Doveridge, a picturesque rural village, is conveniently close to the Peak District National Park. Doveridge, which was mentioned in the Domesday Book, is situated in an area with plenty of scenic trails for hiking and biking. There's a general store and post office in the village, and they also serve coffee. St. Cuthbert's Church, built before the 13th century, is home to a yew tree that is said to be 1,000 years old. The tree is propped up by crutches and is believed to be the setting for Robin Hood and Maid Marion's wedding. The church is located close to the Victorian suspension footbridge that crosses the River Dove. Uttoxeter, a larger town in Staffordshire with more services and a racetrack, is only three miles away from the village. The National Trust's Sudbury Hall and Museum of Childhood are conveniently located nearby, providing a fascinating look into bygone eras. Ashbourne, a nearby market town famous for its eccentric street plan, narrow cobbled alleys, and quaint coaching inns, is also a shopping and dining mecca for antiques enthusiasts, with its many excellent stores and diverse selection of watering holes. Carsington Water, Blithfield Reservoir, and Alton Towers are all within a scenic drive, and the Dove and Manifold Valleys, as well as many other National Trust properties and places of interest, are also close by, making this a wonderful location for relaxation and enjoyment throughout the year.
