Lets try and get this right and give an honest review. Both my wife and I and our big white German Shepherd arrived at 'The Larch' in the village of Weem the last week of July 2018. Parking was absolutely no problem and collecting the keys was made easy as per Mr Wagstaff's instructions. This is an up-side-down cottage with the bedroom on the lower floor with a large walk-in shower and loo next door. The linen and bedding were clean and fresh with 2 complete set of towels. There is the option to wash towels and clothing if required, so its up to you if you feel the need for more towels; what we had was ideal! Upstairs is the main living area with an area to eat at the table and a small kitchen, suitable for our purposes. This is not a luxury cottage but one that is used for the likes of walkers, anglers etc We enjoyed staying here. My only 'gripe' was not with the cottage but the local eating and drinking places nearby....they all allow dogs in somewhere in their pubs etc but they don't advertise the facts as 'Dog Friendly'.(Weem and Aberfeldy pubs etc take note) Anyway, we had a grand time staying at the lodge and would consider coming back as there is so much to do in the area....you might even see Ed Sheeran in the local pub if your lucky when he's up visiting his friend in Aberfeldy.
Two of us stayed for a week and used the cottage as a base to visit sights in the area. It's a lovely cottage with awell equipped kitchen and a comfy spacious bedroom. The shower room is large and has excellent water pressure. It makes a great base to explore the highlands and surrounding area. There are also attractions nearby, Dewers distillery and the Scottish Crannog Centre to name just two. Our only complaint was the smell, we knew the cottage was pet friendly but there was a strong smell of dog throughout the cottage. We had to keep the windows upstairs open constantly, luckily for us it was warm and this wasn't a major problem, but had it been winter and cold we would have needed the heating on and windows closed. This would have made the smell unbearable. I think the building needs a deep clean and a good airing to solve the problem. (I've been a dog owner all my life and I understand they smell, however I don't expect it in a holiday rental). The cottage was however clean and their were very few traces of pet hair. I'd recommend it as a place to stay but bring an air freshener.
The country cottage is adequate for two people. The bathroom is spacious and the water pressure very good, making the shower excellent. The bedroom is comfortable and there is little night-time traffic. The lounge/kitchen is spacious enough and the kitchen, although basic, serves its purpose. The house is warm and there is good radiator heating if required. The only place summer heating may be required is the bathroom underfloor, as this faces north. However, even if the thermostat is left at 40 degrees, it doesn't come on. It is pleasant on the front patio on a sunny day as it faces south. There is a lovely view from the east lounge window over the church to the steep, wooded hill.
It was a home from home. Very comfortable and relaxing, kitchen easy to use and all necessary facilities available. Views from all the windows were amazing. Loads of wildlife and easy parking. Highly recommended.
Larch Cottage was a delightful holiday cottage in lovely surroundings. It definitely benefited from being "upside-down."
Excellent cottage and a lovely location in Weem but close enough to walk into Aberfeldy. We would happily stay at Larch Cottage again.
Loved the Larch Cottage and location and we were lucky to have good weather. The cottage was near enough to walk in to Aberfeldy or 5 minutes in car if weather bad. We loved it would love to go again sometime lots of good walks nearby .
I had a wonderful week at Larch Cottage. Everything I needed was there, it was very well maintained and I had no problems with anything. All the information I could have needed was to hand. Thank you so much for a lovely stay, I hope to be back again soon.
Larch cottage was lovely, our stay was the ultimate relaxation.
We were staying in both Larch and Bugaboo cottages and we had a great stay. We had fun exploring the area, especially the local distillery.
This lovely wee house suited all our needs and had everything in it that we needed. We used it as a base and travelled around the area. We had a problem with TV to start with but after a phone call to Mr Wagstaff it was quickly resolved and all was good.
Excellent location for walking and as a base to get to other local areas. The accommodation was excellent and ideal for our needs.
We went away to have a quiet weekend a just have a relaxing walk about the surrounding areas and that's exactly what we got. We had a very nice time and will definitely be going back.
We really had a lovely time at Larch Cottage and in Aberfeldy. The bed and bedding was superb - we had a brilliant sleep each night! Really enjoyed ourselves and would love to come back.
A comfortable Cottage with easy access to local amenities. Plenty of space for parking.
Very nice property in good location.
Really nice view from the cottage. The local information provided was really good and we had a lovely time there. Would love to come back soon.
Ideal location for waking and sightseeing. Cosy, warm accommodation 500 yards from an excellent pub and restaurant. Washing/drying room very useful - perhaps could do with some more cooking dishes ie casserole dish or slow cooker
It was a very lovely little cottage. Had everything that we wanted to escape for the week with our puppy. We loved having the underfloor heating downstairs, and it was very easily heated upstairs. Beautiful scenery around and lovely walks from the cottage, plus some helpful leaflets for us to discover other walks a bit further afield. The upside down feature was quirky and different, overall we thoroughly enjoyed our stay.
This cottage was beautiful, even nicer than the pictures. Excellent location, well maintained, helpful information pack from owner. The owner was also nice enough to allow us to take two dogs. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend it.
Lovely wee cottage and would definitely go back!
The cottage is in a beautiful location with lovely walks and great golf nearby.
Our stay at Larch Cottage was every bit as good as we had hoped it would be, the cottage itself is quirky, with nice décor, very comfortable beds, luxurious fixtures and fittings, and very clean. The area is beautiful and there is lots to do. It is perfect for a relaxing break.
Very warm and comfortable living room to come back to after a long day out. Nice views and very peaceful. We loved the area, lots of walks and fabulous scenery.
A really good base for a short break, very accessible for lots of places in the Perth area. Good walks for all abilities.
