Location Details

The pretty harbour village of Beadnell is located next to Beadnell Bay - one of the most stunning stretches of Northumberland's Heritage Coastline. Beadnell was established in Saxon times, and was once an important fishing village and smugglers haven. Today holidaymakers flock to the village for its lovely harbour and the sandy beaches close by. There is a shop and two pubs that serve food conveniently located in this charming seaside location. Just over a mile away is Seahouses with its wider choice of restaurants and shops including a supermarket, and boat trips that run from the harbour to the spectacular birdlife haven of the Farne Islands. Bamburgh and the market town of Alnwick with its impressive castle and gardens, shops, pubs and restaurants is an easy drive away.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Reviews

Dune View was in a great location, at just 2-3 minutes from the beach we could take the children on to the sands or to the rock pools really quickly. The house was also a great base, practical for the little ones but with a real comfort feel in the evenings when the grown ups could relax.

A lovely cottage in a lovely village! Would definitely come to this cottage again. It was perfectly placed to visit Bamburgh, Seahouses and Craster to name a few!

We have just returned from this cottage, such a beautiful place Beadnell is. The cottage has everything you need, lovely bright & spacious rooms with lots of storage, enough games to keep children (and adults) entertained if the weather turned bad, DVD's & well stocked kitchen (pots etc). Its in a very quiet location and literally 2 minutes from the golden sands of Beadnell bay. The only negative points I have are: 1. The drive in to the property is down a back track, the first drive there we didnt realise the depth of the tyre track and ended up with the underneath of our car being scraped by the uneven ground, so I suggest you try and drive on the grass either side of tyre tracks. 2. The twin room beds are not very comfy, my parents had the double and myself & husband had the twins. The bases are very squeaky (every time we turned over we woke ourselves up) and the mattresses seem quite old too so not very comfy. These points aside it is a very nice cottage in a gorgeous village and would recommend people to stay here.

Everything we wanted or needed was supplied. There was just two of us but accommodation was suitable for a family of 5 or 6 at least. Just remember to switch off water heater when you leave each day and switch on when you come back. It will heat up fast saving you a few pounds. Switch is above back door.

Dune View is a lovely home to spend a peaceful week in wonderful Beadnell. Plenty of space for a family of six, we were a couple though. Everything you could possibly need is in the cottage. We were very comfortable there. Beadnell is a quiet place but The Craster arms pub and Beadnell Towers Hotel are both very good for an evening out and serve very good food. The best thing about the cottage is the close proximity to the glorious beach and small harbour. It is also well placed to visit al the attractions of the northern half of Northumberland.

We loved our holiday at Dune View, the bathroom and kitchen were fab and the garden was a great size for the kids to play in.

The cottage was spacious and comfortable, we loved the lounge diner with the open fire - it was very cosy in the evenings! The kitchen was very well equipped, with everything you might need. The location was fantastic, a few minutes walk to Beadnell Bay. We spent a lot of time on the beach, despite the blustery autumn weather! The cottage was lovely to come back to.

The cottage was comfortable, cosy and really well equipped. It was in a perfect location just minutes from the beach.

A brilliant, quiet location, so near to such a lovely beach also. The kids loved it.

The quietness of the area and the gorgeous beach, the house was a great base to explore the surrounding area.

A surprisingly spacious house with lovely new kitchen. Bathroom was a bit tired but all rooms were clean and tidy. The electric meter worried us intially but we found we had taken far too may coins and what we did put in lasted ages. The location was fantastic for the beach. One silly little suggestion -hooks for coats /waterproofs would be good. Overall we would certainly stay again.

Very comfortable stay, cottage has good amenities. It is 5 minutes walk from the fabulous beach and the whole area is lovely to stay in.

At the time of rental we specifically asked if the view shown on the website was the view from the cottage. The answer was yes. On arrival we found the view consisted of wheelie bins and garages. The house is characterless and charmless; it is certainly not worthy of the 3 stars it is advertised under. On complaining I was told that my expectations were too high, which was a bit of a veiled insult. Having rented cottages of a higher standard at a cheaper rate in many countries I think my expectations are realistic. We didn't even unpack, such was our disappointment, and moved to another location. Sykes Cottages haven't had the courtesy to respond to my complaint and our request for a refund under misrepresentation.

Good location for beach and for travelling around in the county generally. Good standard of accommodation and comfortable house.

Lovely location, with a short stroll to the most beautiful beach at Beadnell Bay. Property was very clean on arrival and we enjoyed a comfortable stay. The nesting housemartins were great to watch as well. There is lots to do in the local area if you can drag yourself away from the beach!

It was lovely to be just a short walk from such a beautiful bay.

Rated by Mrs Hall reviewed on 13th July 2010

It was a lovely quiet place to stay, in fact Beadnall is a place we would like to live in permanently!

Rated by Mrs Nichol reviewed on 22nd June 2010

My family had a very enjoyable stay in the property. It was comfortable and suited our requirements. Having an enclosed play area was good for our two year old grandson. The off road parking was good. My only criticism is that the bathroom and kitchen could do with refurbishment, otherwise all was very satisfactory

A comfortably furnished cottage, good parking facilities and an ideal location for exploring the coast and other tourist sites.

Easy access to the beach and good location for sites and coastal attractions. Beadnell is a quiet village ideal for relaxation!

Rated by Mrs Swift reviewed on 15th June 2009

We liked the fact that the property was very welcoming and we had everything we needed for our time spent there. It was extremely convenient for the beach and the outside space was great for the children playing. It's a great place as a base for exploring the area but is also a nice house to spend time in relaxing.
