Reviews

This, our second visit to Fir Tree Stables, proved to be every bit as enjoyable as the first. The cottage was exactly as we remembered it - spotlessly clean, cosy, comfortable and welcoming. It was evident though it had been spruced up with new carpets and a new bathroom featuring a fabulous walk-in shower instead of a bath. This was a huge improvement. The cottage is in a quiet location with stunning views of the surrounding countryside. It provides an excellent base for visiting places such as Fountains Abbey, Bolton Abbey, Skipton, Rippon, Grassington and Linton Falls. The hosts, John and Val, are very friendly and forthcoming with useful suggestions on places to visit if you're stuck for ideas. There are several public footpaths close to the cottage which our dog loved exploring! We instantly feel at home in this cottage and will definitely be back!

We have stayed in many cottages across the country and this was without doubt the best, it was very clean and comfortable and the owners were very friendly. We will use this property again soon.

A lovely secluded cottage, excellent in every aspect. It was peaceful, quiet and cosy. The owners were very helpful and welcoming. A really lovely holiday.

Rated by Mr Pratt reviewed on 7th January 2016

The accommodation was just right - spacious for 2 people and as it appeared on the photos. The bedroom was airy yet cosy and the sitting room which was spacious with 2 sofas was the perfect size. Parking was close to the cottage. The cottage was nice and warm despite the weather! The location of the cottage close to Brimham Rocks is perfect.

Cottage was one of the best in every aspect that we have rented on holiday.

A great cottage in a good location and would book again next year.

Rated by Mr Ballans reviewed on 29th June 2015

A comfortable cottage with all necessary amenities including washing/drying machine. Had a nice view and was detached and not overlooked. A lovely rural location, but not too remote and a good centre for local country walks and exploring the area.

Rated by Mr Evans reviewed on 30th May 2015

Everything (cottage and location) was first class.

Rated by Mrs Deans reviewed on 11th April 2015

This was our first stay at Fir Tree Stables and I can safely say it won't be our last. The cottage is in a fantastic location with stunning scenic views of rolling countryside, but never too far away from various locations of beauty to visit either. The décor and amenities at Fir Tree Stables are excellent and gave the whole experience an amazing homely feel. The owners are so friendly and helpful, and apply a "we are here if you need anything" approach which enables you to have a more relaxing and enjoyable holiday. Being able to take our loveable Staffie with us was a complete bonus also, as he was able to relax and enjoy the holiday as much as we did.

Our 4th visit in 16 months - that speaks for itself.

It was an amazing place to stay in and was very well looked after.

This was our third stay in 13 months and it won't be our last visit. Had great views, was really relaxing and was spotlessly clean. Being dog friendly is a big plus.

Rated by Mr Venables reviewed on 24th November 2014

On arrival the whole feeling was of 'wow' - everything was laid out perfectly. The place was lovely and quiet and we would highly recommend. Perfect for reading and relaxing. The whole town was lovely and easy to access other towns, good pubs and chip shop!

Rated by Mr Marshall reviewed on 17th November 2014

Excellent cottage in an isolated location, but close enough to the towns we wished to visit.

Rated by Mr Shipman reviewed on 5th November 2014

The cottage as a whole, the walks and the villages, the locals were warm and friendly. We had a great holiday.

Beautiful accommodation, out in the country, nice & quiet, could not be better, loved everything about it

The owners were so friendly and welcoming and this was probably the most relaxing holiday we have experienced in the UK. The view from the cottage was absolutely excellent. The owners allowed you to go onto their property for walks and the fact that we could take our dog with us made the holiday. We will book there again in the future.

We enjoyed the holiday and especially the cottage which was excellent indeed.

Rated by Mr Green reviewed on 3rd May 2014

We stayed at Fir Trees over the Easter holidays and loved it. Brilliant accommodation, lovely and clean, home from home. It was easy to find and got a lovely warm welcome of the owner. If you want a place thats nice & quiet then this is for you as there's nothing around it except lovely scenery and the birds singing. Yes there's local shops and Pubs but you have a 6 minute journey to get to these. The bed is so comfy and the shower is brilliant. Instant hot water and when the wind was blowing outside inside it was lovely and warm. A lovely place to stay and yes will be back for another break. The only down side is that there's no WiFi, yes I know I'm a saddo but some of us need it. Highly recommend this lovely property to any one who looks at it.

Rated by GlitterMonkey reviewed on 27th April 2014

The location is very peaceful with fantastic views, close to many tourist attractions. We did not go more than 10 miles from the cottage but had days out at several different places. The owners are very friendly. They live on the farm so are immediately available if required.

Rated by Mr Venables reviewed on 7th February 2014

The cottage was lovely and warm. It suited us being disabled as it is on one level. We like the quaint villages in Yorkshire and often go there.

Rated by Mrs Malone reviewed on 1st January 2014

The location and the property was ideal for 2 persons and a dog.

Rated by Mr Hull reviewed on 28th November 2013

The location was really peaceful, with a fantastic view. The cottage is immaculately presented. We were central to tourist locations in all directions. We will be staying again in 2014.

The most relaxing cottage we have stayed in. Very warm and cosy, and everything at hand.

Rated by Ms Stewart reviewed on 6th November 2013

Lovely cottage in beautiful surroundings. Plenty of interesting places to visit in the area.

Rated by Mrs Flexmore reviewed on 1st November 2013

Easy to find with the post code in the satnav. Very clean and well equipped, plenty of china cutlery and glasses. Beds were comfortable and it was so quiet with virtually no passing traffic. Modern bathroom with a decent shower over the bath and plenty of hot water. Good parking. Well stocked shop in the village which claims to be open till late 7 days a week. Lots of places to visit without going too far or or course lots of walks from the front door for the energetic. We went into Pateley bridge each evening for our meal, a nice small town about 5 miles away. It would be nice to go back as there is still much for us to see.

Rated by JB1936 reviewed on 3rd September 2013

Nice location good views from the property. Spotlessly clean, loads of hot water, lovely shower and comfortable seating.

Rated by Mr Burr reviewed on 3rd September 2013

Our stay was amazing, in a beautiful cottage and views to die for. It was very well appointed and very comfortable. The owners were very friendly and approachable with nothing too much trouble. If you require peace and quiet away from the rat race this is perfect. Local shops and tourist attractions were within easy reach by car with many available walks for those who enjoy that sort of pastime. We enjoyed the peace and quiet, located in the middle of all that beautiful Nidderdale and Yorkshire had to offer.

Rated by DavidK712 reviewed on 21st July 2013

My wife and me enjoyed the idyllic cottage which had the most amazing views and warmest of welcomes from the owner. The area was very quiet but within easy car distance of many places of interest eg: Harrogate, Pateley Bridge, Knaresborough, York, to name but a few and the rest of beautiful Yorkshire.

Rated by Mr Kirkpatrick reviewed on 20th July 2013

Warm and friendly greeting soon after arrival. First class clean accommodation with every luxury. Situated in a beautiful quiet. Extremely high standard.
