This sympathetically restored, semi-detached stone barn is in the delightful hamlet of Ollerbrook only 10 minutes walk from Edale. It is on the owner's working sheep farm and offers a high standard of accommodation that retains many of its original features. The living accommodation is bright and spacious and on open plan, the lovely kitchen is well fitted and both the dining area and comfortable, cosy sitting room has the original beams and the outlook from the windows is stunning. There are two bedrooms, both affording a tranquil atmosphere and the shower room is fresh and bright. Outside there is a lovely patio area with a shared barbecue and garden furniture, and for outside games, a shared paddock. This is a great property for a family holiday all year round.

A charming semi-detached barn conversion, situated next to the owners’ farmhouse on their working sheep farm, in the small, rural hamlet of Ollerbrook, just 10 minutes' walk from the lovely village of Edale. Skilfully converted by local craftsmen, this 17th century former working barn is the ideal base for a couple on a romantic retreat or a small family looking to enjoy all that the beautiful Peak District National Park has to offer. A cottage with plenty of character in great surroundings.
The lovely High Peaks village of Edale is the start of the Pennine way and liesat the foot of Kinder Scout. It has two pubs, and one of them, The Nags Head, is usually accepted as the start of The Pennine Way walk. With credentials like these it's little wonder that the area attracts so many walkers, and they won't be disappointed. The village has a general store combined with a post office and a Moorland Visitor Centre. Castleton is only four miles away and is a village that has something for everyone, a ruined Norman Castle, Blue John caves and all under the auspicious gaze of Mam Tor, "The Shivering Mountain." All in all the charming village of Edale is a fabulous holiday location.

The ultimate in "year-round" appeal, the Peak District offers countryside, picturesque villages and magnificent scenery. It touches upon six counties and encloses 555 square miles of open moorland, flowing rivers, and wooded dales.
We stayed with along with friends who had booked the cottage for a long weekend in which we wanted to do some walking in the peak district and to visit their son who has just moved to Sheffield. Edale is the perfect location for both with Sheffield a 30 minute train journey away and Kinder Scout on your doorstep. The instructions for finding the cottage were completely clear and we found it first time, in the dark. The cottage is very well equipped for self catering, a great size for two couples (two toilets help) and is a 10-15 minute walk from two pubs, the station and the start of the Pennine way. The bedrooms are a decent size, the bedding and towels are of excellent quality and the amount of hot water and power of the shower was first rate. All in all a great cottage, would love to come back again soon - maybe in late spring next time.
We've stayed in these cottages for a few years now and have really enjoyed them. This year we stayed in Midfeather Cottage which is well appointed, comfortable and has everything we need. The owners cannot do enough to be helpful. The views are stunning from the cottage and you can do an amazing walk every day from the front door. We have already booked a cottage here for next year.
The cottage was in an excellent condition and immaculate which made a great impression from the start of the holiday. The owners of the cottages were always very pleasant and sociable making it a pleasure to stay in their farm.
Absolutely loved this cottage, it's set in a beautiful location, with lots of walks nearby. Will definitely be back.
A superbly equipped cottage decorated to a very high standard. The owners were superb and couldn't do enough for us. We had a brilliant holiday and would recommend Midfeather to anyone visiting the Peak District.
The cottage had everything that you could possibly need and the area was fantastic. It was also spotlessly clean - highly recommended.
We all very much enjoyed our visit; the cottage was perfect for us in terms of layout as it lent itself perfectly to cooking and socialising. The dishwasher made a massive difference too. The bedrooms were a nice size and very comfortable. The property was surrounded by stunning countryside and the owners were very friendly and available if we needed them. We will definitely go back one day.
We have been taking cottage holidays for the past 20years and this has to be one of the cleanest and with the highest standard of furnishings that we have been to. The property had the wow factor as soon as we opened the front door. The owner was helpful without being intrusive and was there when needed. 10 out of 10.
