We have just come back from a weekend away with friends at this property. What an absolute gem. We had 2 children and our friends had 1. Its perfect for all the family, with 4 good sized bedrooms, 2 bathrooms. Tastefully decorated with the added bonus of a log burner. The kitchen has everything you need and the owners even put some milk in the fridge and some scones with cream and jam! Yummy! It's in a great location to explore Dartmoor but very close to Tavistock. Highly recommend and we will definitely be booking this place again.

This is a real gem of a cottage. The location was perfect - on a farm smallholding (with chickens and ducks for our daughter to feed outside each morning). It's only a mile or so outside Tavistock with all its amenities but feels a world away - it's right at the end of a country lane so no passing traffic (the road is tarmac and in good condition right up to the farm entrance, only the final 100m or so is unsurfaced but still no problem for our car). The hosts provide annotated maps showing recommended local walks - it's only a minute or two from the farmstead to the open moorland from where you can walk down to the beautiful rivers Tavy and Walkham below. We were also able to ride our bikes from the cottage via a couple of country lanes direct onto the excellent Drake's Trail all the way to Plymouth. The cottage itself also surpassed our expectations. The kitchen, lounge area, bathrooms and bedrooms were all attractive and well equipped. There's a shed at the back where bikes can be stored and there's also a games outhouse and very big trampoline. The hosts were also great. Both before, during and after our stay Jacqui answered all our calls / messages very promptly and helpfully. She was also there to welcome us on arrival (from a suitable social distance), and the cream tea that was there to welcome us was very, very good. All in all, a great, great week away - a real tonic in a time of Covid. Thanks Jacqui!

Had a wonderful week. Very peaceful. The house is well equipped for a family of 8. Even the rain didn’t spoil it.

Had a fabulous long weekend in the heart of the Devon moors. The barn overlooks the river valley and there are some fabulous walks without the need to get in the car. Tavistock and Plymouth are in easy reach. The accommodation is first class and the cosy warmth of the woodburner was very welcome after a bracing walk. The hosts could not be more friendly and nothing seems too much trouble! We shall definitely be returning as the moors will be even more stunning in the springtime.

Have stayed here on many occasions for weekend breaks. The location is set with wonderful views over the countryside. The accommodation is very spacious and homely with very comfortable beds and furniture. The large living and dining areas provide plenty of room for everyone to spend time together. The kitchen is equipped with everything you need & everything is extremely clean. The owners go above and beyond to make sure you have a wonderful comfortable stay. If you are looking for clean, spacious comfortable accommodation in a beautiful location, then this is the place. Highly recommended!

Thank you so much for a fabulous stay. We are a group who get together once or twice a year and we couldn't have been more welcome. The rooms are very spacious and comfy and we all slept really well. The open plan kitchen and living room is a great space to all get together, being particularly cozy and warm with the wood burner. The property has stunning views out over the valley and in just a few minutes you can walk across the moor and down to the river, where we saw a group kayaking. We will definitely return, because of its great location to the moors and the quaint town of Tavistock, but also because it was such a great place to be.

We stayed in wood stone Barn with adult friends. The barn is beautifully decorated, extremely well equipped, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. A lovely home away from home. The beds were very clean and comfortable. It was lovely to have toilets and bathrooms in abundance. Plenty of parking. Ducks, chickens and horses outside completed this idyllic property, and the views were simply stunning. The owners were extreme friendly and welcoming and knowledgeable about the area. We will all book this property again, it was great value for money.

Hello, My sister and I stayed in Woodstone barn over Christmas with my husband and her family. Cottage was absolutely lovely, however, we actually checked out the day before we were supposed to (My infant neice hadn't been sleeping well) when we had got home I had realised I had left behind 2 items one skirt (The skirt I had actually worn on my wedding day in September) and a brand new shirt I had bought for Christmas. I emailed Sykes asking them to arrange postage to return the items and I would of course pay. I received no response so at the beginning of Jan I tried to call the owners of Woodstone barn to see if I could arrange the items to be returned and neither answered my calls. I asked my sister who made the booking if she would mind calling or emailing. In total myself and my sister emailed and called several times from when we left in December to march. There had been absolutely zero responses to my emails from Sykes. My sister then received an email in May from the owners who had said that they had sent my items to a local charity shop after we hadn't responded to any of their calls and they only keep things for 3 months. My sister called the charity shop and they no longer had the items. I couldn't believe that theowners of Woodstone barn had tried to blame us for not responding to their calls when neither of us had had any missed calls or emails. My sister called Sykes and they said they had tried to get in touch with the owners no less than 6 times and my sister and I had records of our emails and of our attempts to call. As of this moment I have had no response from Sykes. The closest I have been to speaking to someone was when I had been passed through 3 different agents to speak to Ally and on hold for 20+ mins before the line went dead. I know people may read this and think "silly c*w she shouldn't have left anything behind" and I agree! But to receive no response is so disappointing I really feel like Woodstone barn and Sykes could really care less about their customers especially to give away someone's belongings like that. If I were you I would book one of the many other cottage options but this time I will always book through Toad Hall who always give great service. Jade

A beautiful barn conversion finished to a very high standard set in a beautiful location. Comfortably accommodated 5 adults and 2 children. Good sized rooms, equipped with everything you could possibly need for a perfect stay. The welcoming hosts left fresh eggs, homemade scones, clotted cream and jam for our arrival. The chickens and ducks which wandered freely around the grounds kept our children entertained. There was also a trampoline and swing in a nearby field which would be great for older kids. Highly recommended - it was just a shame we had to come home!

Very friendly hosts. The chickens, ducks and ponies were fun and ideal for our little ones. Beautiful scenery all around, we enjoyed the pony trekking close by.

Perfect hosts at the property, very welcoming. Rooms were spacious and very well equipped, the children enjoyed the views of the hills along with the chickens and ponies each morning. Such beautiful surrounding, we have already spoke with friends to arrange a return trip hopefully later this year.

We (five adults) spend an awesome and wonderful week at 'Woodstone Barn'. It was indeed a wonderful vacation in many aspects. A charming renovated and perfectly equipped house. There was indeed no negative aspect during our stay and we are really recommending this place. We are definitely coming again!

A very relaxed and chilling atmosphere from the house! Stunning scenery found just by opening the curtains! Lovely, welcoming owners! Lots to entertain my grandchildren without having to leave the property!

An absolutely stunning cottage set on a beautiful farm overlooking the fields. As soon as we entered the cottage, everybody kept saying wow! Every room was beautifully decorated and very thoughtfully organised to cater fully to the needs of the occupants. All the four bed rooms were spacious and the lounge was huge. The owners were very helpful and pleasant. We certainly would be going back to spend some of our holidays.

The Barn was very clean and well appointed. The accommodation was flexible and suited us very well as a mixed age family group, having a downstairs bathroom and bedroom was handy. There were many thoughtful touches and good facilities in the property. The owners live nearby and were friendly and helpful. The location is well placed to visit West Devon, East Cornwall and the coast. There is a lot to see and do within easy reach.

It had the wow factor as soon as we opened the front door.

Was in Devon for sad reasons, but booking this barn made it a little easier. The owners are very welcoming and friendly, the barn has been decorated to a very high standard and comfortably fits 8 people. It was in the perfect location for us, not too far from other family. Great views, and animals roaming round past the window. Will defiantly return.

Barn was finished to a high standard, good sized accommodation and very well equipped. The large living and dining areas provided plenty of room for all of us to spend time together without feeling the need for more space. Would definitely recommend this to anyone. It is even suitable for wheelchair users , having a beautiful downstairs bedroom, a wet room and a gentle slope up to the main living areas.
