you need for your self catering holiday. We cannot wait to return.

A lovely warm friendly and welcoming property. A get away from the rat race sort of place. Ann & John very helpful. John even kindly helped make it even darker to enable hubby to use his telescope in this wonderful dark sky region. Shame he couldn't move the clouds but it gives us an excuse to visit again!

Spent a lovely half-term week at Drover's Rest. It's warm and very well equipped. The owners made us feel very welcome without being intrusive. The cottage is easy to find, being well signposted and handily placed near to a main road, but no traffic noise at all. Spectacular views and incredibly clear skies at night. Plenty to see & do in the local area, the cottage is also within reach of Hadrian's Wall, Cragside and the many coastal attractions. It's also dog-friendly which is a major plus.

We have just returned from our week at Drivers rest. The property is warm, comfortable and we'll equipped. The photographs do not do the location justice the views are stunning. Ann and John are very friendly and leave you to enjoy the holiday. There is a lot to see and do around the area. We had never been to Northumbria before but will definitely return to Drivers rest. We didn't want to leave.

The cottage was lovely, clean and well appointed. there were flowers and a packet of biscuits waiting for us on our arrival. The heating system was excellent. The hosts were very friendly and left you to do your own thing but were very approachable for help and advice. Although the fridge in the cottage has a small freezer the hosts were very willing to share their large freezer with you. The surrounding area was the beautiful Northumbrian countryside. Less than 20 miles to the seaside and many places of interest easily accessible. The local pub (1 Mile approx. away) does excellent food and drink. The local village shop (3 mile approx. away) is well stocked and offers a dining area offering cooked food etc. There is an Otterburn Mill outlet selling clothing and gifts is in the village also offering snack food. We loved the peace and tranquillity of the area and the friendliness of the residents and would recommend a visit.

Had a great 3 nights at Drover's Rest. Ideally located in the Dark Sky area of Northumberland and close to Kielder Forest for star gazing and going to visits to Kielder Forest and Castle. Cottage was warm and cozy with all the necessary equipment required for a weekend away. Owners live in the house next door and are friendly and helpful. Would recommend this cottage. Lovely location and still close to all the things you may want to visit, pubs, castles, lakes, countryside. Lynne and Allan

Very pleasant & clean cottage. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, make sure you take directions as there is no wifi so had to stop at the mill shop in Otterburn! Even through Otterburn is remote, nearest supermarket is 23 miles away in Hexham there is lots to do and see in Northumberland especially if you are National Trust members. We had a very good holiday and would recommend staying in Otterburn again.

Rural location, larger than it looked on the website. Property spotlessly clean and warm, bedrooms comfortable, garden large, great leaflets providing info on local attractions and the owner was friendly and very helpful. Great location for touring area, 14 miles from Kielder Forest and reservoir. Wonderful towns, very quaint with friendly local shops. Great historic locations within easy driving access.

Rated by Mr Darby reviewed on 7th August 2012

We (me, my husband and our dog Cody) had a really good week's break walking in this beautiful area. The location of the cottage provided a excellent base from which to explore the area, from Kielder to the Cheviotts and Hadrians Wall to the Coast, all within a reasonable driving distance through lovely countryside. The cottage itself was of a high standard, clean and comfortable, with excellent views in a peaceful setting and a pleasant garden to relax in. It had everything we needed (and more). The owners were very welcoming and whilst they are nearby should you need anything they also gave us our privacy. The shop in Otterburn was well stocked with all the essentials and local produce needed for the stay. We would definitely consider staying here again.

Rated by Mrs Knowles reviewed on 16th May 2011

We liked the home comforts that Drovers Rest provided for us. Upon our arrival the owners even provided a vase full of lovely daffodils which was very welcoming. After long days out it was a pleasure to return to the cottage each evening. The facilities were excellent and it was ideally situated being central to most places of interest. Northumbria is a wilderness of beauty - we thoroughly enjoyed this holiday.

The cottage was well situated for exploring the Northumberland National Park and Hadrians Wall in the south of the region. It was also easy to drive into Scotland, and to the Northumberland coast. The scenery was wonderful and there were so many places to visit. The cottage was easy to access off the A68 but was surrounded by the serenity of the high moors.

Rated by Mr Davies reviewed on 29th August 2009

The location was great for what we wanted, ie. in the middle of nowhere. This might not suit everyone though. Otterburn was a very pleasant village, only about three or four miles away, and the scenery from the cottage was wonderful. The couple who owned it lived adjacent and were very pleasant, friendly and helpful.
