From heather-clad moors and limestone scars, to market towns and the steady pace of country life - the sublimeDales await you! Where else in Britain is it as satisfying to sit and do nothing as it is to explore the numerous pursuits on offer?
Blacksmith Cottage was nicely furnished and the bottle of wine waiting for us on arrival was a friendly touch. Its location next to the fish and chip shop and a few yards from the centre of the village was ideal. The bed was comfortable and the accommodation was very quiet - the chip shop is only open 4 or 5 days a week and closes by 7 at the latest. There was no-one in the upstairs rental so I don't know whether you might be disturbed by people walking around overhead. The owners had left basic essentials, e.g. washing powder, kitchen roll, toilet roll, plasters (v. useful one evening). The only downside was that it was a bit cramped. The bed took up a lot of the living/bedroom and if one partner gets up a lot earlier than the other, there isn't anywhere very comfortable to sit and read the paper etc.
We found that the cottage beautifully kitted out and very comfortable in every way. The bed in particular was wonderfully comfortable.
Had a really wonderful week in this quaint cottage. I was very impressed by the quality of the interior, it was tastefully decorated with nice period furnishings. I felt completely at home as soon as I arrived. The whole place was clean and fresh. The owner has paid great attention to detail and it pays off marvelously. The bottle of wine is a lovely touch and reinforces the owners' desire to ensure you have a good time. The cottage is well placed for the town's amenities as it is just off the main square. There are three nice pub/restaurants within a hundred yards and a few yards further on there is a convenience store and a newsagent as well as gift shops etc. This was my first cottage holiday and it is going to be very difficult to better the experience - Thank you
An excellent cottage in a great location!
A home from home in a great location. Grassington is a lovely village with enough shops, pubs & cafes, some good walks and friendly locals. Blacksmith Cottage is central and has all the facilities needed for a stay here - well equipped kitchen and huge bed with a small, enclosed patio, which is very handy if you have a hound with you.
In a very central position in Grassington. The studio is small and very well equipped, although may have too much furniture and unnecessary ornaments. The bathroom was a little chilly. On arrival, the remote control for TV was missing. We contacted the owner who suggested we look under the be bed! She contacted us later to say the previous tenant had taken it home with her. No replacement was offered. As we were only there for 3 nights it never appeared.
This was a very comfortable studio in an excellent location. It was well furnished and extremely well equipped. The owners supplied more than one would expect. I would highly recommend. Snow lay on the ground for our week there and it was always warm and cosy.
This is an absolutely delightful studio set right in the heart of Grassington. I booked it as a Christmas present for my husband and we both had a great time. We stayed there in a week when the temperatures were below zero and snow lay on the ground. It was very comfortable and cosy. There is one room with a large bed and a couple of sofas and chairs. The kitchen and dining table are around the corner. It is extremely well stocked. All the usuals but also books, DVDs, guides as well as tea and coffee. Even a bottle of wine!! The location is ideal. At that time of year we were able to park the car in the square. Within a few yards were three pubs, a hotel with restaurant, an indian take-away and a fish and chip shop. We ate at all of them!! We also bought cakes from the cafe opposite the cottage. They were all good. We also visited the Old Hall Inn at Threshfield (perfect for fish and chips) and had the tasting menu at The Angel at Hetton. Lovely flat in a great village. Would highly recommend.
The cottage was really cosy, warm and very welcoming. We really enjoyed our stay.
Location is great for walking and amenities. The cottage is warm and very comfortable.
This was a lovely, cosy cottage in a great location with plenty of shops and hotels in the village. Plenty of walking on the doorstep and further afield. The wifi signal was excellent too.
We stayed in this little cottage in Aug/Sept 2014 and found it to be very charming and well equipped. The location is fabulous for lots of walking in the Yorkshire Dales and Grassington is a lovely place to be based as it is a lovely friendly village. There are three hotels that allow dogs and the food is acceptable pub food. If there was one downside, I would struggle to find one but it would be that it is a studio and quite small. However, the layout is very well done and there is a huge bed.
