Tucked away ion the middle of fields, this excellent conversion of a former derelict small stone barn provides interesting and unusual accommodation for a couple with all mod cons. Cosy and compact it may be but it is all there! Owned by friendly and helpful local people who gave us a great welcome with a bottle of wine, milk in the fridge and flowers in each room!!! ...

For a short break in an idyllic location the Hollins wood bothy is a must for all ages. Arriving through the woods sets the scene before you get to the hidden gem, this well equipped stone cottage delivers on all fronts giving you the option to do as much or a little as you want. If walking is your past time there is a raft of information for all levels or if you just want to chill out this hidden gem will not disappoint. Had a great stay and we'll visit again.

Just what my wife and I needed after a hectic few months moving house in Liverpool. So peaceful and welcoming, even as we approached through the fields. Extremely comfortable bed, good wi-fi and mobile coverage, fabulous "sitting-out areas" for catching the sun and chilling. Great walks around the cottage and Wortley village. Handy for Peak district and Yorkshire Dales. Returned home with our "batteries fully recharged" Highly recommended!

Rated by CrosvillE reviewed on 27th July 2017

Could not fault the property or welcome. Property is reached via a farm track as advertised and we did get stuck because it was dark and we missed the hard surface!, our fault. Owner most helpful in getting us out again. Nice and warm, and the log burner was great. very handy for the motorway and all local attractions. The Wortley Arms does great food and the butcher/village shop does amazing pies :)

Can't say enough good things about this place. It's a perfect little retreat if you want some time to relax. We were made to feel so welcome and loved every minute of our stay.

I stayed at the bothy for a weeks holiday in August. The place is in a beautiful setting, furnished to a high standard, quiet and peaceful. Perfect for a solo holiday or for a couple seeking a quiet and romantic getaway. Very helpful pre arrival instructions, a lovely welcome and a wonderful stay. The property is ideally situated for access to the sculpture triangle which includes the fabulous Yorkshire Sculpture Park and the Hepworth museum in Wakefield. I also enjoyed a day trip to Harrogate and a trip to Sheffield while I was there. Would love to stay again.

We were very impressed at the high standard to which the Bothy had been restored and the level of comfort that it provided. The location was perfect giving a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. It was the sort of place we did not want to leave and would certainly consider going back again.

Hollins Wood Bothy was small, cosy and perfectly formed. The standard of finish in the cottage is very high and it is a great place to spend time or to go out and explore the area with the brilliant guides provided by the owners. This is a special place to spend some time and was a perfect place for a few days away relaxing. I can't recommend this place highly enough.

Rated by Mr Burrell reviewed on 8th March 2016

If you are interested in somewhere small and cosy then this is absolutely perfect. It is finished to a very high standard and has everything you need for a trip away. It is within walking distance of the village but far enough away to be quiet as well. The owners are so welcoming without being intrusive and couldn't be more helpful. There are walks provided from the Bothy and plenty of information about the local area. If you're after somewhere to go and relax then I cant reccomend this highly enough. My only hesitation in writing a five star review is that we want to go back and don't want it to be booked up! A very special place indeed.

Rated by Ben B reviewed on 8th March 2016

From the moment we arrived (following excellent directions) we absolutely fell in love with the remoteness of the Bothy. The accommodation itself was immaculate, clean and furnished to a very high standard. The walks from the Bothy come highly recommended, we enjoyed getting our walking boots and wellies on to explore the beautiful surrounding countryside.

The minute I walked into Hollins Wood Bothy I loved everything about it! It is a beautiful and very cosy little cottage with everything you need. It was so peaceful and quiet, it's a perfect place to unwind and relax. The owners were very friendly and helpful in every way and even provided me with perfectly explained directions on how to get there. As a keen walker/runner it was an absolute paradise for me. I will be returning soon for sure and will also highly recommend Hollins Wood Bothy to all my friends! If I could score in stars then I would have to give the cottage 11 Stars out of 10.