If you are looking for a cottage in the ideal location to explore the peaks this is it, the owner has thought of everything, it was spotless on arrival with good wi fi and it gets 5 stars for the quality of everything in the cottage. We have been having cottage holidays for over 20 years and are quite picky but this is up with the best of them
The general location of the cottage is great for walking direct from the door. The owner is very friendly and helpful and keeps the cottage in a first rate condition. We have already decided that if possible we will return later in the year.
Midfeather Cottage provided our family with a great location to relax, complete with wonderful views & very friendly & helpful owners. We will certainly be booking again later this year, & recommend this location to anyone looking for a nice quiet place to relax.
Out of the way but in the right place for a great walking holiday. The cottage was excellent, everything you could need. Will be back again.
Great property set in stunning countryside. A good base for walking locally and within easy reach of other attractions by short car journeys. Midfeather is a lovely, warm and comfortable cottage to return to during the colder weather. It's a very well equipped cottage run by lovely hosts.
Really nice quiet location..a great place to chill for a week.
A lovely cottage in a stunning location. Completely quiet and peaceful, away from roads, beautiful views and great walks from the door. We had a wonderful time here and Midfeather Cottage is one of the best holiday cottages we've ever rented.
Very friendly, helpful owner. The property was up a little track, away from it all, just the sound of bleating sheep in the morning, really relaxing.
Lovely accommodation, everywhere clean and spotless. The children loved the feel of being on the farm. We rented both cottages so the whole family could be together; it was brilliant!
Exceptional quality of equipment and cleanliness. You could not ask for better. Amazing situation for a walking holiday. Very pleasant and helpful landlady.
The location was excellent and the views were awesome. It was a relaxing location on a working farm and the owners were friendly and helpful. The cottage was excellent with all amenities required. The perfect place to enjoy all that the Peak District has to offer.
Best location for hiking around Edale, great food in Edale's pub. Accomodation provides everything for cooking your own hot meals after a day long ramble, very pleasant, comfortable. Only downside was the old wooden doors of the rooms that made a lot of noise when opened or shut...if you managed to shut it, that is. But the doors did add to the character of the property.Dont know what the garden is all about...the two square metres paved at the front?or the entire farm which is great
Surpassed our expectations in every way.
The thoughtfulness of the owner. The peace and tranquillity of the location.
Owners very good without being intrusive. Superbly converted cottage on a working farm. Very well equipped and in an excellent location. Within 10 minutes walk to the village pub and shop. There was nothing to dislike - only the weather during the week we were there! We certainly recommend Midfeather Cottage, and look forward to staying there again.
Decent, good value property in a great location. Lovely bedding!
Superb cottage in an excellent location!
We loved the setting - beautiful scenery. A quiet hamlet but walkers kept it from feeling too isolated. We loved the drive down from the top road. The cottage was comfortable and had a well equipped kitchen.
Midfeather Cottage was beautiful, very clean, well equipped, warm with plenty of hot water, a powerful shower, comfortable beds and furniture and all equipment working well. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The location is amazing with walking straight from the door, wonderful views and plenty to do and see in the area. We intend to return and would highly recommend it to friends and family. Sykes were efficient and the booking process was simple and hassle-free. Thank you!
The location of the cottage was perfect for the walking we wanted to do and for touring the area. It was also peaceful and quiet with lovely views. It was warm and cosy too.
Excellent small cottage in a fantastic location for exploring the High Peaks. Good walks straight from the door. Owner was friendly and welcoming. Edale village is only a short walk across the fields with 2 good pubs.
Me, my husband and my parents have just arrived home from our one week stay at Midfeather. Well what can i say, most definately one of the best holidays we ever had.The cottage itself is beautiful and finished to an extremely high standard and was equiped with everything you could possibly need. Its also spotlessly clean and very cosy (just perfect for relaxing after a long day hiking up the dales!) Just a short and very pleasant walk through the fields is the lovely country pub The Nags Head. Just remember to take a good torch for the walk home through the fields, as its pitch black! Owners are very lovely and helpful. All in all, fab location and accomodation. Cant wait to return next year as we are already missing waking up to nothing more than the sound of the odd sheep talking!!