We live relatively close by and as I work from home wanted to relax and be away from my working/home environment. Staying at blacksmith cottage made me think why do we need big houses and lots of clutter that we never use. It was compact, very well equipped, extremely clean and we were welcomed by a lovely bottle of wine. The weather was kind to us and we did what we planned to do...absolutely nothing. It was wonderful and I would highly recommend a stay here. Perhaps next time we will try lotties loft upstairs!
Everything was as it said it was on the website. It was very clean and had plenty of everything, very pleased and would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.
Everything was great, it was our second time at this cottage. We will be back.
The location of the cottage is excellent , very cosy cottage, We went on some great walks around grassington and to come back and relax in evening was wonderfull. huge very compy bed as well, lovely village, if you don't want to cook, plenty of places to eat out. .loved it that much already booked another weeks stay. what more can I say...
We loved the location of Blacksmiths Cottage near the centre of Grassington, a lovely Dales Village. There were plenty of facilities, pubs, restaurants and shops to make our stay enjoyable. We are keen walkers, and despite the bad weather on most days we were able to take 3 to 4 hour walks directly from the cottage. Altogether a memorable and enjoyable stay.
Beautiful welcoming cottage with relaxing feel excellently decorated for the festive season excellent access to local amenities and public transport. This holiday fully met our needs and expectations.
First time attended the Dickensian Weekend and it certainly come up to expectation. The cottage we stayed was absolutely brilliant. It was, what my wife & I have been looking to buy for many years.
Lovely comfortable cottage. Excellent location in Grassington. Great walks. Everything was really nice.
Easy to book, wonderful cottage and a very relaxing holiday. Would recommend it to friends.
We chose this rental on the basis of the favourable reviews, and expected slightly better than we got. It was fine in terms of size, and very convenient for the village. But there were too many things not working or in need of repair - we called the owner who retuned the TV for us and replaced the five light bulbs that were not working. But the radio was hopeless, there was broken shelf in the fridge and the fitted sheets didn't fit the bed. So it would benefit from a bit of a health check and improvement before the season really gets going.
Lovely cosy cottage and very central for all the village amenities. The Christmas decorations, Christmas cake and bottle of wine were a nice touch. Perfect for a weekend break.
We liked the attention to detail and arriving at a very warm cottage on a very cold winters day. The wine and home made Christmas cake was a nice touch.
Beautiful cottage, ideal location and cosy. Overall, thoroughly enjoyable holiday and we would recommend.
The cottage is perfect for a walking holiday, perfectly situated for pubs and restaurants, very cosy would definitely go back.
Great, well equipped cottage in a good location.
Very clean. Very pretty decor and furnishings. Well stocked kitchen. Heating very efficient. The most comfortable bed I've ever slept in! Beautiful location with lovely shops and food available very close by.
A great area for walking.
Our second visit to Blacksmith cottage - as a couple it served our needs, it was quaint, well presented and the area was a good base.
The cottage is situated in a very convenient place, the interior was very clean and had all the necessary facilities - the kitchen in particular was very well appointed. Grassington is a lovely town to stay in and a very welcoming place.
This studio apartment is compact, very clean but with too much space taken up by furniture and knick knacks. However the kitchen was very well equipped and stocked and the bed huge and comfortable and the bathroom clean and well presented. The sitting out area was very disappointing, full of weeds and garden furniture dirty and unusable which was a shame as we were there for one of the rare warm dry spells. It is ideally situated for the village and for walking the dales. Parking to unload and load vehicle can be difficult.
A quality studio let, with lots of little extras. A very comfortable cottage, lovely super king-size bed, tastefully furnished and decorated. A very enjoyable break in a lovely village. We parked the car and were able to leave it until the end of our break. Great walking country and good pubs in the village.
It was in a good spot in grassington really nice and homely everything in it you could need only downfall was very noisey people above us but you cant help that
Being near to the square and shops, and the ground floor accommodation was wonderful. We will be coming back - we had a fabulous holiday and everyone was so friendly.
The location was excellent and Grassington is a beautiful place. Very dog friendly and a good choice of eating establishments.
