Just outside the Dorset Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty was a peaceful, rural community. A popular pub founded in 1750, a parish church going back to before the 15th century, and a Spar store can all be found in the small, historic village of Hazelbury Bryan. There is a children's play area and a field with cricket and football equipment in the community as well. With the Dorset and Cranborne Chase Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty nearby, which provide excellent chances for hikers and bikers with beautiful views to go with it, Hazelbury Bryan proved to be a perfect location for exploring the outdoors. The community has a fair assortment of stores and restaurants despite being somewhat remote; Sherborne, the closest well-stocked town, is 10 miles distant. Visit Bournemouth, a charming town with lots to see and do, around 25 miles south of here if you feel like a vacation to the shore.
A delightful cottage in a lovely setting, with superb views.
Where do we start! It was quiet peaceful and in such a nice location, with lovely hosts. We thoroughly enjoyed it, and the garden was enclosed so it was good for the dog too.
A lovely, peaceful place. The scenery around is very rural and attractive. Easily accessible walks nearby. Some interesting places a short drive away.
Peaceful and rural setting with beautiful views. Clean and comfortable accommodation. Friendly and helpful owners.
We have stayed at The Stables before and find it very comfortable for us and our small dog. The garden is ideal. We like the location as it is in a rural area with lots of walks on your doorstop and not too far to drive to the local shops and good pubs. We will stay again.
The owners were very friendly. A beautiful cottage up a long drive with electric gates for security, horses grazing in the fields and being stabled very close to the cottage. Very quiet and remote but close enough to drive to shops.
Beautiful property in a private and tranquil setting. Well located for the visitor attractions of Dorset, Wiltshire and Somerset. Good owners, there if you needed them and allowing you to get on with your holiday.
We had a warm welcome given to us by the owners on our arrival. Tea, coffee and cakes were very welcome after travelling to the cottage. The scenery was wonderful, it was very peaceful and quiet. All the pubs were dog friendly and very welcoming. We would definitely like to go back sometime.
An excellent location, it was quiet and relaxing. Had a lovely enclosed garden which was a a sun-trap.
A beautiful rural location, friendly and welcoming owner, a charming cottage.
First class accommodation in lovely surroundings. Our hosts/owners were delightful. Look forward to returning. Highly recommended.
The house was in a delightfully peaceful location and was exceptionally clean and well laid out. The garden was perfect. We could not fault it! Our hosts were very friendly and helpful too! We only wish we could have stayed longer.
Lovely cottage in very peaceful surroundings, stunning views from the bottom of the garden. Friendly owners.
The location of the cottage was great, nice and peaceful, but we could venture to towns very easily.
The Stables is in the perfect location, the views are fantastic. The cottage is very well equipped and very cosy in December. The owners are welcoming, friendly and informative of the local area. We could not have wished for more, it was the start of a good Christmas break.
The Stables is a well equipped and spacious self contained property. The owners farmhouse is close at hand, but completely separate. This region is a delight for anyone who likes quiet and natural rural England. There are many delightful small towns and villages within easy reach and some excellent pubs serving really good food. The Dorset coast is not far away and is easily reached. The local lanes are quite narrow but are generally quiet and represent no drawback - they are part of the attraction for us! The house itself was very comfortable and the owners were very helpful and pleasant and respected our privacy perfectly.
The cottage was warm and comfortable, and the garden was very pretty and well kept. The views from the cottage were beautiful, and the farm was so peaceful and relaxing. The owners were lovely and chatty, but never intrusive. We would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to stay in this area.
Nice spacious property, well equipped and clean. Excellent location. Very welcoming and helpful owners.
Peace and tranquillity. Caring owners who we have become friends with over the last 5 years. Already booked for next year. The cottage is situated in a beautiful position on the hill, you can see for miles.
Arrived to find cupcakes, tea bags, milk and sugar waiting for us! The cottage, gardens, views are fabulous and the surrounding area is so peaceful and quiet.
Great scenic location for just getting away from the stresses of every day life. Good location to visit places of interest. Would definitely recommend this cottage to family & friends. Very enjoyable holiday.
The cottage was lovely and comfortable and well appointed in a beautiful location with panoramic views at the rear. The owners were very pleasant and helpful. A really good base for a holiday with many interesting locations within a reasonable distance.
Good standard of accommodation and peaceful location. Secure garden perfect for dogs and children. Owners very obliging.
The owners of the cottage were very welcoming. The location of the cottage is very pleasant with lovely views from the grounds.
A perfect setting, we were left to our own devices but owner was on hand to answer any questions. It was peaceful and exceeded expectations.
