Reviews

This property was very, very comfortable and very well equipped. The cottage was in a lovely location and we really felt at home throughout our stay. We would love to enjoy the comforts and the log burner in the winter time.

This is a delightful cottage, well-equipped, and in a lovely little village. The village has a nice pub only 5mins away (dog friendly, food and even a pool table), and a tea shop for lunches literally round the corner. Lovely cakes there. If you do take a dog, be aware there is no garden, or yard. It's very cosy, has a very warm log burner - though wood is limited, you'll need to buy more if you want to rely on it for your warmth. The central heating warms up the place very well, however. There was a strange distant thumping noise we heard one night, and finally worked out it was people playing badminton in the adjoining local village hall! But it wasn't enough to bother us. It is well situated for local walks, and there are many nearby villages to visit. Hawes is only 4 miles down the road, and has a great many pubs to dine at. We tried The Crown, which was super for food, and had a nice selection of beers. Also dog friendly. Perhaps too dog friendly! The only thing that let this cottage down is the fact that it has no wifi. This wouldn't usually be a big issue, however there is also no phone reception in the cottage, and only barely one bar at a very particular spot in the village. There is also, crucially no landline - we felt that this presented all-in-all a bit of a safety issue if there had been an emergency. We would have needed to knock on doors for access to a phone, or run to the other end of the village for the payphone. Given the lack of all three, we feel the website should say as much to any potential visitors - it just didn't occur to us that no mention of wifi, meant no wifi! There is however some sky TV... and a DVD player. And some interesting jigsaws, and lots of books. And you should definitely go to the fish and chip van that comes round every weds. With wifi this would have been a 5 star review.

The location of Anvil Barn is perfect to access other places e.g. Hawes, Asygarth etc. The property itself was perfect - you couldn't ask for more! It's a home away from home and has everything you need - cannot fault it and would definitely return again.

We had a lovely stay at Anvil Barn, a little gem of a place which was cosy and welcoming. The place was spotless and well equipped for our stay. Bainbridge is a great area for walking and has easy access to Hawes. We would definitely recommend the cottage to friends and will hopefully return ourselves at some point.

A very comfortable property decorated to a high standard with everything you need. There would be no hesitation in returning to this property and would gladly recommend to others. It was a shame we did not get to use the stove because the weather was so good!

We love the Yorkshire Dales and have been there many times. Staying in Anvil Barn was first class, the finish and attention to detail of the fixtures and fittings was excellent we could not have picked a better cottage. We will stay there again. We felt at home there, staying in the dales is something we like to do and this cottage was perfect for us.
