Reviews

This cottage is lovely: nice and spacious for our family of four, spotlessly clean, good quality fixtures and fittings with lots of equipment for home cooking if required. The photos do not do it justice! The real fire was also a bonus on cool evenings, especially with the kids! We saw an abundance of wild birds and red squirrels on the decking. The woods and burn at the back of the house provided endless entertainment for the kids. The owners live on site and were extremely friendly and helpful when required. It's worth noting that it is a bit of a treck to get anywhere (single track road for 20-30 minutes in either direction to a main road) but that makes it all the more appealing as it is lovely and quiet. Despite the rain, we explored lots of the west coast. The Crinan trail was a pleasant surprise, giving the most amazing views over the Sound of Jura. And Oban and Inveraray are worth a visit. I'd definitely recommend this cottage to families or couples who enjoy the outdoors.

Lovely cottage in pretty much the middle of no where. Owner was very friendly and helpful. Cottage is nice and small yet plenty of room for a family of 4 (2 adults and 2 kids, one 3 years other 7 months). Nice fully equipped kitchen and living space with a lovely log burning fire. Nice big master bedroom with loads of room and a big twin room perfect size for 2 kids. Garden is nice and big and perfect for 2 kids to run around in. In the evenings it catches the setting sun and is a lovely sun trap on the decking. Would highly recommend and love to stay there again, so peaceful and quiet.

Set by the shore of Loch Awe this cottage is tucked away just off the single track road, it's about 30 minutes drive to Lochgilphead but well worth it. The cottage has a lovely large lounge area that commands a large corner sofa & dining table with french doors onto a decking area with table & chairs perfect for an evening meal looking out over the loch. The owner came and introduced herself shortly after our arrival and explained that the cottage was on a private water system, this means that even with filtering the water sometimes looks slightly brown due to peat, but she provides 2 bottles of spring water & a welcome basket of shortbread goodies & a vase of flowers. The cottage is well stocked with DVDs, jigsaws, books & games suitable for families and a number of information leaflets. The kitchen is well stocked with all the essentials. we had dinner in the cottage on a couple of occasions and had no problems with having the utensils we needed, the kitchen also boasts a dishwasher & washer. This is a great base for exploring from if you don't mind a drive around we visited, Isle of Bute, Arron, Mull of Kintyre, Oban and had a boat trip out to the Corryvreckan whirlpool - trips from Ardfern where there is a post office/general store which is the closet shop to the cottage.

A beautiful, peaceful, private location with wonderful views along & across Loch Awe. There were many varied and interesting opportunities to explore from this location by foot, bicycle, car & boat. The cottage was very comfortable, superbly equipped and beautifully decorated. The friendly and welcoming owners of the property lived nearby and were very knowledgeable about the area and wildlife.

A real home away from home, the cottage was perfectly furnished with everything we could wish for and more. Books, DVD's and games for all ages. Very comfortable, great bedding, very clean and welcoming. The owners are very friendly and ready to give advice if needed, although very discreet.

Property very isolated but the comfort and peacefulness more than made up for this. If you want a holiday away from it all with fine views but with all the mod cons you would not be dissapointed if you stayed here. Thank you to the owners for making us feel so welcome

Lovely well equipped, very comfortably furnished cottage with beautiful setting and lovely views as well as the most delightful hosts. Host family children played for ours with ours. Only slight downside for us, was that is was a bit more cut off than we would like - with a 25 mins car journey just to reach the main road, and start to go anywhere, which limited our opportunities to make the most of the sightseeing in the area.

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 17th December 2009

We had no problems with booking or route planning, cottage was spotlessly clean, owners left us some special treats which was a nice touch. attractive location. We enjoyed fishing and pony trekking and sight seeing, one minor drawback was long drive down single track road, but would not stop us from going back again

Rated by A FlipKey verified reviewer reviewed on 8th December 2009

Cottage and location were excellent. Very quiet retreat. No good if you want to socialise as its 8 miles to nearest pub! Perfect holiday for us though, great for walking, resting, peace and quiet!
