Swarland is a village between Morpeth and Alnwick, with a shop and post office. Swarland is close to the castle and garden at Alnwick, and is within easy reach of NT Cragside and Rothbury inland, or the castles and beaches of the Heritage coastline.
Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.
The accommodation is really high quality. Three good sized bedrooms, a kitchen, a living room and three bathrooms (all with good quality showers). The cottage is well heated and insulated and towels and bedding are also provided. The owners are really friendly, lovely people, and you will find coffee, tea, milk and wine left for you on arrival, just what you need after a long drive! The location is fantastic, peaceful and relaxing a great place to escape from the stress of work, yet just a short drive from the towns of Alnwick and Morpeth. The cottage is also just a short drive from many of Northumbria's glorious sandy beaches, ideal for a young family. This is our 5th or 6th stay at this place and we will definitely be booking again next year. I cannot recommend it highly enough.
We have just spent a most wonderful week here, the accommodation is Just lovely 3 very good sized bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. The living area is very spacious and comfortable and the kitchen has everything you would need. It has free WiFi and good phone reception. There is central heating which is very good as we did use it one night. It is set in the grounds of Swarland Old Hall and as there are only 2 it is quiet. The welcome pack us very nice 2 fresh loaves of bread, tea, milk, a lovely cake and bottle of wine which was very much appreciated. The area is beautiful and there is a lot to see. It is a working farm so there are animal's about but that never bothered us and the family that own and run this are very lovely people and just want you to enjoy your time there which we did
On arrival we called at the owners home opposite and was warmly welcomed by the owner Mrs Proctor. The lodge was immaculate and beautifully furnished. There was a welcoming bottle of wine, biscuits, milk and bread. The grounds surrounding the lodge were also well kept and there was a play area for younger children with swings and slides. The views from the lodge were spectacular looking over the surrounding farmland, you feel as if you are in the middle of nowhere. However there is easy access to the main A1 which will take you to many of the attractions in the area. Amongst the best holiday homes I've stayed in in the last 20 years.
Lime Tree Lodge was a delightful, clean, warm and comfortable two-storey cottage with 3 spacious bedrooms - an ideal base for our family holiday. The owner was lovely and very friendly, and we had absolutely no complaints at all - we would strongly recommend it.
We found the property to be relaxing and in a fantastic location. The holiday was also good, lots to do, we actually needed longer than a week to fit everything in. Will definately return.
