Location Details

Situated beside one of the most beautiful stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline, this attractive and peaceful harbour village is a well-placed spot for anyone looking to enjoy a traditional seaside holiday. Once an important Saxon fishing village and later a haven for smugglers, Beadnell is somewhat more tranquil these days and is popular amongst holiday makers for its sandy beaches, village shop and pubs, which serve food. With another renowned village nearby – Seahouses – the range of local amenities increases to include a supermarket and various restaurants as well as boat trips from the harbour to the magnificent Farne Islands. These small outcrops are famed amongst bird watchers for their wealth of species. However, if you're looking for a more urban environment Bamburgh is close by, as is the market town of Alnwick.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Our 4th visit to this property so we must like it.near the lovely long clean beautiful beadnell beach.not too far from the local shop ,pub, cafe and church.house is modern build on a housing estate almost all of which are holiday homes.property is modern clean and big enough for a family stay or like us with two big dogs.all mod cons except no radio and WiFi on and off at a whim but apart from that super we will be back again as it feels like home from home.fully dog proof garden great!!!

Bar Harbour was lovely, it is in close walking distance of the beach and it was great that we could take the dogs with us. The furniture throughout the house is comfortable and of good quality. The owner was really friendly on the phone and nothing was too much trouble. We'd definitely book again.

This cottage is in a great location for the beautiful sandy beach. Our dog thoroughly enjoyed herself. The garden is lovely and secure and there is everything you need in the kitchen. The garage came in very useful to dry coats and outdoor wear after getting wet, through walking the dog. We had a lovely peaceful holiday and we would definitely recommend and would like to return.

The property was the best we have ever rented during 25 years of staying in self-catering accommodation. The property and facilities were first class, and the standard of cleaning was very high. We have already booked a longer stay for next year.

We were so close to the beaches. Our 5 children spent hours swimming, boogie boarding, building sand castles and making dams. We had a trip to the Farnes and the puffins guillemots and kittiwakes were still nesting which fascinated us all. We also went on a fishing trip from Seahouses and the children caught lots of mackerel. We were so lucky with the weather. Sunshine, sea and sand. It was a perfect family holiday.

Rated by Mrs Forsyth reviewed on 16th July 2013

The house was lovely and clean and modern. On a very quiet estate, and very close to the beach. It really was a home from home, we were delighted with it, in fact it was the best one we have stayed in. We would recommend it to anyone.

Very comfortable house and very quiet and peaceful location. Ideal place to tour round Northumberland.

Rated by Miss Bentham reviewed on 28th May 2013

The house was clean and well appointed the beds were comfy, kitchen had all we could ask for including a most welcome dishwasher. In short we got what it said on the tin. If you take the family dog with you tire it out with a run on the beach and the rest of the day is your own.

We stayed over the Christmas holidays, 5 of us aged from 89 to 21 and 2 dogs. The house is very dog friendly, great enclosed garden. It was very peaceful and easy to get to the beach which was fantastic for walking the dogs. The house had been decorated for Christmas which was lovely touch. It was perfect for our needs, nice and warm, on a quiet (very!) estate. The only problem we encountered was the lack of utensils in the kitchen and as it was Christmas and we were going to be cooking a lot, this meant we had to go out and buy things. We had to buy a chopping board and oven gloves, and there was no scales or measuring jug. Hope it doesn't sound petty but it was a long way to the shop at alnwick! But all in all, I would recommend this house for it's great location, size and comfort.

Rated by Mrs Spink reviewed on 7th October 2012

Nice big house and dog proof garden which was great for our two medium sized dogs. Close to beautiful Beadnell beach and Caster Arms hotel which did good food and allowed dogs into the pub.

Rated by Mr Davies reviewed on 17th September 2012

Had a fantstic holiday, bar harbour was brilliant for our extended family and dogs. Plenty of room of everone. The only downside was the bathroom - with 4 bedrooms there really should be a shower over the bath rather than just the en-suit shower. Nobody wanted the bath but everyone wanted to use the shower !!! The area around Beadnell is fantastic - Son and Partner really enjoyed it first time for both in this area after travelling all the way from australia for an extended holiday in UK Would definately book again

The property is well situated and close to the beach. Lovely cottage and would stay again next year. We like to stay in Beadnell at least once a year as we like it so much. It's not too commercial and is quiet even during the children's holidays. Good food in hotels and pubs nearby.

Lovely house (this is our 3rd visit to it!) in an amazing position close to the one of the most gorgeous beaches in the UK. The house has all that you need and the washing machine and tumble dryer just make life so easy with 3 children. Windbreaks in the garage were really welcome and well used!

We love Beadnell and the house was clean, well furnished and ideally placed to the beach. We have already booked to revisit in July. Thank you.

Rated by Ms Shaw reviewed on 21st March 2011

The house is in a very convenient location near the beach and harbour, although on a rather anonymous small, modern housing development. Beadnell is well-located on the Northumberland coast.

Rated by Mr Robinson reviewed on 11th January 2011

Great property in a very good location. The house was well maintained and warm. The beach was a short walk which the dogs and I both enjoyed.

Rated by Mr Hyde reviewed on 8th November 2010

This house has clearly not been lived in by an owner. There are several small but annoying items that would be changed if you had actually owned and lived in the property. ie No toilet roll holder, no kitchen blinds, no bathroom blind, the DVD recorder/player did not have an ariel connection and so could not record. However, the overall level of equipment is superb. The position is a little out of the village, but very close to the enormous beach - superb for the dog - she loved it as we did.

Rated by Bob Davies reviewed on 4th November 2010

The property was ideal for people with dogs, as the garden was, as stated fully enclosed. Very close to the beach. Nice quiet garden to sit if required. Could find no fault with the property at all

Rated by Mrs Holt reviewed on 28th June 2010

Very warm welcome. Friendly locals. Perfect enclosed garden for children.

Rated by Mr Simpson reviewed on 28th June 2010

Location, location, location!

Rated by Mr Gordon reviewed on 22nd June 2010

We loved that the house was so close to the beach and it was a nice and peaceful location. The house was really nice and homely.

Rated by Mrs Johnson reviewed on 18th May 2010

Booking was easy as was selection from the website. The house was comfortable and userfriendly. It was clean and the beds comfortable with clean bedding and towels provided each week although with a washing machine and tumble dryer it was easy to do your own. The beach was a stones throw away and what a beach, it stretched for miles and was super clean. Shopping in the village was a bit restricted but Seahouses was onlt a short distance away and had all the shops necessary. It could be a bit lonely on the estate where the house is situated as most houses are rental or weekend occupation only but we liked this aspect for the peace and quiet and the view from the lounge could be better, a caravan park would not be to everyones taste.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 14th May 2010

THe house was lovely, clean modern with all facilities needed to make a lovely holiday.....that is when we managed to find it. Thehow to get there instructions were misleading and yjere is noe street sign as you approach the road. We had to ask where it was. Suggest you check directions with owner and perhaps consider enclosing a simple map.
