From the lush green farmlands of the Borders to the ruggedness of the Highlands, the Scots are proud of their land and identity. Scotland also has some of Britain's best beaches with glorious stretches of clean sand over which to roam.
This cottage has the potential to be a beautiful holiday home. Unfortunately, shower was disgustingly filthy, too much furniture (some if it very tatty) no food cupboard in kitchen, couldn't get freezer opened as there is a couch in the kitchen. Couldn't open wardrobe doors in bedroom as wardrobe was at the bottom of the bed. Broken tiles in kitchen floor. Owner just made excuses about our complaints.
Stayed in the cottage as a family of 5 with two adults and 3 children. The cottage is nice and clean and the kitchen is well stocked up but not happy with parking area being away from the property as it makes it difficult for loading and unloading the car especially when you have small children . Also it's not very easy to find as we had to ask the neighbours for help. Also when we booked the cottage we did ask to have a cot and high chair for a baby but nothing was provided.
The location was stunning, the people in the village were very helpful and friendly, and the cottage was very comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.
Absolutely brilliant place to stay 39 miles south of Edinburgh 38 miles west of Lindesfarne Loads of Local stuff to see Melrose Abbey, Jedburgh the list goes on ..... The Accommodation was very good Everything you need is there to hand ...Traveled with my Husband & daughters 20 & 18. . Bedrooms are spacious & comfortable, the Kitchen is very well equipped for anything you may need to prepare . On arriving a friendly neighbour pointed us in the right direction to our front door ( not obvious from where you are required to leave the car ) My only gripe is the two x two seater sofas in the lounge could do with renewing .... They are a little too low & aren't that comfortable to sit on for longer than 30 mins ( just my view ) as i have hip problems & arthritis but my 20 year old daughter ( with no health problems ) did comment on it too even though i said nothing . I'd definately stay here again :)
My wife and I wanted somewhere fairly central in the Borders. We were familiar with St. Boswells so this looked ideal. The cottage is well equipped, warm and welcoming. Everything that you might need is to hand. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with basics for your arrival. The lounge is comfortable. The bedrooms are comfortable and having a toilet and shower / bath on both floors is very handy. The cottage is well placed for all local tourist attractions - all of the abbeys, the Tweed and the beautiful border towns. The neighbours are friendly and helpful. The village post office is handy - as is the excellent Buccleuch Arms - which shouldn't be passed by. Excellent accommodation.
It was a beautiful cottage. It was like home away from home.
Kennels cottage was so convenient to visit our friends and close to Edinburgh. We took the new Borders train into Edinburgh which worked well. Lovely spot and the house is perfect for our needs.
Kennels Cottage was very comfortable. It was very central for the shops, buses and walks.
A very relaxing break, just what we needed. The cottage was comfortable and better than expected. A real home from home.
Cottage was very warm and comfortable with all the home comforts included. It was well presented with a good layout and nice light and airy rooms.
An excellently equipped cottage, thoroughly enjoyed our stay. It was central for all the surrounding places to visit in the borders. Nice pub/restaurant within a few minutes walk.
Excellent location, quiet, close to good pub, lovely village and fine area for walking and visiting. Kennel Cottage is immaculately presented with all you could need, but not to the unnecessary excess of some places. We will visit again as we love the Borders area. A lovely little cottage, we felt very at home there and the neighbours were very friendly.
We have a small dog and the proximity to an excellent selection of nearby walking areas was a great advantage. Also, the location of this cottage so close to everything you need made it a place we intend to visit again in the near future.