The barn conversion was very roomy. The kitchen within the living room worked very well and the bedrooms had lovely high ceilings. There was washing up liquid, dishwashing tablets, jay cloths and plenty of toilet rolls. The lighting was very good throughout the cottage. Excellent facilities.
We had a lovely few days in the peace and quiet with a short walk to the pub. Wonderful!
We recently stayed in the cottage for three nights and were delighted by the location, cleanliness and facilities. The kitchen facilities and utensils were excellent and included everything we could have possibly needed. The cottage was very clean and tidy and the games and wifi were a lovely touch and not expected. The only downside is that the second, smaller bedroom is a little compact and may not be suitable for very young children or an adult couple. There is rather a lot of furniture in the room which makes it a little cramped and that meant I had to put my suitcase in the hall unless I wanted to unpack (although as I was there for such a short time I didn't really see the point!) As there is a lot of storage in other parts of the property I would recommend taking out some of the additional chest of drawers to make the room more spacious. The real selling point of this property is the location. Edale is a beautiful village and the cottage is just far enough away to feel remote. We did some fantastic walks straight from the cottage and then came home to a really comfortable bed. Would def return.
Magnificent scenery, cottage situated at end of the road without being too isolated. Friendly host next door and lovely farm setting (barn of lambs next to us). A beautifully presented property.
This was the best equipped cottage that we have ever stayed in and the location is stunning! The friendliness of the owners on the farm made our stay even more enjoyable. We didn't want to come home!
Absolutely wonderful weather and Edale valley was equally fantastic. Cottage was just great and the owners were extremely helpful. My youngest loved the lambs and there were marvelous walks. Cycling in Derwent Valley was a great family day out.
High standard of decor. Very warm and cosy. Friendly owner, very welcoming.
We experienced a most relaxing week in stunning surroundings. The owners were most helpful and accommodating. They were also most reassuring when faced with our vehicle being snowed in for 5 days and arranged for local farming friends to plough an escape route. We are looking forward to returning in the future.
The location is wonderful and the owners were very friendly and yet very discreet. The views and walks from the door were fabulous.
The valley of Edale was very picturesque, very nice to walk out the front door to. There are great walks from the front door leading up to Kinder Scout plateau in an hour or two. Scenery and emptiness were great. Many other good walks nearby.
The cottage was beautifully fitted out, in a modern style but conserving all the original barn features. The location and views were stunning, we had easy access to plenty of footpaths and local towns. The service was friendly but discreet. This cottage worked out great for our long weekend with small children, there were some nice touches, including childrens games and provision of essential items such as soap and kitchen items.
This property and the others at the same location are in a most wonderful location with beautiful views and a short, pleasant walk from Edale village. On the negative side though, we had some problems with the customer service aspect of the holiday which really marred our enjoyment of our stay and we felt particularly let down afterwards by Sykes Holiday Cottages aftercare service. We would also advise anyone considering this property to be aware of the bedroom sizes, especially if you need a cot.
A gem of a conversion in a hidden farm. Ideal if, like us, you enjoy walking in the heart of the Peak District. Open country is within a few hundred metres and the village of Edale is a 5 minute stroll. Accomodation iscomfortable and very well equipped. The courtyard location adjacent a working farm adds atmosphere and the occasional farm odour! We loved it.
The cottage was excellent, the area is fantastic and the owners are very friendly.
Midfeather Cottage gave us a quiet and comfortable break at the start of the holidays. The cottage itself was very well equipped, fresh and clean. The condition of the furniture, linen and kitchen items were very good. The location was great for us as we had hoped for a relaxing break but ended up doing some walking in the area as it is so lovely. The cottage is near enough to amenities to be able to eat out and shop when needed. The owners were very welcoming, helpful and friendly but did not intrude on your holiday in spite of all the cottages being close to one another and the farm house.
The property is beautifully maintained, very well stocked with all essentials and well furnished. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The location is wonderful, with views of Mam Tor from the bedroom windows and countryside all around.
