Location Details

Set amidst open fields and winding hedgerows, the North Cornwall village of St Newlyn East offers a peaceful and relaxing alternative to the bustling, vibrant town of Newquay - situated under five miles away. The perfect starting point for a number of walks through picturesque countryside, this lovely town is centrally located for a variety of excellent attractions including many stately homes and gardens, model railways, theme parks, fishing villages and harbours - not to mention some of the UK's best surfing beaches. For a livelier nightlife, visitors will enjoy the various clubs and pubs in nearby Newquay, though also of interest in the town are the impressive Zoo and Sea Life Centre. Also within easy driving distance is the cathedral city of Truro and the magnificent Eden Project.

Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.

Reviews

Fantastic place to stay. Spotlessly clean and all amenities that you could require. The staff at Lappa Valley were amazing and made us really welcome. After the park closes it is so peaceful and was great for our dog to run around safely. We will definately stay again.

The surprisingly spacious and well fitted out flat is above the ticket office of The Lappa Valley Steam Railway. It was fun having breakfast and viewing small steam trains from the window. There are 2 good sized bedrooms and the open plan kitchen, diner, lounge is L-shaped and roomy with 2 comfortable sofas. The wi-fi is good and reliable though the phone signal is virtually non existent. The setting is great and the peace and quiet in the evening is blissful. Also there is no light pollution giving good views of the night sky on a clear night. We found all locations we wanted easily and did not find the narrow lanes any problem at all. Also you have your own designated parking space. Included in the rental is free usage of all the attractions railways(3 of them) and other facilities which are mainly child oriented. Also it is dog friendly. A great place to stay.

The station flat was lovely. We had everything there that we needed. Ideal location to go to many other places in Cornwall with a couple of really nice pubs to go to of an evening which are a short journey away.

An awesome property which was exceptionally well maintained and equipped. The setting is fantastic and we could not have wished for more.

This was a last minute (no, really!) booking. Having been let down by where we were meant to stay for a week, we were really lucky to find somewhere so close and so comfortable. The Station flat is well equipped, tastefully furnished and decorated in a light, modern style. It's isolated, rural location could be described as idyllic (with pond, cute wildlife, shady trees, grassy areas). However, the narrow, winding 3 mile journey from the main road can seem a lot further in the dark and the lack of street lights - or any lights to guide you from the car park to the building in fact - is a little spooky until you get in range of the floodlights' sensors. Once inside, though, it's cosy, with plenty of lights! If you look outside after dark, that is all you see! Darkness and nothing else - weird! The flat is within the grounds of The Lappa Valley Railway, to which you have complimentary use of all the (mostly child orientated) facilities. So, great if you have little ones. The park closes at 4:15, so you aren't disturbed by noise or people after that. If it was our property, we'd have a more secure lock on the front door, especially with the isolated location, and lack of street lights. I'm also glad I took my coffee maker. The other (only slightly) minus points are no milk jug, lack of serving dishes, a few small cobwebs and a bit of mould in the shower. The cold water pipes get noisy in the morning too, but that was quite quirky. We were very satisfied, even with the mix up over when we had to be out, and the lack of phone signal.

We loved our holiday at Lappa, the site and facilities were fantastic. We intended to use it as a base but the boys loved the site so much they did not want to leave.

The staff at Lappa Valley were fantastic. Extra touches like the plastic crockery for my 3 yr old to use. Having play equipment just outside the flat. Beautiful scenery in a quiet area.

Clean warm and very peaceful quite remote but lots of walks, staff very helpful, a long walk up the hill to the village but shops and pub very good, making the walk back down the hill less noticeable,

Lovely flat all modern and new. Everything inside you could need for a very comfortable holiday, whatever the weather. One week was not enough!

I have left a review for this fantastic place previously, but it seems to have disappeared! So - I booked the station flat with my partner in mind as he is a life-long steam enthusiast. I thought it looked a quirky place to stay. We did not realise how wonderful an experience our stay would be. The flat or apartment above the ticket office was wonderful in every way. It had only recently been made into a holiday let, and everything was new. It was spacious and our welcome pack was very well thought out, including fresh flowers on the dining table :-) David and staff were very welcoming. It was nice chatting to the drivers of the miniature railway too. We enjoyed our rides on the trains and tucked into delicious food at the Whistle Stop café. The Cornish pasties were very more-some! There was a great atmosphere around the place and you can tell how much everyone loves working there and how much they want the flat to be a success, which it is already. We had arrived on a Friday, and had asked if my grown up son and his girlfriend could come and stay with us over the weekend. This was no problem. When they arrived, they also loved it immediately just as we did. We had lots of nice trips out, but it was always great to come "home". We don't have anything negative to say about the place at all - we just didn't want to leave! We just hope that everyone who uses the flat takes good care of it, it would be a shame to tarnish this jewel :)

Staff were really nice & helpful.Very clean & tidy flat which alot bigger than we thought it would be. Being able to watch put of the window at the engine drivers stoking up the steam engines in the morning was great for my 5 year old boy.

We had the best holiday in this lovely apartment in St Newlyn East. This is the perfect place for families with young children as you have full use of the park facilities. Our son loved watching the trains getting ready every morning. The apartment is fantastic with everything you need in there. It's in a lovely part of the country, very quiet, wonderful views and is very spacious. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Very central to a lot of other places in Cornwall that are great to visit. Our son can't wait until his next visit there.

Everything about our holiday was absolutely first class. We were made to feel very welcome by David and staff, and we were astounded by the comfort and cleanliness of the flat - it was virtually brand new! There was even a vase of fresh flowers on the table. The Railway really have done a fantastic job in providing a thoroughly enjoyable place to stay. This was our first stay in Cornwall and we are really looking forward to going back to The Station Flat
