Spent a long weekend with my 2 adult daughters, 2yr old grandson and our miniature dachshund Sidney. The location was perfect, overlooking a sheltered bay, small beach and promenade. My grandson loved having his breakfast sitting at the window watching the boats coming and going. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable though could do with a little updating eg extremely noisy/ squeaky floorboards, a better dog friendly fireside rug ( the existing one is large and colourful but difficult to hoover) back garden looking very tired but a great space. We enjoyed using the log burner and it helped that the owner provided us with a start up pack of logs and kindle. He also left us a much appreciated welcome pack and very kindly informed us about a nearby kiddies park which we visited. We were made to feel very welcome. Parking is directly outside the front door which was great and Amble has lots of lovely walks and places of interest to see. It is also a great base for exploring further afield.

Just got back from a week in Amble. The cottage was easy to find and when in found to be really clean and tidy. The welcome was exactly that welcome. Used as a base to visit all the castles and history surrounding Northumberland. Spent many an happy hour at the breakfast bar watching life go by also on the hottest day ever watching the kids swimming in the bay. One fault we found were the creaky floorboards in the bathroom but didn’t take away the ambience of the place. Surrounded by lovely restaurants but highly recommend Harbour Inn but booking is a must

Excellent views of the bay from the front window which has a breakfast bar - we spent hours sitting there watching the sea and people going by on the green. Wonderful local shopping centre a few minutes walk away in the main street. Lovely market in the harbour only 200 meters away on a Sunday. The house has all you can need and there was even a lovely welcome hamper. This was our second visit and we'll make a third sometime.

Superb location overlooking the harbour with a beautiful beaches just steps away. This dog friendly house had everything we needed and was extremely comfortable and homely. Much time was spent admiring the view and watching the world go by from the breakfast bar. The welcome hamper was a lovely surprise and most welcome :). Short walks to great restaurants (check out the bistro in Queen street), a fantastic ice-cream parlour and traditional fish and chips. Sunday Market a must especially the fresh fish! A great place to stay if you want to just chill out or to use as a base for exploring the North East. An amazing week, we will be back !!

After a four hour drive in the rain we arrived to a lovely cottage overlooking the estuary , pier and sea . Inside the cottage was a welcome pack of bread, wine , tea, coffee biscuits and milk also a bag of logs and lighters to get you started. Such a cosy house well equipped in the kitchen and towels alike. Very squeaky floor boards and stairs but no doubt the age of the house it's to be expected. Visited the boat house for lunch - amazing food . Also Sunday Amble always has a market great for fruit veg seafood meat etc. Spurellis cafe/icecream is highly recommended. All the shops etc you can easily walk to if you don't fancy driving. Saw some amazing tide changes over the week with wonderful weather for the time of year. Plenty sand on the beach at low tide , a dog lovers paradise as it seems the area to walk the dogs. Locals all seem very friendly and we were given all the help and advice from the owners prior to our arrival. Would love to return sometime in the future.

We stayed over Christmas 2015. The cottage is warm, mid December and we never got around to lighting the fire, it has its own wifi, and a great view onto the bay area, and you can just sit at the breakfast bar and watch the world go by. There is an enclosed garden, so if you have a dog, they won't be able to get out, the beds were comfortable and clean, there was plenty of hot water, and it does look just like it does in the pictures! The upstairs floors do creak, but soundproofing with the adjoining cottages is very good - so if you walk around in the night you might wake up other people in your house but not in anybody else's. A family of about 10 stayed next door when we were there and we didn't hear a peep from them and the street was really quiet. The owners were very helpful, and left a welcome basket which included a bottle of red and a little selection of Stollen, which lasted a good 5 minutes. The cottage has lots of model ships as part of the decor - and it looks like they've taken care to make it feel like a home. There are also loads of DVDs and books to read, and there were also children's games in one of the bedrooms. There are all sorts of places to walk dogs in the area, virtually all of them well away from roads, and there's a marina and the main street, Queen Street, which has lots of small retailers. Amble is not the most picturesque seaside town I've been to, but it has a lot to recommend it in terms of places to eat, and things to do, there are at least two fish and chip shops, and a co-op just down the road from the cottage which seems to open exceptionally long hours, and a boutique icecream parlour called Spurreli's which is worth a visit. It really is a dog friendly place - our two are quite hyper and yet they were greeted with smiles by virtually everybody we met, people were extremely friendly generally, only one person didn't say 'hello' back the whole time we were there, and the Old Boat House serves the most amazing sea food. The kitchen has everything you would need, the oven is fairly simple but it works fine, good selection of pans and it's quite well stocked with the basics. There are no horror stories with this place - it is exactly as described. We had a lovely time there. Also - the booking service, Sykes Cottages - their opening hours were until 9.30pm, we rang them at 9.25pm, very apologetic at being so late, they were very friendly, took the trouble to check with the owners about whether two dogs would be acceptable, while we were on hold, and the follow up was also good - sending through instructions and confirmation by email, how to get there, and other useful bits of information.