We loved the internal décor of the property. Grassington is a beautifully quaint little village with cobbled streets and loads of lazy amenities like a chippy, an Indian take away plus of course a few pubs.
The cottage was beautifully furnished and had everything we needed for a relaxing weekend break. The location cannot be faulted as you are only a few steps away from the village square with it's many shops, pubs and restaurants - we would definitely recommend the cottage
Beautiful studio cottage in prime location, very well designed layout and tasteful decoration. We couldn't find any faults whatsoever and had a most enjoyable weekend.
My husband and I went for his 60th birthday (our dog also came)...we went dec/jan and the xmas tree was a lovely touch... we enjoyed every minute... cosy..well equipped..comfortable and very clean.. situated right in the middle of the village...we will certainly be back...
Being able to take our dog away with us. It was lovely that he was allowed in all the pubs so we could have some meals out.
Good standard for a studio; cosy and clean. 'Devonshire Hotel' great for food, lovely cafes. 'Grassington Hotel' good for drink and excellent meals.
The cottage is very pretty, comfortable and well equipped. The location is excellent and there are lots of places to visit with excellent walks nearby.
Great cottage! Absolutely amazing! High standard on everything. We were super pleased!
Convenience of location in centre of Grassington. The cottage, although small, was very well equipped and clean.
Excellent furnishings and decor - great attention to detail; very tasteful. Good location and simple short walk to several good pubs for an evening meal. Wonderful countryside for hikers and dogs!
Excellent walking and fantastic 'dog-friendly' pubs which serve delicious food.
The Christmas decorations were a nice touch.
The cottage was very cosy and in a great location.
Fantastic instructions re arrival. The cottage was a large studio with en suite, but very cosy and sweet. We used it as a base for our walking holiday, but it was lovely to come back to in the evening. The cottage is in the centre of Grassington and ideally placed to stroll home from one of the many pubs and restaurants. Grassington also has a small supermarket, bakers (great first thing in the morning to stock up with drinks and sandwiches before our walk) and numerous delightful gift shops. The only slight problem was that the cottage was on a narrow hill and it was very difficult to get the car down. As there was no parking, the car had to be parked elsewhere and you had to walk to the cottage. I could see this would be a problem to anyone who had difficulty in walking too far. Overall an excellent place to stay and very dog friendly.
All drinking mugs were chipped or cracked & base sheet on bed was soiled I had to wash it & put back on bed but other than that the place is in a lovely position & the local people were great
No problem to find the key. The home has been furnitured with much love for the detail. Well equipped. The backyard would probably have looked friendlier if the weather had been better. The landscape around is great, especially the Dales. Ideal start for traveling, walking, sightseeing. We enjoyed our visit to very much.
A little bit of heaven in a bigger bit of heaven.
Well-equipped. As walkers, we found Grassington well placed for a week of excellent walking.
Lovely, well equipped accommodation. Grassington was a great village and a good base for exploring Yorkshire. Fantastic walks, places to go and great places to eat.
Grassington is a beautiful little town. The property was very well equipped and the interior is of a very high standard. Would recommend it to anyone.
This property is in a lovely location with plenty of amenities within the village
The cottage was very well appointed and clean.
Grassington was a good base for touring around the Dales, the property was extremely comfortable and tastefully furnished. It was a very dog friendly area, and we were able to take the dog in many places with us.
The cottage was very nice and just what we wanted from a cottage in the Dales. It was perfect for a couple.
The location - in the centre of a lovely village with enough eateries so that we didn't have to make a car journey in order to eat out. The bed was also very comfortable.
Excellent property with such a good central location. Will be returning. Fantastic walks on your door step, no need to move the car.
Great location, just busy enough to be handy and not too busy to be a nuisance.
Excellent location, well appointed.
Very nice cottage, lovely and cosy. Good location. It was wonderful. Will book again
Clearly a great location, close to village centre, and a great plus having a BBQ grill out back. The bed is very comfortable and just fits the bill after a day's walking/cycling. A cosy and memorable stay.
Good location, convenient for local facilities. Able to go on walks without taking car. Cottage compact with all the facilities we needed.
