Before reading this review, please note, we are not people who complain often and like to give fair and honesy reviews. We want to provide honest feedback to the owner, so that guests can continue staying in this beautiful location. The owner has a pure gem of a property to rent out and we would love for them to continue to benefit from this. Winster Fields is set in a beautiful and peaceful location. It is a spacious, and has all the amenities you will need for a comfortable stay. We stayed in this accommodation 4 years ago and were really looking forward to returning for our holiday this year. Unfortunately, when we entered the property, it smelt 'fusty', like it had been shut up for weeks. There were wasps and flies all over the surfaces and the kitchen was filthy! The cutlery and crockery were dirty in the cupboards, the bin smelt, there were food stains up the walls, the cooker hood and tiles were covered in grease, as well as the lights in the kitchen. It was clear that the property had not been cleaned properly before our arrival. If cleaners had been in, then they really didn't clean it properly. There were public hairs in the bathroom sinks, and urine splattered on the toilet brushes. We were less that impressed in arrival. Such a shame as we couldn't fault the property four years ago. We contacted Sykes straight away, who were very apologetic and contacted the owner in a timely fashion. We were informed that the cleaners would be in the day after our arrival, but nobody appeared. I then contacted sykes again and they arranged cleaners for the following day. They did come this time, but again, it was clear they only did the bare minimum and only dealt with the issues I had provided pictorial evidence for. In my opinion, the owner needs to liaise with the cleaning company regularly and discuss non negotiatiables for weekly, fortnightly and monthly cleans to ensure everything is cleaned regularly. In addition to this, there are maintenance jobs that need to be reported to the owner, who lives away. Light bulbs were out, damp patches on the ceiling and a broken chair. These all should be addressed quickly to ensure a comfortable stay. There needs to be some investment into thsi property now, as it is looking worn. Decorating needs to be done, new frying pans and utensils in th kitchens and new sofas and cushions as they are worn and smell. I am disappointed to be writing such a negative review as we love the location and had such a lovely stay 4 years ago. We enjoyed our holiday in the lakes, however didn't feel as comfortable as we should have done in our accommodation, due to the cleanliness.
Stayed over the Christmas period. Couldn't be more disappointed with this property. I will not be returning and would not recommend to anyone which is a shame as the views and outside the property are stunning. On entering the property it didn't look as though it had been cleaned properly in weeks! We had leaks on arrival which was reported and told someboby had been out to the property when i wasnt in and said it was a slight leak which would be dealt with after Xmas. I had to move the dinning room table and put several pans down to catch the water. I would understand if this was the first instance this happened but previous holiday makers have written this in the guest book along with other issues we also raised and obviously have not been dealt with. For the money you pay you would expect better. Posting for other holiday makers not to make the same mistake we did. Look elsewhere! For the property owners do better if you want customers to be happy and return or recommend. P.s may I suggest the cleaner invest in a feather duster to remove the ridiculous amount of cob/dust webs! Unfortunately won't let me upload the videos only images.
The size of the property was large and the location was also idyllic, with beautiful views and a stroll across a couple of fields to an outstanding pub.
A really lovely property in beautiful surroundings. Pure peace and relaxation in comfort. We would definitely recommend Winster Fields and plan to return again. The property's proximity to Bowness and Windermere meant that we could explore the Lake's attractions easily and then return to the serenity of the house and its surrounding fields.
Winster Fields is an excellent property. The cottage was very spacious and it had an excellent outlook, very tranquil. The cottage had everything we needed and more - it was very well thought out. It was very clean and very comfortable, and the beds were excellent and had two pillows each. The Lake District never fails to deliver even when the weather was not too good. It is a beautiful area to visit and I would definitely recommend the area and the accommodation.
The cottage was far bigger than expected from the pictures. It was absolutely beautiful and the surroundings were beautiful.
The property was even better than the photos, well-equipped and impeccably clean. We enjoyed living in luxury for the week!
The cottage is beautiful, clean, comfortable and very well laid out for a family with plenty of space to relax. We had no problem cooking every night, the kitchen is very well equipped. The location is very quiet and peaceful with stunning views over the fells. We loved its remoteness and it is a great base to explore from.
Well placed, well equipped cottage, with stunning views.
We loved the rural setting of the cottage; peaceful, quiet and with lovely views yet not too far from places of interest. The accommodation was better than we expected and had everything you would want for a perfect family holiday. We even got decent weather!
We had a fantastic time at Winster Fields. The house is lovely and in a great location, so peaceful with amazing scenery. We would definitely like to return to this property again in the future as 1 week just wasn't enough!
Very nice cottage, really well appointed and in a lovely location. Highly recommended!
Winster Field is a beautiful house with gorgeous views.
I liked the peace and tranquillity. The cottage exceeded expectations.
The location very peaceful and relaxing. The standard of finish in all of the rooms was excellent. As we are a group of photographers the area has a lot of opportunities for landscapes even without leaving the property.
The standard of the cottage was excellent. The views equally so.
I loved the seclusion of the property. The property was beautifully furnished and was very comfortable. I was able to have a change of bed linen and towels after the weekend as my relatives had shared the cottage with us. We will be back!
Location and cottage were lovely, very quiet too.
I was attracted to this property on the internet because it looked lovely but in reality it was even better. It definitely has the wow factor.
The whole standard of the accommodation was excellent and very tastefully decorated throughout. The beds and bedding being exceptionally comfortable, and house well equipped throughout. The setting to which the property was situated was perfect for a peaceful retreat with outstanding views over the valley.
Absolutely beautiful cottage in a perfect location! We have two young children and came with 2 adult friends. The place was ideal for all if us. We'll be coming back again!
It was a great location with nice views and a perfect base for exploring the wider Lakes. Whilst being in a remote area there were local shops and the Hare and Hound pub which served excellent meals and food. The cottage was extremely well presented, well equipped and clean - all we could ask for.