This is a fabulous little house to use as a base in Northumberland. It was warm and had very good facilities. I particularly liked sitting at the breakfast bar and watching everyone walking on the pier. Bamburgh is a 40 minute drive but the great beaches of Alnmouth, Walkworth and Druridge Bay are only minutes away. Amble had a great pier walk and its own beaches if you want to stay at home. Loved it!

2 BayView was all we wanted in our holiday cottage, not only was it very clean but had everything we needed to make our stay very relaxing . We were left a very welcome package of milk, bread ,eggs ,tea&coffe plus a bottle of wine , enough to start the week off and very useful after our long drive to Amble . The view from the breakfast bar come drinks bar was great and the sunset was straight out in front of the window , just prefect . Also shops were just a couple of minutes walk away and Amble harbour with it's new retail again just 5 minutes walk . Overall we really enjoyed our stay at Bay View .

What a fabulous little cottage, as with all the other comments, it was a real home from home. It was very well equipped, the location is amazing and what a lovely town Amble is. The people are very friendly as well. We made very good use of the log burner and spent ages watching the world go by looking out of the window straight on to the bay. An excellent location for amazing restaurants, pubs and local shops. The main town is about ten minutes walk away. This was our first visit to Northumberland and definitely will not be our last.

What a gem, cottage is very homely, very well equipped and situated in a idyllic spot over looking the bay. There is a log burner which came in very handy for evenings with a glass or two after long walks on the numerous beaches. Great restaurants and pubs within walking distance, people very friendly - we don't have a dog , but the cottage is suitable if you do, the area is great for dog walks and all the pubs are dog friendly. Good location for visiting the East Coast, Holy Island, Hadrians Wall and the Kielder Forest, we had booked for a stargazing night at Kielder but due to the weather - no stars !! Great help from the owners Jacqinta & Tim. Many Thanks for a very enjoyable few days R & R.

Stayed 4 nights in this accomodation, and it's location cannot be beaten. The cottage is well presented, clean and welcoming. Would benefit from having a couple of armchairs and coffee tables, 2x 2 seater settees were adequate for a couple, but would have felt cramped if 4 adults were sharing the accomodation. Nevertheless would certainly recommend to anyone wanting a short breakaway at a competitive price, in a friendly. picturesque small fishing town with good transport links and interesting history.

The owners are such friendly people that they alone made the booking and stay enjoyable - from the friendly tips on calling to arrange the key collection, the wonderful welcoming hamper (with home produced eggs) to the phone call when we arrived home to check all was well. The cottage itself is in a great place with the beach only 50m away, much to the extreme pleasure of our little dog, who couldn't get enough of it. Shops are about 200m away and a bit further for two pubs and a couple of takeaways. And then there is the Sunday market on the quayside, again only a couple of hundred metres away. The locality is all you expect from Northumberland with long sandy beaches and castles at every headland. Hope to go back again... need I say any more!

A fab cottage with a homely feel. A perfect base for discovering Northumberland! We spoke on the phone to the owner Tim who was friendly & helpful, he advised of some great places locally. A Lovely welcome hamper was waiting in the cottage! Everything was clean, fresh and comfortable. It really did feel like a 'home from home' especially with the wifi access, washer/dryer and great central heating system. The location is perfect, overlooking the bay & pier. Great for people watching too! Idea for dogs as the beach is less than a minute walk away and all the dog walkers we met were friendly & chatty. When it went dark all the rabbits came out and were hopping about on the pavement outside! The back garden is a bird magnet with feeding tables etc, we enjoyed keeping them well fed for the week. The website photos don't do it justice at all, I'd recommend updating them. Three of us stayed here, myself, husband and 15 yr old daughter along with our Border Collie. We hope to return very soon.

