When you book a holiday cottage you expect the standards to meet or exceed your own , this is not the case at this cottage. We arrived after 4 hour journey, it was raining and the first thing to note was that there was no door so straight away we were walking dirt on to the floors and had to resort to putting our dogs towel on the floor. Things just did not improve, the cottage was not clean, the sofa was filthy and whilst we brought our own throws , it turned out I would not have wanted my dogs on the sofa! The kitchen lacked basic equipment such as a washing up brush, the grill pan was filthy as was the oven, the freezer had a thick layer of ice and the cooking pans were to dirty to use. Upstairs the bed was very old, there were no pillow protectors and the pillows were heavily stained, the duvet on the top floor bed should have been replaced a long time ago. There was nasal fluid on one of the curtains and the bathroom lacked a toilet roll so that after our long journey we were not able to use the facility but had to leave and go shopping and use toilet facilities elsewhere, the bathroom also smelt very unpleasant. Outside we were not able to let the dogs roam freely as there was a thick sludge outside the back door and some type of mould growing on it. A truly unpleasant experience.....the owner has failed to acknowledge my complaint apart from to say that he has reprimanded the cleaning company and the next clients will find the cottage cleaner, no compensation has been offered and today he has told the booking company that he rectified the cleanliness issues after speaking with us!! If I ran Sykes Cottages I would delist this cottage......a total disgrace
An excellent, nicely decorated, well equipped and spotlessly clean property. It was well located just across the road from the owners equestrian centre. From the bedroom window, we thoroughly enjoyed watching the horses and riders jumping in the arena. It was a very good base, with lots of lovely places to visit round about and some excellent pubs and restaurants nearby. Only one problem, it was not long enough, we wished we could have stayed longer. Thoroughly enjoyed the cottage and would love to return in the near future. Thank you.
The location was ideal for our needs. It was a very well equipped home for the week, and was comfortable and clean, bright and airy. The off road parking was good.
We couldn't have asked for more. Very comfortable, beautifully presented and well equipped holiday cottage. The owner was very helpful.
This is a beautifully renovated red brick terraced cottage, within easy reach of Chester. Plus points- excellent bathroom with bath and large shower cubicle and good water pressure. Beds comfortable, and quality bed linen and towels provided. Free WiFi Dog friendly with enclosed garden Negatives-- the road noise. The cottage is in the V of two main roads, so cars race by at the back and the front.Might be OK in winter with windows closed, but in summer the noise was awful- I could only sleep using earplugs The lounge had inadequate furniture for 6, and the futon settee was excruciatingly uncomfortable- we brought in dining chairs to sit on instead In kitchen no large glasses provided, and only 2 teaspoons ( with 3 plastic ones) Grass cut in the garden, but borders unkempt and full of weeds- not a very nice place in which to sit.
The cottage was so well equipped, modern and clean that we were very happy with it. The owners have obviously taken great care to provide good quality furniture and fittings and it has all been modernised to a very high standard. Having the rear vehicle access made dealing with the road so much easier, so it wasn't a problem at all.
Excellent location for us, accommodation was of very good standard with a thoughtful well planned layout. Off road Parking at rear of property for two cars. Plenty of space in the garden. Good quality sheets, quilts and towels (plenty of towels as well). All accessories for a child as well with travel cot, stair gates and high chairs. Shower was excellent too.
Nice and relaxing. Nice cottage.
Organsdale cottage is a lovely little cottage that is well situated for a great family holiday. only 10 mins drive from Delamere forest where we spent a few fantastic days walking the trails and the train station which was only 30 mins to Chester which is a great town with lots to do.We also went to New Brighton beach which was 40 mins away but worth it. The cottage was clean and worm and a good size for 4 but a bit of a squeeze for 6 but the fireplace was a bonus and we had it roaring every night. a few more tools in the kitchen would not have gone as miss (decent knife, chopping board, that sort of thing) and something to split logs with that are available at the local shop but all in all a great place to stay if you want a bit of country living. The traffic noise was not a problem and the kids loved watching the riding school of a morning through the top bedroom window. We have book a few cottages over the years and feel this one would be worth coming back to.
