Location Details

With traditional stone cottages and shops, clustered around the cobbled market place, Grassington is one of the most charming villages in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Offering outstanding shopping facilities for a settlement of its size, this village hosts a monthly farmer's market with a delicious range of organic and home-made local produce. This superb walking area is full of interesting natural features such as the River Wharfe and extensive Grass Woods which lay to the north of the village. Bolton Abbey with the Abbey ruins, the Priory and the famous "Strid Walk" is a short distance away, as is the elegant town of Ilkley, situated in the shadow of Ilkley Moor. The cathedral city of York is within easy driving distance and offers a wide range of attractions such as the Viking museum, the National Railway Museum and the chilling York Dungeon.

From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublime Dales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?

Reviews

We booked to stay at Bridge End last New Year and had an amazing experience staying here in Grassington so we decided to book again for this New Year. We were not disappointed with our stay. On arrival we were welcomed with a clean and warm cottage, and a welcome pack of tea, coffee, milk and biscuits were provided. The last occupants had taken the pepper mill but another was ordered and dropped off at the property within a few days. The kitchen has recently been refurbished to an excellent standard. The open fire has been changed to a log burner which we have used most nights. Everything at this location is on your doorstep, the walks along the river are to the left as you leave the property and the village is up the hill on your right. The Forresters pub up the road was a great place for a drink with the log fire roaring. We walked to Burnsall along the river and called for a drink at the Red Lion on New Years Day which took about three hours round trip. The location is very quiet as we are the last property down the hill apart from the walkers passing by. We are still here taking in the last couple of days and I cannot recommend this property enough. This year, I booked directly with the owners of the property which I would also advise.

We are still here whilst I write my review and really don’t want to leave. This house is beautiful and the kitchen well equipped for a party of 8 including two children and a dog. There is practically everything you could need. The views from the house are spectacular and the town is a five minute walk away. I love the fact there are two sitting rooms, we would light the open fire on an evening and retire with a glass of wine… or two! I will definitely return here maybe in the summer to appreciate the garden and views in the early morning and late evening.

Had a fab weekend here , amazing location with beautiful views of the Dales The house is spacious with seperate lounge area’s , which was good Bedrooms are nice , a double with the remainder singles ( i enjoyed the bedroom in the lower part of the house) it was nice & cool( which was a bonus in the hot spell we had) Both bathrooms had powerful showers The house had everything you needed The garden was to die for, amazing scenery and a summer house was a nice touch Grassington village was a short walk away I only have a few suggestions to make: A parasol would of been useful - due to baking sunshine Larger fridge/freezer would be useful being located in the kitchen area All beds to have cotton sheets - some had silky covers Overall an amazing house ! Would def stay here again !

Stayed here for a special break with my family , sisters special birthday. The weather was kind to us which meant we could enjoy the lovely garden and river views. The house is so comfortable, plenty of space for 7 of us. Comfy beds and very nice bathrooms. A ten minute walk into Grassington. Fabulous dinner at Grassinton house and an equally delicious Sunday lunch at The Black horse inn. Would definitely stay again. Xx

1 Bridge End is a really lovely house, which has been furnished with care and attention. Plenty of room for 8 people. The location could not be better, the views are stunning and the Dale Way is right in front, perfect!

This was one of the best houses we have stayed in. It is in an excellant position, only a couple of minutes walk from Grassington and with spectacular views. The house itself is decorated beautifully and is very comfortable. It was also reasonably priced for the size and condition of the house. I would recommend 1 Bridge End to anyone wanting to visit Grassington and we hope to stay there again.

This is a fabulous cottage with amazing views. One of the highlights of our week was sitting in the garden in the sunshine. The house was beautifully furnished and decorated and had everything we needed. Being able to walk from the door was brilliant so we kept car use to a minimum. We hope to return next year. Thank you.

I stayed at this cottage with my sister and her 2 children. Although the weather wasn't brilliant we enjoyed walks along the river with the dog and sitting in the garden in the sunshine making the most of the amazing view. The cottage was scrupulously clean and comfortable and had everything we needed. I would recommend this cottage to anyone who enjoys walking, views and the beautiful dales countryside.

The cottage suited ALL our needs. The dining area was lovely and cosy and had a table large enough to sit us all. We all loved the view from the cottage, we spent nights in enjoying good local food and wine watching the wildlife and river. We went on many walks around the cottage and visited the local hostelries where we enjoyed the drink, food and company of the locals. I would highly recommend this cottage.

A lovely property.

Rated by Mrs Hellewell reviewed on 17th December 2013

Bridge End 1 has ample space for six people, wonderfully and tastefully furnished rooms, and the most magnificent view out of the bay window of the living room. Hiking tours can be started right from the property, and still there is no car needed for grocery shopping - the "center" of Grassington is only a five minutes' walk away. Backdraws: The room in the basement felt a bit damp, so we did not use it (and we did not need to - there were enough beds for the six of us upstairs). And the traffic across the bridge that gave the house its name is a little bit loud, but the cars' noise mixes up with the very soothing rushing of the river.

We had a faboulous week in 1 Bridge End - the photos did not prepare us for the wonderful location just yards from the riverbank. Great for walking and ideal for our dog - we all loved the summerhouse where early evening sundowners were enjoyed looking over the flowing river. The owners have equipped this house to the highest standard and have provided every possible home comfort which, together with the ease of walking into Grassington so easily, makes this a house we will definitely retrun to

Fabulously appointed house on the river. Beautiful interior design, attention to detail. Immaculately clean. Kids loved all the nooks and crannies to hide in, I loved the views, peace and quiet, and proximity to village (a short walk). Excellent place to stay with our kids aged 12, 9 and 6. Lots of stairs probably not suited to toddlers Only things to fault - the lack of provision of bath towels and wifi.

The cottage was great - really nicely furnished with everything we needed - and in a great location. The kids loved taking the dog down to the river and walking in to the village to go the sweetshop (just like childhood should be). We could walk for miles from the house (found a great book on the internet 'Yorkshire Dale Pub in the middle circular walks) and found great places for lunch. It rained heavily every day but we had a super time. Only disadvantage was the garden is not enclosed and the house is next to wuite a busy road but the house and location make up for this and we just made sure the dog was controlled.