We loved the location of the cottage as it meant that we could walk from the door. The owners were very helpful and friendly, giving us ideas on where to walk and eat.
Well decorated, furnished and equipped cottage. Isolated quiet location but only a ten minute walk to the pub in Edale. Great walks from the doorstep.
First rate cottage in a lovely secluded location.
Very pleasant accommodation in a quiet location.
We spent a week in this beautiful Hamlet in Edale. The walks, scenery and wider area were all stunning. the property was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. The famouse pub at the start of the Penine way is only a 10 minute walk away across fields. If you wanted to visit Sheffield or Manchester, the there is a mainline station within walking distance. I would have no hesitation in booking this property again and recommending it to couples and families.
The cottage was all it appeared to be in the pictures and more. Ample parking, superior cleanliness and outstanding facilities provided. We shall be returning to this cottage next year and we can't wait...
Remote area, beautiful scenery. Relaxing. The photos on your website to not do the cottage justice, it was much nicer. Would love to come back for longer next time.
Great cottage and great location.
The peace and quiet along with the great hospitality made it perfect. The holiday went without a problem and we slept like logs for the first time in years.
The cottage was in an ideal location for walking. You could do many walks from the cottage without having to use the car. Closeness to the rail station for trips to Manchester and Sheffield. Beautiful scenery and welcoming hosts.
It was a very quiet, away from it all holiday.
Lovely position on a working farm with walking routes from the door. Great property to return to even on wet days with facilities to cope with washing, drying etc and always hot water for showers in a warm shower room.
We have booked Sykes cottages before so knew what standard to expect and it did not disappoint. I have recommended to friends.
Great location, close to pub. Friendly and helpful owners. Fantastic, quiet area and a real country feel.
Everything really was excellent. Would not hesitate in coming again.
The Nags Head in Edale is an excellent pub with great food. Great base for walks around Edale area and a view of Mam Tor (Iron age Fort) from the window.
We occupied Midfeather and Meadow View and the comments apply to both properties. Both cottages were extremely well equipped in immaculate condition. The owner was a genuine and delightful person.
Made very welcome, milk in fridge and homemade scones on arrival. Everything clearly explained.
Absolutely lovely, peaceful location. The property was immaculate throughout with many welcoming touches. Very friendly owner who was available for help if required. We would like to go back sometime!
Wonderfully peaceful area, beautiful views amazing accommodation.
Property was excellent. Views amazing. Great location for walking. We would definitely return.
The cottage was beautiful and the location truly excellent with easy access to Pennine Way and Hope Valley, short drive to Ladybower/Howden Dams. There were some lovely touches from the owners (fresh flowers when we arrived, milk and biscuits etc). Being part of a working farm the cottage is in the perfect environment for adults and children alike with sheep/lambs, cows/calves, cats, dog and swallows all resident. We even saw a calf being born. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, will go back and would recommend to friends.
Excellent property in lovely location, great views and genuine farmyard feel to it. Owners very friendly and helpful. Snowfall on Easter Sunday and baby calf being born whilst we were there, all made it a memorable and enjoyable holiday for our children.
The cottage is in the most amazing location. You can take walks straight from the front door. Inside the property was, in my opinion, one of the best presented holiday cottages I have ever stayed in. It had a lovely feel to the place that made you feel at home. I would highly recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a bit of peace and quiet but still wants a good base to tour the Peak District 10/10.
Stunning scenery,a good location for walking.
Will definitely go back there in the future. This was our first holiday in the Peak District and it was wonderful. The scenery is breath taking.
The property was of a very high standard in a wonderful location. Everything you could hope for in a holiday cottage was there and more besides. The owners were helpful, friendly and close to hand if you should need them. Wonderful and highly recommended!
The property was newly converted to a very high standard, in excess of the normal standard of a rental home. The decor and all equipment was very good and we felt very much at home. The cleanliness was first class too. The setting of Midfeather Cottage was stunning, with a huge variety of things to do in the area. We would certainly be happy to go back there again.