The view from the window was superb and we sat at the breakfast bar watching the boats go by. The safe beach was a stone's throw from the house, as was a big grassy area - both ideal for the kids and dog to play. The enclosed patio was perfect - a sun trap, safe for the dog, and a little haven for tiny birds who came to the bird table to feed. The welcome pack was much appreciated, as was the helpfulness of the owners with any questions we had in advance. Locally, Amble Links Beach was superb as was seeing seals, puffins and terns on the Puffin Cruise from the harbour. A great holiday.

The house was perfect for us. wonderful views from the breakfast bar with passing boats, and little shore beach and grassy area just across the (quiet) road. This beach is enclosed by the harbour wall so is calm and safe for kids. Amble Links Beach, a 15 min walk or 2 min drive, is lovely. The house is comfortable, with all our needs thought of, the owners left a welcome pack of milk, bread, biscuits, wine etc which was great. The southfacing patio is enclosed and private, and the shrubs are a little haven for lots of tiny birds who feed on the birdtable. Location is great for beaches and castles (we did a walk from Craster to Dunstanburgh castle amidst spectactular coastal scenery, and afterwards had a lovely pub meal in Craster and bought kippers from the smokehouse). In Amble, plenty of local shops, amazing icecreams from Spurelli's cafe, lovely Puffin cruises from the harbour. a great holiday.

We stayed here for a week (10 to 17 May) and really enjoyed ourselves. We have a black lab - River, who absolutely enjoyed herself, but I think she was the only one glad to go home at the end of our stay as she was shattered with all the walking and swimming she did! Very close to the beaches and town, which has all you could need - good butchers, Tesco and Co-op supermarkets and banks, and some really good walks. We were contacted by the owner before our holiday and she gave us some really useful information. Also left a welcome package which included a very nice bottle of red wine and some eggs from her own hens - lovely and so fresh. The cottage has everything you might need, including a BBQ, which we used several times, and a woodburning stove, which we used even though it was not cold enough as it just looked so nice! There are loads of information leaflets/booklets to read through and plan days out with. Big picture window in the kitchen proved to be an ideal spot (at any time) to sit and look out over the grassy area to the beach and watch people, dogs and the birds. Very nice farmer's-type market on Sundays at the harbour - fresh fish, veg and meat. Bought a bag of mixed sole/plaice fillets, but could not eat it all as there must have been around 20 smallish fillets - this cost £5, good job River likes fish! Friendly local people, who are more than willing to pass on their local knowledge and help out if you are unsure of where to go. Hope we are able to go back one day!

Beautiful cottage with an amazing view. Every need catered for; there were so many little finishing touches that made our stay perfect, couldn't fault any part of the cottage, it was spotless, warm and cosy. Would definitely be staying again. Lovely area and perfect place to stay for all our family.

Cosy property with amazing views. Well equipped and very clean. Owners are exceptionally nice people and that's reflected in the generous welcome hamper. We found amble and its residents really welcoming and friendly. Fab walk starting up near Warksworth Golf Club which takes you right out along harbour defences opposite the property. Excellent lunch in said golf club.beaches at end of road, to the right, were a delight for us and our pooch.

The geographic position of Amble, and the cottage, was ideal for our requirements. The area is clean and very beautiful, with lovely beaches, and plenty to do if you want to get out and about. The cottage was clean, tidy and comfortable, with the view out of the window, at breakfast, a bonus.

A lovely property in a welcoming community. A good base for exploring Northumbria and all its coastal walks, beaches and historical towns and buildings. The view from the breakfast bar across the estuary and village green allowed us to relax and watch a busy port and its people go about their daily life. A great way to start any holiday to make you feel at home.

We enjoyed sitting in the enclosed garden area, safe for the dog and watch the lovely little birds that came to eat. The view from the kitchen window was great.