We were warmly welcomed by the owner. the property was home from home and had been decorated with a lovely Christmas tree. Comfortable size for 4 adults and we had a dog with us. The garden attached to the stables was dog/child friendly. We found a local pub The Green Man very friendly and the food was tasty. The landlord was helpful with giving us space to accommodate a toddler and dog, which allowed us to have an enjoyable time there. The stables is quite isolated if you wanted to do any shopping, having said that found a supermarket in Sturminster Newton offering a good range of products. Enjoyable, peaceful location.
The hosts were most hospitable and asked if there was anything else we needed, which there was not as everything was perfect. Lovely, peaceful location. Enjoyed watching horses and hot air balloons.
We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked to return for the week commencing 21st Sept next year. We enjoyed nearly all aspects.
Lovely situation and very nice hosts, they couldn't have been more helpful. Loved the ponies!
Secure garden and dog friendly. Good access to many tourist locations.
Very welcoming cottage, wonderful things for the children, house fully equipped and a lovely garden.
The property was very welcoming. We loved every minute that we were there and were sorry to leave. Everything we hoped for and more.
The accommodation was perfect in every way and the friendliness of the owners, along with the people who stabled their horses there, made it a very enjoyable stay. We had the freedom to go wherever we wanted and although the weather was not good we found some lovely walks.
The standard of the accommodation and attention to detail of the fittings of the cottage. One of the best we have stayed in and there have been many.
Friendly and helpful owners, lovely setting. Great cottage in a great area for both walking and exploring. Although on a working farm it was great to have an enclosed garden to relax in with the dog and not worry about the animals on the farm.
Lovely cottage in stunning surroundings and very helpful friendly owners. All in all a great holiday. Would recommend this cottage, hopefully we will be back next year.
This is our third stay at the cottage and will be booking again for next year. The peace and tranquility of the cottage garden and access to the land is wonderful. The owners are really kind and helpful, nothing was to much trouble.
Good standard of accommodation. Friendly owners, but not overbearing. Secure garden was a godsend with young children. Dishwasher, microwave and washing machine! Overall a great holiday.
The owners made us very welcome, and the cottage was very well equipped and provided all that we could wish for. The Dorset countryside is wonderful and The Stables is a great base from which to explore the surrounding areas. We will certainly be recommending The Stables and hope to return soon!
Everything. From the minute we arrived, and were greeted by the owners and the lovely homemade cakes. The surroundings were just lovely and to have the horses stabled next door was a bonus as we absolutely love horses. The whole holiday experience including the weather was faultless. We will certainly be making another visit. Yet another wonderful property offered through Sykes.
Location is great - overlooking lovely countryside. The cottage was larger than we expected and had everything we needed. Star gazing with clear skies at night was a big bonus as there is no light pollution, and the area is so quiet; we really enjoyed our stay. The hosts are very approachable and made our stay perfect. We enjoyed an evening at The Exchange in Stur which stages varied events and has a really friendly atmosphere.
Excellent location for visiting Dorset. The owners were extremely helpful. The enclosed garden was excellent for our dog.
The hosts were very accommodating - bought us a lighter weight duvet as it was quite warm. Also nice to have home made cakes on arrival. Lovely quiet location.
2nd stay in this property and once again we had a brilliant week. The owners are really helpful especially with the dogs. We enjoyed the Great Dorset Steam Fair.
Tranquil location in beautiful area. Lovely comfortable cottage. Owners very friendly and helpful. One of our best holidays ever.
I could not fault this cottage, every comfort had been provided. The owners were so helpful and friendly and made us feel very much at home. Furnishings and decor were of a very high standard. Garden was dog friendly too.
Peaceful location and surroundings. Vicinity of cottage in relation to surrounding attractions including beaches.
Lovely quiet area and easy to get to places in the surrounding area. We had everything we required in the house and enjoyed the stay very much.
Warm welcome from the owners with tea and chocolate cake, cosy cottage with Christmas decorations, fenced in garden for dog and nice walks and beautiful countryside.
Probably the best cottage we've stayed in, comfortable for a family of 4. Great garden and a great place to explore the county of Dorset. Owners were polite and welcoming and stopped for a chat when they saw you!!
The cottage was totally as we had hoped, and in a very good location for visiting the whole of Dorset.
The location is outstanding, as are the views and the tranquility. The owners are very friendly, informative and really made you welcome.
Our hosts were really lovely. Fabulous cottage, best we have stayed in!

The views from the property were spectacular...
It is a great location and a very nice cottage. The owners make you feel very welcome. The horses next door are a great attraction too. Beautiful countryside.
This was our second visit to this property, the first being last December. I am very pleased to say that the very high standard has been maintained, and we now look forward to another visit, probably next year!