Rated by Miss Jurkova reviewed on 3rd January 2016

Hollins Wood Bothy was amazing, clean and modern and the location was the most fantastic rural setting which I couldn't have been happier with. Close to all local amenities and we was left lots of good local walks, and to be surrounded by wildlife all day and night was just great. The little touches by the owner all added to the relaxed and stress free break we enjoyed.

Rated by Mr Lock reviewed on 7th December 2015

Amazing cottage, beautifully remote & relaxing. Lovely touches from the owner such as local cake and wine on arrival, great walks with detailed directions written by the owners & emails to make sure we knew how to get to the cottage. We had a wonderful time, thank you.

Rated by Mr Metcalfe reviewed on 13th November 2015

The Bothy is in an idyllic location, remote yet accessible. Ideally positioned for great walks from the front door or further afield in the High Peak and not too far from Sheffield if you feel the draw of the city. It's extremely cosy, warm and comfortable and obviously loved by the owners who provide a kind and generous welcome on arrival. The perfect getaway.

Rated by Mr Teale reviewed on 27th October 2015

Having visited Wortley over many years, to find this gem was perfect for my wife and I. The Bothy is a haven of peace and quiet with just the livestock for company, plus all other local wildlife. The log burner was perfect to wind down after days out and about. The accommodation was just perfect. Needless to say we will be returning again and again. Perfect!

The Bothy is beautiful and in an idyllic spot. Whilst it is so close to Sheffield it felt like being in an oasis of calm. The local walks provided by the owners were lovely. The nearby village and the local pub are superb. Whether you want to park up and enjoy the accommodation and local area or travel to the many nearby beauty spots, this is a truly lovely place to stay.

This was our second visit to Hollins Wood Bothy and we enjoyed it just as much as the first time. There are so many places to visit; local people are friendly, there were lots of lovely walks and the Bothy is 'the icing on the cake'. We hope to return again soon.

Rated by Hazell reviewed on 13th June 2015

Our stay at the Hollins Wood Bothy was a very special and enjoyable one. Our host greeted us, and was friendly and enthusiastic, and with just cause; the Bothy is more impressive than in the photos. Set in a peaceful, secluded rural setting, yet easy to get to, the Bothy has been beautifully restored - it speaks of history on the outside, yet inside it is very modern and has everything you could need. With incredibly thick walls, it is warm and quiet, and it has an immediate, welcoming charm and cosiness; it made for a relaxing, romantic holiday. There are a plethora of things to do and beautiful places to see in the area, and many others a short drive away. It was a lovely stay and we'll cherish the memories.

Rated by Mr Alnasrawi reviewed on 13th June 2015

Our hosts were very welcoming and courteous, explaining in detail how to reach our cottage. The cottage was very well positioned and gave us the privacy we sought, it's a real gem. We enjoyed experiencing the local food and shops, the locals were very friendly. We had a fantastic experience during our stay and will certainly look to return in future, and recommended the cottage to friends and family.

The Bothy is a really special place all round. Everything was just right and I'm fussy! Good walks and cycling with a nice tea room, farm shop, general store and great pub in the village nearby. The owners were very welcoming and helpful too. I loved it.

This lovely cottage is in a peaceful rural location but has local village amenities which are within easy walking distance for those who prefer to leave the car parked up. The owners are really friendly and gave us a genuinely warm welcome with nothing being to much trouble for them. We enjoyed several local walks (which the owners supplied details of) and there a many more within a short drive for anyone who enjoys the countryside.

This was the first time we have ever done a holiday like this and we had the time of our lives. The cottage was cosy yet modern with the most amazing bed! The warm welcome we received really made us feel at home and the scenery was stunning! We were very lucky to have snow there and it was literally like something from a post card!

We were so pleased that Hollins Wood Bothy was just as described, and the perfect holiday retreat. The welcome we received from the owner was great. We couldn't find fault, everything was just perfect for us and we certainly hope to go back again!

Literally the best break we've ever had. A gorgeous, beautifully renovated property, perfect surroundings, a warm welcome (owner is a good laugh) and peacefulness. Had a bit of nice weather so we fired a BBQ up in the garden and cooked local -delicious- meat on it. Heaven!

