The small village of Billingsley is surrounded by beautiful Shropshire countryside and is just seven miles from Bridgnorth. In addition to lots of walking and cycling facilities, the region boasts a wealth of country parks, great houses, museums and picturesque villages. Visitors can enjoy a trip to the nearby town of Bridgnorth - winner of ‘Britain in Bloom' - which is composed of the High Town and the Low Town connected by winding streets and flights of steps. The town's Saturday street market provides an excellent chance to explore the impressive castle ruins or to take a ride on the funicular railway. The Byre is the best holiday let I have stayed in: clean and comfortable, with a high standard of furniture and decor. The owner was very helpful. The immediate area has a lot lanes and footpaths to explore and the Severn Valley Railway is close by.

This cottage is comfortable in lovely quiet location. Good base for exploring the area. The hosts are helpful and friendly. We would stay here again.

Beautiful holiday cottage, set in the beautiful and serenely quiet Shropshire countryside! The cottage itself was just stunning, couldn't fault it!

A very good property, close to many places of tourist interest and beautiful countryside. Though based on a working farm with other holiday rentals it was still private, quiet and restful.

Rated by Mr Taggart reviewed on 13th June 2015

A fantastic, rural location. A great base with stunning views and great walks! It was a comfy and cosy cottage, and has everything you need. The list goes on!

The Byre was very comfortable in all respects and lacked for nothing. The countryside round about us was wonderful, and we enjoyed our week getting to know a lot more about Shropshire.

Quiet and peaceful location, perfect for anyone looking to escape from the chaos of everyday life. The Byre is a very clean, cosy and delightful cottage. It was the ideal retreat for me, and provided much needed time to myself. Lots of fresh air and good walking opportunities. The owners of the property are very welcoming, kind and hospitable. I am looking forward to another stay next year.

Our second visit to this super little cottage. Ideal for the Severn Valley Railway. Very comfortable and well equipped. We were snowed in for two days but we were very warm and cosy thanks to the excellent central heating. We will definitely be back again!

Beautiful remote location on a farm without the usual smells !!! A converted old barn ---with all the amenities. Nice private outside sitting area. Only problem was no Wifi !!! I feel it is very much needed to look up local activities, weather etc so you can plan your days out.

Everything was available that we needed. It was more of a home than temporary accommodation. The location was perfect for accessing the sites we wished to visit.

Rated by Mrs Power reviewed on 26th July 2012

The property is in a quiet location and is tastefully furnished with sunny and bright rooms. The Byre ticked all the important boxes for me - it was very pleasant throughout.

Rated by Mrs Espelage reviewed on 24th July 2012

This is a first class rental for two people. Extremely comfortable (wonderful sheets on the bed, duck down pillows) and very classy. Everything was good quality. We've stayed in many rental cottages and all too often you get the owner's 'cast offs' - not here! Clean, tastefully decorated, warm and cosy we found it was a great base to visit the Severn Valley Railway Gala. We can't comment on the walking etc as the SVR was our reason for visiting, but the countryside looked glorious. We will certainly visit again - for the next gala we come to.

I loved the cosiness of the property! It has warmth and character!

Rated by Miss Newman reviewed on 1st January 2012

The owners were nice and friendly and very helpful if you wanted to know anything about the surrounding areas and where to do sightseeing and places of interest to visit. The only drawback is that there was no shops nearby if you wanted to buy a newspaper or run out of milk or bread. Bridgenorth is the nearest town and it has some nice shops and tearooms.

Quiet and peaceful if you want a rest. Owners are friendly and helpful if you need anything. Plenty of places to visit near by. Nice villages in surrounding areas.

This was our first stay with Sykes Cottages but we will use them again. We loved the property - it is a great conversion, very well equipped and comfortable. It is small but was absolutely fine for two people. The location is very quiet and relaxing - you need a car but you are then perfectly located to explore the area - and there is plenty to see - wildlife, historic sites and towns, walks, cycle rides. We thoroughly enjoyed our week.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 5th November 2010

It was very peaceful and I felt very safe as a single woman alone. Good location for walking but also only 10 mins to Bridgnorth, a very pretty town and 25 mins from Telford with good shopping and cinema etc.

The Byre, located on the owner's farm enjoys both privacy and seclusion. We stayed over for New Year during a spell of very cold weather but the accommodation was very cosy and warm. We had taken an electric fan heater as a precaution but we didn't need it. The standard of accommodation is excellent we were made very welcome by the owners. Would definitely recommend and may return one day.
