The village has a store and two public houses and is only two miles from the village of Ford and the Etal estate, with its castle and craft shops. The Etal Estate offers activities such as fishing, cycling and a mini railway, making this an ideal day out for the whole family. There are eight golf courses within a 20-mile radius, and many other attractions including the border town of Berwick-upon-Tweed, Lindisfarne on the Holy Island and the spectacular Cheviot Hills. The impressive Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the beautiful vast sandy beaches of the Heritage Coast are all within an easy drive. Lowick is perfectly placed as holiday destination that can be enjoyed all year round.

Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Second time here, never long enough. Lovely s/c bothy with all you could ask for. If I had to find a slight downer, we are used to a bigger bed but it was cosy!

The Bothy was just what we needed for a quiet restful holiday. It is ideally situated away from it all. A lovely cottage which was beautifully presented. It is in a peaceful location with lots of birds coming into the natural garden. Thank you.

A nice quiet location, the places we wanted to visit were all in easy reach. The accommodation was clean and well kept. The housekeeper was very helpful when we arrived. We enjoyed our stay and would not hesitate to recommend The Bothy to family and friends.

The location of The Bothy was perfect. Close enough to nearest points of interest that we didn't need to spend hours traveling from place to place, but The Bothy was secluded enough to ensure peaceful evenings in a very rural setting. The log burner in the lounge was another lovely touch. The owners were very friendly and welcoming, and we're always available should we have needed anything.

Thoroughly enjoyed the relaxation in exceptionally warm and welcoming barn conversion. Perfect for us as a couple and handily located for the beautiful Northumberland coast and Holy Island.

The Bothy at Barmoor Mill is such a lovely, homely place to spend a leisurely holiday. It's an excellent barn conversion, thoughtfully designed throughout, and well equipped with pretty much everything from corkscrews to binoculars. We spent a week here with our dog (who appreciated the run of the fenced garden) and found the location ideal for visiting Lindisfarne, Alnwick, Berwick and further afield along the Scottish borders. On a cold, wet November evening it was lovely to come back to the warm, cosy comfort of The Bothy, and we have already booked to return again next year.

Rated by Mrs Jackson reviewed on 18th September 2015

Stayed with a friend for 1 week and loved it. It was well located for Holy Island, Berwick-Upon-Tweed the A1 and the 697 roads making all the important sites easy to reach. The Bothy was spotlessly clean, well equipped with linens, kitchen utensils, nice furniture, and set in the loveliest scenery. Highly recommended. The owners make you very welcome.

Good quality accommodation is the first step for us to a good holiday. We had our furry friends with us so knew we would be walking a lot, and this area definitely provides that. We will definitely be using Sykes Cottages again if this is the standard you provide. Thank You.

We stayed at the Bothy for a week. It has everything you need for a great stay. Clean and light and a really comfy bed.. A proper homely feel. A great barn conversion. It's in a lovely location, surrounded by fields and countryside. Plenty of lanes to walk the dog. Ideal for exploring Northumberland, close to the A1 and Holy Island. The owners were very helpful and the home made cake they left us was delicious. One of the best places we have stayed. We can't wait to go back

The Bothy is perfect for 2 people. We took the dog too. It's very light and airy, with fantastic views. A real home from home. Beautifully kept. Great bed for a perfect nights sleep and a great garden too. Close enough to the A1 to travel around and see all the fantastic places Northumberland has to offer. We had a fantastic time and can't wait to go back.

My husband and I booked this for 7 nights to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and it was an excellent choice. We were both stressed and tired when we arrived but after a couple of days at 'The Bothy' we felt like we almost lived there! The bed is so comfortable we slept very well and woke every morning refreshed. Just what the doctor ordered! The location of the Bothy is ideal for exploring the Northumberland coast - we visited Berwick, Anwick, Bamburgh, Seahouses, Holy Island and went to Edinburgh on the East Coast train.

The Bothy was a real find for us. Luxurious accommodation for two, clean attractive and comfortable furniture - the two bathrooms particularly good. Owners welcoming and helpful even providing towels and a bowl for our dog. Peaceful location with plenty of parking and a good sized gravelled garden. We consider this the best holiday cottage we have ever rented.

The quiet nature of the property and the welcome we received from the owners; including some home made cake upon arrival, which we felt was a really nice touch.