Rated by Miss Adams reviewed on 19th September 2014

If you're looking for a secluded cottage, but with modern touches, such as wifi and dishwasher, washing machine etc, this is the place for you. Hollins Wood Bothy is a beautiful, modern, clean, cosy cottage set in the grounds of a working farm. The cottage itself is located between a sheep field (wake up and see sheep from the bedroom window. Bliss!) and another field with a few cows in (they'll come and say hello if you let them). Don't let the 'working farm' part put you off. You don't encounter farmers walking past the Bothy, nor is anyone in the field milking cows or shearing sheep. For all intents and purposes, you are alone! There are woods opposite which are perfect for walking. The Bothy even comes with its own 'bespoke' walks - direct from the Bothy! Just grab one of the guides and go. A really nice touch, and one of several (I won't name them or it'll spoil the surprise!) We felt as though we were in the middle of nowhere. You can't hear the traffic and as I said, we didn't see the farmer at all on our week stay. It's just you and the wildlife. The owners made us feel welcome and the little touches on our arrival were very much appreciated. We spent the week hanging out in the Bothy, sitting in the garden, visiting the big cities (Leeds, Manchester and Sheffield) which were all under an hour away. The little village of Wortley is home to the local pub, a post office and farm shop (jam and meat are both highly recommended!). You can walk to it from the Bothy in about 40 minutes. The Peak District is located a short drive away too, making the Bothy ideally located for exploring the natural beauty of the north and also enjoying shopping and nightlife of the cities. I need to tell you about the bed at the Bothy. You will not sleep on a better bed. It was so good that my partner and I looked it up online - we want it for our flat! It's totally out of our price range though! haha! Everything in the Bothy is top notch. The owners have spared no expense to ensure you have a brilliant stay. We can't wait to go back! Thank you John and Rowena!

Rated by Honeycat82 reviewed on 23rd August 2014

The cottage is exactly as described. We received such a warm welcome and the personal touches were greatly received! The Bothy includes everything you need for a fantastic rural escape. You could just spend all your time inside the Bothy and enjoy the natural surroundings (your only neighbours being the sheep, cows and pheasants. Oh, and the hare!). Included in the cosy cottage was everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable and relaxed. Basically, the Bothy is the ideal countryside escape which still has 21st century mod cons. We wanted a quiet, secluded home which still had wifi and what we got was so much more.

Rated by Mr Denoon reviewed on 7th July 2014

A wonderful cottage in a fantastic, quiet, extremely rural location but only a few minutes from the local village. The owners were very welcoming. There were cows, hares, pheasants, a partridge and an owl all within a few feet of us most days.

Rated by Mr Scott reviewed on 30th June 2014

We loved everything from the warm welcome to the copious amounts of information provided in the cottage. It was all perfect and the Bothy had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We would happily stay again and have already recommended to friends and family.

A lovely old bothy turned into a perfect little holiday cottage, lovely setting, really peaceful and nicely set back from everything, on the edge of the peak district, an excellent base for exploring the hills. We went on some glorious walks. A great welcome from the owners too, who left us wine and cake.

Rated by Mr Legg reviewed on 5th April 2014

My mother and I stayed here for a weekend while we had a lot of work to do (I had exams and she had reports to write). We wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of normal life and retreat into the country for a working break. Our stay was lovely, we had a very warm welcome on arrival and were shown where everything is. The complimentary tea, coffee and cake was delicious! We got plenty of work done as it is so peaceful, only the sheep around to keep you company! But the village is a short drive away if you want to explore or get an supplies. There are walking route plans provided in the bothy, depending on how long you want to be walking for and what kind of terrain you fancy. The bothy itself is furnished very tastefully and is well equipped with most things you need. The wood burner is a lovely touch for the cold winter days. We would love to return when we have no work and are able to relax and enjoy the picturesque countryside. I can't recommend this little gem enough.
